such a beautiful reaction to constant interruptions, she just stops talking and that's it. like she does not really care. like.." you don't want to listen to me, ok, I couldn't care less"
I think there are ‘interrupting’ interviews and there are interviewers who interrupt. This is more like active interruptions if you like, in the sense that the interruptions support the flow of information. Listen to the parts of the interview where Emma goes deeper; he shuts up. This is a skilled interviewer.
He should have just booked Kenneth because he seems to be all he is interested asking her about in between back handedly asking her why she is so successful. He is gross. She deserved better. Time told us all whose career has been more important. This is why we can't listen to the people who try to minimize us every step of the way. She wins, and best of all she refused to even see it as a competition. She simply is her undeniably brilliant self.
True that, such a nervous and agressive energy coming from him...ruined the interview completely. Also asking her about kids like that... But she's such a sweetheart.
Charlie Rose is interrupting her far too much. Let her speak for goodness sake! And then...her husband, Kenneth Branagh left her shortly after this interview.
Branagh didn't leave her. She discovered his affair and divorced him. There is much speculation that he was jealous of her success. She has two Oscars. He has none.
@@user-jd2pe3wp2e ???? Maybe she knew Brannah's affair but she is not some "feeble poor woman".. She is fine now and its majorly his loss.. she is amazing and men still attach their own value "as men" to being more successful than the women they are with... its ridiculous URGH... but lets not pity her... HE IS pitiable
I do not know where that urban legend came from, it was an open marriage, she was with her current husband G. Wise before separating Kenneth Branagh. It was Branagh who requested Tompson's divorce. She has always agreed to win sympathies by making the victim and letting people believe that story. she takes advantage of the gentleness and silence of Ken Branagh
wishbone panda yeah, they got divorced not long after she found out he had an affair with Helena Bonham Carter when making Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Though I’m not sure if the speculations of him being jealous of his wife is correct, especially with the awards you mentioned. Both of them broke out at around the same time and have done well for themselves during and after their marriage. I’m not sure if he really cares about having an Oscar or not. Most don’t care about that sort of thing and he’s never struck me as being upset for not having at least one Academy Award from the various interviews I’ve seen of him. It’s unfortunate he had an affair and their marriage ended the way it did. It seemed like they loved each other very much when they were together, but all it takes is one dumb thing to ruin a marriage and an affair is a sure way to end a marriage.
How sad that we don't see interviews like this with deep interesting conversations nowadays, all or the majority of the talk shows are full of stupid questions and monologs so shallow Emma Thompson is a very intelligent woman we can't listen to her brilliant mind these days because of the bad interviewers
I appreciate when Charlie Rose just SHUTS UP AND LISTENS. I don’t appreciate it when he interrupts. My understanding is that the Charlie Rose show was about deep conversation, and to a degree it seems mission partly accomplished, but in some sense his interruptions, redirects and literally talking over her are unnecessary, very distracting and downright rude. Charlie Rose wants an introspective format, but he hampers it by not being a good listener at times. Remains of the Day is always one of my top 5 favorite movies ever. Such nuanced performances. Another Ivory/Merchant gem of a film.
huh...strange title choice. For the record, this is one of my favorite Charlie Rose interviews. It is a treat to watch Ms. Thompson at the height of her career here.
When she speaks of looking for a word and not being able to find it as opposed to letting the mind go it reminded me of Creating a Role.I wonder has she read it?She's such a natural. Some actors just get it.She's right there at the top.
Terrible interview. He doesn't let her even finish a thought and he's on to an unrelated questions. Don't people even listen to the person or are they just getting the job done. How rude and abrupt he is. I'm sure she didn't think mush of it.
At 31:30, he mentions Helena Bonham Carter. You can tell Emma is uncomfortable (tell tale sign, touching her face). I wonder if she knew of the affair at this time.
Hiya!!! Love Emma Thompson-she truly is amazing!!! It is interesting to hear her speaking about life at that point in time know the great movies to come. I have just one question though, how is Dave connected to Emma??? Maybe I missed something

Damn, just let her speak. She is so intelligent and eloquent, he is being so gross.

I’m gonna need him to stop interrupting her. I cant stand him. But whatever, she’s a goddess nonetheless! ❤️❤️ what a beauty
I don't think he wanted to be rude. He got carried away and made it a 1 on 1 conversation instead of a one sided interview.
True that, such a nervous and agressive energy coming from him...ruined the interview completely. Also asking her about kids like that... But she's such a sweetheart.
He always did that. One of the reasons I used to just turned him off because I couldn’t stand it
So indicative of his personality and also I hate how much he refers to Kenneth B. Like she isn't a stand alone star.
was thinking the same. He breaks the rythem and the energy dies out.
God, I love Emma Thompson. She is my favourite actress ever!
Charlie Rose is interrupting her far too much. Let her speak for goodness sake! And then...her husband, Kenneth Branagh left her shortly after this interview.
Tracy4aminute Agree. Especially the movie star part.

The interviewer demonstrated poor manners by inerrupting Emma Thomspon constantly. l admire here patience with him.
Emma is so beautiful I love her so much! I watch all her movies, I just think she's such good actress!
shes very engageing. has a way of drawing you into her,
Rough hearing her talk about Helena Bonham Carter.

Goddamn Charlie Rose is an infuriating interviewer. There’s no discussion.
Love and adore Emma but had to turn it off almost immediately because I can't stand his interrupting her!
Hairstyle adjusting her nice feature and skin tone was perfect.
Beautiful actress.
She's so beautiful!
Yes, she's truly beautiful
I feel honoured we share the same birthday
Eternally watchable
Aw I thought it'd last the full hour! She's an interesting women who is well spoken.
I did not appreciate Charlie interrupting so often
She has flawless skin… a natural beauty enhanced by her witty, articulate personality
Younger people are more funny than older people. In the case of Emma Thompson the reverse happens.
such a beautiful human Emma
In here 16:43 is the secret to the serenity in Emma, although she has just expressed being impatient.

Charlie's in love. Look at his 👀. Lust aside, Emma Thompson was stunning. She was great in "Stranger Than Fiction".
Hiya!!! Love Emma Thompson-she truly is amazing!!! It is interesting to hear her speaking about life at that point in time know the great movies to come. I have just one question though, how is Dave connected to Emma??? Maybe I missed something
wow impressed...and she is quite funny actually
she is beautiful
The Royal Shouting Company - ha, who says women can't be funny.
An excellent interview. Emma has always played prominently in my Life on a Desert Island dream. ;-)
It was at this time period Branagh was lying to and cheating on Emma.
Maybe Rose was DRUNK, for this interview, but I do wish he'd LET HER SPEAK. Geeeeez.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jesus, fella, let her finish her thoughts.
Rise and Fall- Burleigh. Awesome text. Still a standard work.
It's by William Shirer.
Rudeness: rose interrupts her. B c she’s a woman?
This interview done at time period when rose is sexually assaulting women, causing him to be fired
No guilt or regret typical
'I try not to...' Wise.
