It's because of videos like this, why I can't get into electric bikes... Or electric cars. We need that sound that completes the experience. Well, at least to me. 🤷🏾♂️
Personally I like the sound of the gunner. I still have a sweet spot for Victory. I think most vtwins sound good if you have the right stage one on it. Never had a vrod hard to tell over a video but I'm sure I'd love it too. Thanks as always good job🤜🤛🍻
I own a M109 and love it, but I think the v rod has the best start up sound and idle but for riding I think the victory takes it for the win cause who wants to sit around and listen to it idle when you can ride it and listen to it sing! beauty bikes !!
I remember hearing you come up the road in Birmingham, I heard you arrive almost 45 seconds before I saw you and over a minute when you left. That M109 gave me goose bumps hearing it. For me it had to be the 109…The VRod comes in second.
I see why you love something on each of them. I have always been aftermarket exhaust on Japanese motorcycles. When you put the riding footage on… man the vrod’s dual exhaust is something else. So I have to agree with you there but the victory is magical too.
Great video Bicasso! Now I was trying not to think about the effect from the exhausts. And just listen to the engine sound coming out of the exhaust 🤔. In the garage sound check the Porsche HD wins it. On the ride the gunner’s pops and bangs! Wow man! HD was close on the ride tho. I grew up with my dad racing two stroke Saab V4’s and driving old HD’s and V2 Kawasakis. So the V2 and V4 engine sounds strike close to the hart. 👌🏾
Not being a H-D fan I was surprised to find the Vrod sounds best to me, like a well tuned precision machine. It's got a smooth, even cadence and sounds nothing like the straight piped pushrod Big Twins, which to me sound like rattly, rusted out old lawn mowers.
About a year ago I commented on the video where you were changing out the m109r transmission clutches, because I was thinking about getting one. A year later I have a 06 m109r partially because of you.
It might change based on hearing them in person, but I liked the 109 for start up and the gunner for revving. But for overall for both revving and start up I'd go with the vrod.
My first and only bike (so far) is a used 2013 HD Vrod muscle. When I look at and compare other bikes and options I feel so spoiled; it really feels like the perfect bike for me. 1250 cc stage 1 w/Vance&Hines 2n1 to haul my 340lb frame around & brembo brakes with available ABS to stop it. 240mm rear Michelin Scorcher tire together with the huge 5gal under seat tank and top of engine air box give it an almost impossible to drop peg scraping extra wide and extra low center of gravity. The super comfortable forward controls and nice wide soft factory seat make this muscle cruiser one of the most intuitive and easy to ride bikes I have ever ridden. The engine is basically bulletproof being watercooled and designed for racing (see Düsseldorf test). Because of the hydroformed frame design the bike doesn't get the death wobble at highway speeds like a lot of other traditional Harleys. One of the best parts still is it's worst part, or should I say best part again... Because of the hate from the diehard Harley enthusiasts this bike didn't really sell so you can get a used one for cheap, but since it's a Harley and well built as long as you take care of it it can basically hold it's value; from personal experience I was just recently offered trade-in value at what I originally purchased it for.
1st: I LOVE the fact you gave us a sampling UNDER LOAD. Cold start + driveway rev is one thing, but everything sounds different under load. 2nd: HD just knows how to do V-Twin sound for an American audience, for reals. 3rd: Great work like usual! Final notes: I found your channel originally trying to research M109r sound bites a couple years ago. I have noticed that 109s don't really present their sound well in a recording - at least not how most YT videos done on a phone do (clipped mics held 6" away from a 4" hard krome roadburner...). At the time, your channel had (still has TBH) the best YT representation of a mildly modded 109. The first time I heard one in person it changed my perspective entirely. They are SO MUCH MEANER sounding in person.
You are right about the V-Rod sounding the best at start-up. But I think when you’re riding them the M109 and Victory sounds better. Could be that you were on the highway when you rode the V-Rod vs the back roads on the other two bikes.
Sup Brandon??? When I first watched one of your videos you were on the 9 and used a drone to film parts of the video…I was hooked from that point because you were doing two of my favorite things. Back to THIS video, since I owned an M109r (2006), you would “think” I would pick that first, BUT… COLD START 1) HD 2) Suzuki 3) Victory REV 1) Victory 2) Suzuki 3) HD (had a sewing machine whine) LOAD TEST 1) Suzuki 2) Victory 3) HD Those are “my” picks from listening to your video through a Bose Bluetooth speaker. Thats a bike you don't here enough about i personally have a gunner but my father in-law has a meanstreak and that thing is mean. It has hard chrome with the baffles you can here it rumble for miles
it is tough question which the best cruiser which the best sound i am torn between the Hyabusa and the Kawasaki H2 with its super charger as the best all round muscle cruiser bike. But then with a wide choice of bikes you find each have something unique to offer yamaha with their toque monster cross plane engine, but are you happy with seat that is nearly 33inches from the floor? Or an epic Vrod out of America man they feel like you actually sitting on a can of thunder. Just for sheer epic cool noise and feel the ground shake through your motorcycle boots as you wait for the lights to change fro red to to green in 10 to 20 seconds just to be in that precise place the moment in time a V twin has street red in monster proportions. Each will have their own personal choice and each in their own unique way is right.
Might I add? As an M-90 owner, these engines AND the Victory have 'offset' cranks which give that classic 'pulse'. While the V-Rod is (I believe) an even crank. That is the source for the sound of those engines, what you do with the exhaust adds another parameter altogether.
I wanted the gunner really bad. I think it looks the coolest. However, I own a v-rod and it tears the asses off the newer 114 and 107 models. I’ve never rode the m109, but I feel like it’d fit my 6’4 frame best. I also think Japanese quality is bulletproof!
bought a 2020 honda shadow as my first bike last year and put a set of cobra streetrod slashdowns on it and let me tell you, it makes that lil 750 vtwin sound SOOOO much better than it should

God that V-Rod sounds SO good, and better than any cruiser in existence. It sounds like a 200hp race tuned Ducati 90 degree V-twin. It even has a nasty mean gear whine. I can't believe Harley didn't try to keep that engine in production in some way, just because of the sound alone.
Thanks man, you have unique experience of owning these three... I won't comment on bikes as I am super biased toward Vrod, owning one... ;) Great video and effort to share your experience with your bikes, thank you.

Try a 109 with Vance and Hines pipes,it blows all of them away. Maybe the Cobra fuel power pro black has something to do with it? At any rate, the combo left a new ZL1 Camaro 20 feet behind, unable to catch up!
While I have not owned an M109, I have owned multiple Victory 100 and 106, as well as several Vrod including a CVO Screaming Eagle. Might I suggest you add a Victory Octane to that mix.
The Victory 106 is 1731cc I had a Suzuki Boulevard M109R and I loved that bike. It really needs a 6 speed transmission something fierce but is a great riding and handling bike but that rear tire is one expensive bitch! I’ll for sure buy me another one one day and add it to the garage.
I was surprised to find that I liked the V-rod Sound. What we need to hear now is more of a breakdown on the ride difference. Need to add the Indian also . . .Didn't see that in the garage
Purely sound, that 109 sounds best to me!

Overall the Gunner for me. I love everything about it. On my list to own one someday. Take care.
Before listening to all of them, I was sure I would prefer the M109... but, I think the V-Rod won for the best sound.

The tone of idle on that V Rod but while riding, that Gunner takes it.👊🏼
I love the sound of the V&H pipes on the V-Rod. Wish they still made the bike and the slip ons.
Victory or v-rod, either one works for me. But I personally prefer my own roadliner 1900
Raider 2012 SCL $20k msrp more expensive than vmax gen 2
