I'd argue that the areas where Shadow Mario steals F.L.U.D.D. resulted in some pretty brilliant platforming.
Interestingly enough, when you view Ricco Harbor from Bianco Hills in the final game, the helipad is still just scaffolding that forms a square. I always thought that was just a technical thing to save memory, but now I assume that they just didn't change the background model after they added the pad into the real level.
While this channel may not upload as much as others this is easily one of the smartest ones.

It's the eyes. Those unblinking eyes that seem to pierce your soul, that always seem to be watching you, even when you stop watching the footage.
I'm 18 and it creeps me out. I worry about what it would have done to 8 year old me playing the game.
This was brilliant, mate. I personally loved this game. I think too many people had an SM64 hangover when this was released. In truth, I think it's aged really well as a result of some intelligent development choices. I like how it is built on what made SM64 successful, but is brave enough to implement some new ideas.
They want Mario to jump off a *REAL* Building...

also with my recent playthrough of this game I have found 2 misplaced animations and 1 unused animation in this game! and you can try them out too!
the 1st misplaced animation is the 1st that I discovered was an unused recovery animation. To view this you just need to get hit from behind and fall, when Mario is falling for long enough Mario will strangely recover in midair.
The best way to view this is to activate the super jump (via action replay) and go to the tall tower with the yellow goop in delfino plaza and you can see the unused animation better! I think this would have been used if Shadow Mario would have hit Mario from behind.
The 2nd misplaced animation is probably the easiest one to do, just ground pound with Yoshi. after Yoshi recovers from his ground pound Yoshi would recover from sliding (even thought he wasn't sliding), but when you slide Yoshi won't play his recovery animation.
This 3rd one is hard to explain, it's an unused animation, but, not really... anyway to view this all you need to do is run with the turbo nozzle and to jump and grab a shine sprite, and you do you'll see an unused(?) long jump animation
the best way to see it is at sunshine airport with the super jump code.
I think this would have been used when Mario would have jumped with the turbo nozzle but Mario doesn't let go of F.L.U.D.D. when he's jumping with the turbo nozzle, but you can see Mario's legs do the animation so it's hard to say if it's unused.
16:28 you can still see this in the final game (at least the US version) if you look at Rico Harbor from Banico Hills (or from other other levels) you can still see this platform!

I liked this game, but they really tripped up with the yoshis. In a normal mario game, it may be fine for him to disappear when he touched water. But mario sunshine has water EVERYWHERE, making yoshi only useful as a tool for completing specific tasks instead of an optional companion you have on your adventure, a la Super Mario World.

For a game themed around a tropical island where water is a-plenty, there's several aspects of this game that do not support that.
Firstly there's the Yoshis, as you said (which could swim perfectly fine in previous games!).
Secondly, Mario's swimming controls are bad in this game.
Thirdly, he can't use the rocket nozzle underwater, which would have been useful for getting out of it quickly.
And there's probably some other stuff...
+Caleb Jaaniste (K-leb) Sorry if you have already discovered this but it is possible to use the rocket in water. .. if you jump at the right time you can shoot out :)

Super Mario sunshine was truly a masterpiece. Only odyssei comes close to such Amazing Atmosphere. Gameplay wise odyssei is even far Superior

I love how the train that hits Luigi is a Lionel 408E.
It is actually possible to see green yoshi without hacking the game. Just keep spraying liquid until Yoshi starts flashing. He will be flashing in his green form. Quickly grab a shine and the shine animation will play with you on a green yoshi. This will disappear after you're done (of course).

Theres alot of unused text with a character called mayor asking mario for help in getting delfino island a 5 star rating which was the original plot of the game and a lot for the human tourist asking mario to do stuff for him lie get ice cream and find their missing daughter and luggage

As I was basically a Sonic kid, this game was actually one of the games that introduced me to Mario [though I played the original at my sister's old house later on] so yeah this was actually my first impression on the series along with Luigi's Mansion! haha
One of the most greatest games ever made along with luigi's mansion on the GameCube love them so much

Interestingly enough, the beta trailer showing Isle Delfino makes it look very mediterranean, it definitely has a Italian town feel to it.
I would have loved to have seen the original build used as an actual level in the game. so much more big and explorable. if ever comes a time that Nintendo remade SMS, they could include it, as well as the train. The train could bring you their, or other special new trial levels.
While i don't personally like Mario Sunshine this video does have some interesting facts about the game so good work there. :D

Mario Sunshine was originally 60 frames per second but they made it 30 frames per second because of framerate issues.
On a gamecube console? Yet some games on the PS4 & Xbox One can't even run on 60 FPS? I don't believe you.

The not so technical reason the enemies were so different, was because the game doesn't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom
You didn't mention Mario had FLUDD in the secret levels. Shadow Mario usually takes it from Mario.

Ehhhh.... it's a pretty long answer but basically... University year 2 began.
While initially I intended to continue to upload stuff, year 2 has involved a lot more work then the previous year. Heck my last 6 weeks have been spent organising, filming and editing a music video and documentary. Alongside writing a script, planning a budget, producing a show reel and pitching various things. I can't even begin to explain the amount of stress and pressure these projects can cause and so making youtube videos unfortunately isn't a priority as much as I'd like them to be.
The bad news? Well it'll be another few weeks until I can release some new stuff.
The good news? Come the christmas holidays I will have a lot of free time and in the spare time I have had, I've recorded the audio and planned out various new videos I can do. So if everything goes to plan, expect a lot of new stuff then!

UK University is exactly like US University. It's further eduction and sets me up better for a career once I leave, thus the ton of work I have to do all the time. Even my summer isn't free, I'm currently working a placement I need for 3rd year!

i never really liked 3d mario or Zelda games for some reason. only zelda game i beat was link to the past. guess i am really not a fan of any of the games the guy made maybe. just something about them was not fun to me. i did like 3d sonic though.

Mario Sunshine was just.... terrible imo... I just do not like it anything about it... I never even bothered completing it... I think I played about half way through and got seriously bored of how repetitive and un-fun it was to keep cleaning shit off the floor and enemies... just a bad idea for gameplay i think... and it only angered my OCD side further to think I had cleaned everything up only to get more crap thrown everywhere and do it again.... erg...
It could very well have been a ferry system, and not a train. Think!
