I appreciate you being honest in your video. I can't stand people who are sponsored and lie to make a product appear better than it is. At present I'm torn between the APR and the IE CAI, but like you, i want the noise and the power add (the little that it makes). I like to hear it suck air in, like the AEM's used to do back in the 90's. You could hear the CAI suck air into the engine and on a B18C Integra engine, the sound was masterful. Good luck with your channel.
I really liked this video. Recently got my RS5 tuned and though I feel the difference its not what I expected. However I've been looking at a carbon intake and maybe the combination of the two will make everything better. "Not a total waste but not a total gain" is accurate so far.
Its the box mate. I got the same RS5 and i got a open cold air intake and its super loud with turbo spool and dumping the air. I have a video if you want me to show you the sound
Fancy intakes have been the same since the dawn of the craft in the '50s, whether factory or aftermarket - mostly under hood looks followed by a bit more engine sound.
Have you experienced any heat issues by covering the ECU? I just bought one but have yet to install. Also, I've got the 034 intake and I can hear a significant increase in sound however the car has stage 1.
I feel like air intakes for the b9.5 rs5's are 95% for aesthetics/ 5% for sound/any real performance benefits. The carbon fiber looks amazing in the engine bay, but honestly I can't justify dropping $800+ just for an intake AEM hi flow filter + modification to the stock airbox is good enough for my broke ass. But I hear that you really unlock the potential of the intake artificial BOV noises if you team it up with upgraded downpipes. Only thing is they're a b*tch to install and access certain bolts.
That because the APR air intake is enclosed bro. Pretty sure you can remove the cover for more noise but if you wanted noise you should’ve went with an open air box
The thing is that most open ones are not street legal, and given to where it seems like he lives. Most likely they wouldn’t pass emissions. I live in a state where the wouldn’t pass emissions unless I got this APR intake which I plan to get for my A5 B9… Maybe he could take the cover off, but Im not sure exactly how it would work tho
Also all open air ones will make less power and just pull in hot air from the engine, you do get more noise unless u can get the filter down toward the bottom of the car
For that PITA T30, would you recommend a flexible socket, or a socket wrench of a certain length, or do you know what tool you would have used if you had it handy? I'd rather spend $20 on a tool than get frustrated for an hour.
Only thing I did was just stay persistent, there is a tool that I mentioned in the video that would make it really easy but I didn’t have it and yes it took me literally forever
@@ismmarreyes2110 YES! Google "T30 SLIDING T-HANDLE TORXCOMPATIBLE WRENCH" That thing slid in there with ease inbetween the piping. I'd recommend also a magnet before pulling it out so it doesn't drop down.

It really just depends on replacing the pipe diameter and air flow restrictions that the OEM shipped the cars out with. Normally they have to cut some corners due to meeting EPA requirements. I can't imagine AUDI not making sure the motor is getting all the air it needs for the stock turbo/engine components. The best CAIs require proper tuning to utilize the increased airflow. (Same with exhaust/headers) I had a K&N CAI for my F-150 and it sounded good and was good for the butt-dyno. Sometimes you just gotta send it for yourself. lol I ended up going full-send and getting the VMP Odin kit for it last year. loooooool. Trucks shouldn't be this much fun.

It's probably way too late but the IE intake has a much better/pronounced sound VS the APR intake when it comes to intake noise

hey man i'd like to hear it i just got an rs5 and im currently tuned and i've been looking at some intakes to get and the apr has been catching my eye
As someone on a forum once said, “our car’s breath just fine”
love your honesty, you're a real G
Should've got 034, that one adds nice sound
I added the APR intake to my 2019 RS5 as well. I too am disappointed in the lack of sound improvement. It does look nice under the hood.
I too have added it to my 2018 RS5, not much
Sound difference, but a big gain in performance after a remap

Carbon fiber intakes🔥
Looks REALLY NICE though.
Where did you buy the ecu cover at?
Have you experienced any heat issues by covering the ECU? I just bought one but have yet to install. Also, I've got the 034 intake and I can hear a significant increase in sound however the car has stage 1.
I haven't had any heat issues with mine. The techs at audi dealer said it could happen but I haven't seen any issues after 2 years.
Did you tune it?

You need a stabilizer and a mic, or a tripod like in that short clip.Hope your channel grows good luck. Less talking helps.

I’d say a flexible socket would be better or something that swivels. It’s been a while since I did it but I believe that’s worth trying
T30 Sliding T-Handle Torx®-Compatible Wrench from parktool will get this off.
Now you need a RaceLine engine strut kit to replace those crimped aluminum fence posts😏🤪
You bought it for the sound????
Did you actually see any improvement in 0-60 and/or 1/4mi times?
It’s 10 hp at best. That’s not changing times lmao
How did you get the bolts off the bottom of the inlets? Literally been at it for an hour now
Only thing I did was just stay persistent, there is a tool that I mentioned in the video that would make it really easy but I didn’t have it and yes it took me literally forever
@Everything Speed I can't even figure out how you got something to touch the bolt and have leverage to move it

Intake should add power, not a sound. Doing performance mod just for a sound, that's a pity.

🤣🤣🤣🤣@F U Audi. Got the SuB
Intakes are never worth it. Most of the dynos are fake gains anyway. They clear adaptations and then show a power gain that isn't actually there
The apr is a rip off. Roc euro is way louder for a fraction of the price.
