Excellent clear instructions Hannah with a subtle lighting setup that brings all the attention to your beautiful model. The kicker accentuates the models lovely hair framing her face. This subtle frame holds our attention on here face. You look radiant as well Hannah. A very affective technique with a beautiful result.
Im sorry to ask this question... Im still fairly new on lighting.... Is it ok for the rim light to be on the same side as the key light? I mean if the key light is on the left side, should the rim be on the right side? Or its ok for the rim to be also on the left side?
The kicker light was at too low of an f stop for my taste, and I would have used a hairlight above her to highlight her hair, otherwise you have what you have--a big black blob. I also would have positioned the main light higher to give me loop lighting ratherr than a shadow from her nose that is on the side of her nose rather than looping under it. Anyways, just my thoughts on how I would have improved on this photo.
Very well produced and great instructional video!
Thank you so much Darrell!

Do you prefer only one rim light or two (left and right)?
The way you explained it is exactly the way I needed to hear it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Absolutely nailed this, thank you.

Great stuff Hannah, I’ve got to start using a kicker more often. It’s only a little thing but makes the image that little bit extra special.
Thanks Charlie! Very true! Good luck! =]

Hannah, do you think that, for example, a B10 with 20° grid is a good alternative to 1x3 softbox?
Hi Slaven! Yes definitely. The 20 degree grid is great for a kicker and I often use this as an alternative if I want to travel light.
@@HannahCouzensPhotography thank you for your time and reply :)

There are no rules how to use them. I prefer to use them on the shadow side, but you can also use them on the other side if that is what you prefer =]
excellent and thanks
You are welcome Jon!
Thanks
You are most welcome =]
Can you do a video in the future with natural light only? Outdoor photography with natural light only that is. Thank you and God bless
Thank you! We will look to create more content like that in the near future!
