I have so suffered for so many years of playing golf from over swing. Stretching myself to my limit and hence over swinging and swaying right. Until one day I decided at the range to just hit half swings. Basically going back without stretching to my limit. This immediately helped my ability to transfer weight and follow through with a correct sequence and there by dramatically changed my ball striking quality and consistency. So your video is a very pertinent one. Great drills too! Thank you.
I am a golf beginner. This video is exactly what I needed to fix my backswing. Thanks Michele! I recorded my own swing and compared with your swing path, I can definitely use your drills to correct & improve. Please continue sharing your great tips!
Really good job on your instructional videos. You break down the swing so it's easy to understand the position we need to be in. Now if only I could get it down. Thank you -robert
Thank you!!!! The wrist angle solution has transformed my swing into a powerful, accurate machine shaving 10 - 14 strokes in my last 3 games ( around 96 to around 82). I've read Hogan's book, watched countless materials & had several packaged lessons trying to get a natural action to get it flat & this is huge for me. Booming drives, high long irons (I thought its not possible) & accurate wedges. I land my irons over trouble now onto greens instead of rolling into trouble or always short of greens.
Thanks so much for the great video, now I do understand I have long backswing and need to fix the issue. This is very much likely the problem to cause the accuracy of my iron shot. On the other hand, the long backswing did give me extra 30~50 yard of my driver shot...
Watched your video on half swing about 3 months ago. 10 handicap. Practiced, watched again and again. Just shot 2 over today. Thank you Michele I finally understand my swing. I have a repeatable swing. Brian
Hi Michele. Always great to learn and get the good tips from you cos it is clear and easy to understand. Love to see your beautiful swing cos you make it look so easy too. Thank you for all your wonderful tips!👌👍👍👏👏👏
Hi Michelle, I've been a fan since I started playing golf. Can you repost the video where you use an alignment stick as a club and drag one of its end to the floor to simulate a proper downswing. Ican't find it now.
Hi Michele, I like it. The wrist angle will be my main try. This looks like it could be one of my problem area's. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work. Excellent advice, and well explained.
To be frank , I never realised my inconsistency on the ball strike was due to the unintentional over swing …. Thx for the drill , still practicing on that before any improvement. Thx 🙏
What karma I was just working on shortening my back swing yesterday and this video today, thank you, I’ll practice your drills and let you know how it worked out. Thanks 😊
Hey Michele, thanks for this awesome video! Can i request for a video on the wrist angle which show it in more details? As a beginner in golf, i always find it hard for me to swing consistenly (Maybe a lot more practise is needed), but your video certainly helps a lot! Keep up with the good videos!
Thanks Michele, this is another gem of a lesson in your great series of issues faced by beginners or weekend golfers... Inhave also a tip to share ...when one's spine angle is perfectly in place, with pelvis towards the target and which in turn set the head behind the ball, at that time, if one look a half inch ahead of the ball, that automatically shortens the backswing and shots or impact get crisper ..would request you to respond , thanks
You mean set up with a tilt? I won’t say that will 100 percent stop overswinging. But it does help witg the impact for people with over the top swing :)
@@michelelowgolf7501 1. Does squaring the club at the last end of the back swing helps 2. In case, swing around the sternum, that may prevent sway, and overswing also
Git a feeling this help. Feel like I am over swinging my short irons and wedges. The wrist cupping issue is major problem in my swing. Hope these drills fix the wrist issue
H Michelle, started golf two months ago, from not hitting the ball to 110 on course, most by watching your videos. Thank you for making efforts to produce the videos. Now, I have a question, do I need to get fitting? When should I get fitting? Thank you!
Funny how a womans video is so simple to understand. A man's video is always so complicated in what you are doing wrong but really no solid tips for solutions to your swing problem like Michelle does in hers! Thank you Michelle! Every man will tell you that watch women's golf to learn!
Thanks Michelle. Good practice tips. I like the wall tip. I have not seen that before. I definitely saw one of my swing problems in your instructions. Thanks again for your good golf advice.
My interest in golf biomechanics began after I took a post retirement job as a starter/marshal at a golf course for the perk of unlimited free golf range time and rounds and would see 98% of the golfers on the first tee slice into the woods because they fell off balance without realizing it. I realized that ALL swing faults are the result of not having the body + SWINGING club in balance with gravity and a big reason the pros hit like they do in balance is because they take full practice swings and adjust posture and club path in takeaway to make sure they will stay in balance start to finish in their swings. The long backswing problem is at its root a balance problem in the takeaway move the golfer reacts to by bending the elbows in the backswing to change the direction of the unbalancing swing force. It is the brain’s intuitive subconscious reaction to being pulled off balance and not being able to let of what is pulling them off balance. I realized that nearly all swing faults start with an unbalanced set-up and takeaway by doing the partial swing drill Ben Hogan suggested in Five Lessons in which you start with no wrist hinge chipping swing arcs and gradually increase the swing arc. As the swing arc increases the unbalancing club force increases exponentially revealing all the flaws in posture and how the grip is controlling the path of the club head mass and toe direction in the takeaway move. Hogan’s swing style in which hips, shoulder and hands move together in the takeaway brings the club back outside the hands on a naturally balanced path. The current conventional wisdom of just swinging back with hands and shoulders and not moving hips until shoulder turn forces them to close does not bring the club back on a well balanced path which is why golfers taught that method struggle so much with staying in balance and do bad things like bend their elbows in the takeaway. The other really stupid thing in golf instruction today is telling a beginner to square their front foot. Most people have naturally flared gaits and squaring the front foot will result in hip rotation restriction and hips blocked to the right in the finish UNLESS the front foot is rolled to the outside. So not surprisingly beginners who think “THOU MUST KEEP FEET SQUARE” is the 11th Commandment writ on a stone tablet do not know to roll their foot in the finish and instead block hips facing right which causes club to whip around left in finish bending elbows again and pulling them off balance. The goal is to start and finish the swing in balance with hips facing target and the easiest way for a beginner to do that is the same way all golfers did before 1970, simply flare the front foot as much as it takes to get the hips facing target in the finish and use a 1960s style true “one piece” hips/shoulders/hands together takeaway move. Fix the beginner’s takeaway and finish swing faults and not surprisingly the part in the middle - that hitting the ball straight to the target thing - works better automatically 😀
