  • Growing up in a high control religion is so strange. Here I talk about my experiences in the Jehovah’s Witness religion.
In this video, I’m specifically talking about adults in their 40s and 50s who were infantilized, and how it was very unique compared to “the world.”
If you were ever offered a Bible study with Jehovah’s Witnesses, please do some research before accepting. Their goal is to ultimately convert you, and while they may seem sincere and genuine, and probably are, joining a high control religion can be severely damaging to one’s mental and physical health.

My goal was talking about my experiences to spread more awareness of the damages that have been done and are currently being done by this religious group.
If you have left, please find support groups, and I hope you continue to find your way to a better life.
Feel free to check out my TikTok, where I post more content about growing up a JW :)

I am also an author and have written the book house pet that describes the journey of a young man who has left the high control religion.
It’s a gay, slow burn, open door romance :) a.co/d/6J88qB0

It’s so sad the way they keep them mentally infantile. Even their tone when they talk to pretty much anybody is condescending

I basically have no family because of that religion. All of my life my cousins were not allowed to play with me. Imagine as a kid your own family and grandparents telling your cousins that you are a bad influence just because you read Harry Potter books and your parents aren’t witnesses. It really messes with you.

At least you weren't raised in the cult. That messes you up a lot more. This cult definitely breaks apart and/or puts strain on the family though, they have videos encouraging members to kick their children out of the house and shun them if they leave the religion. They recently lost their religious status in Norway due to that

The religion causes good people to do bad things and treat others cruelly, I’m sorry you grew up with family treating you that way :(
My JW family doesn’t talk to my anymore. It hurts but at the same time it’s nice to not be constantly mistreated by them.
