I love it. Yes, us petrol heads famously don’t like the idea of CVT gearboxes….. but Toyota are just so dam good at it, that it’s kind of a no brainer. Toyota have refined and distilled this technology SO much that the buyer can enjoy a wonderfully reliable, refined and economical car that will last! I totally respect what Toyota are doing. Great review by the way 👍
Even on ECO and on Adaptive Cruise Control, it moves like a sports car when needed.....and the Nutters in Milton Keynes certainly do need it with internal city roads at 70 with off=ramps of 30. Trust the Cruise Control for Braking safely. a touch of the pedal follows the car in front and brakes as it does and the opposite. I love it, and my other car is an Audi A6. Not suitable for Milton Keynes,,,,But we are moving to Yorkshire...Both perform amazingly there, Audi 56 mpg and Yaris 68 using CC
I own 23 reg CHR (previous model). My Aunt has Yaris Cross. Brilliant car. This looks good. The 1.5 hybrid is so economical. Compared to 1.8 hybrid, it accelerates just as well. It's not slow and handles very well. My only bug bear as a Toyota owner is sound insulation, especially between 80km and 100km (50mph to 62mph). Road noise Compared to my previous 2014 vw diesel, Golf is noticeable. Love these cars all the same. Great review.
Nothing comes close long term to Toyota especially in the UK now they offer a 10 Year 100k Warranty, The Quality remains long after the price is Forgotten.
I purchased a brand new Design spec summer 2023. Very happy with it so far. Decent enough power and good fun on country lanes with great handling. My spec has 16 inch wheels so nice and comfortable and soaks up ruts in the road really well. Even on the motorway it has more than enough go and handles long trips with ease. Economy is excellent with 60 mpg on motorway runs no problem and on short runs around town I often get 70 plus mpg
Great review! I updated from the previous model Yaris MK4 Design spec to the 2024 Yaris Design, and I like the infotainment improvements - but _wireless_ Android Auto & Carplay & wireless phone charging are only available on Excel spec and above. Another thing to be aware of is that a spare wheel no longer comes as standard. Having said that, something not mentioned in the video is the improvements to the driving assistance & safety features. The camera and radar sensors now have a wider field of view, and the adaptive cruise control, lane assist, lane centering, auto-braking & steering, road sign recognition, etc., have all been revised to be more accurate, smoother, less intrusive and more driver-friendly, and include some helpful new features.

@@stevecarey6840 Some of the early MK 4 cars do seem to have a poor 12v battery - I heard that Toyota may have had a bad batch from their supplier. A faulty battery can be replaced. I often leave mine a week or more without driving it and never had a problem with any Yaris hybrid. I've not heard of the problem in the 2024 update, but a good dealer should replace a faulty battery under warranty.
Great review Tish. It’s getting expensive for top spec and probably makes a great used buy. Did consider it but just ordered a new Scala Monte Carlo 1.5 DSG in velvet red. Nice to see you are in the same Cockapoo/doodle club.
Interesting to have a look at the mid-life upgrades. I run an Excel one made in late 2022, so it’s just over a year old on the road now. Apart from the changed multi info display behind the wheel, one of the noticeable adjustments on the one on display is that of the air con ventilator outputs under the main screen - they have moved them out a bit, whereas they are back a bit under the screen. Might depend how tall you are, but it looks a sensible adjustment a bit - although it has lost the rubber based tray on which an iPhone or the equivalent can be stabled on; swings and roundabouts perhaps. The main snag with the one I have is that it’s 12V battery is a bit on the small side re. capacity, especially in cold weather. The quoted capacity of 35 Ah is only accurate at 20 °C - less than that in a typical winter. Toyota do recommend so many hours for these cars to run per week or so to avoid the problem (at least 30 mins per week, according to them), but having had the problem of it failing to start in late Jan this year, I have occasionally topped up the battery via a proper external charger, and also added a small solar panel product from Halfords that might reduce the problem some of the time. According to Toyota, the typical minimum load in these is around 40 mA - which tots up to 0.96 Ah per day, but it can be a fair bit more than that, if anything is done with the main power off, like communicating with it from your phone etc using the MyT app, e.g. Alright, all modern cars can suffer from this type of problem, but the need to squeeze in a small battery under the back seat is part of the issue on these.
1999 i had the brand new £9k first Gen in silver with its space craft digital dash...and monster 68bhp! 1 litre... i drove it for 6 years... 62k miles later I PX to a brand new £24K Honda EP3 Civic Type R in Milano red... finally, I could over take on the motorway!! 😂😂😂 now in 2024... the Yaris HOW MUCH!?
The increase in power is ten percent not five, and the noise is from the engine and not the CVT.. Give it more torque, and the engine doesn't need to rev as high due to that additional torque... Good review notwithstanding
I do enjoy your reviews, Tish - you get the kind of cars maybe i could own one day. The Yaris is no doubt a great car, but the pricing is punchy! Top end Yaris is about the same as a Lexus LBX.
They look good I’ve seen a few around, obviously I want the highest spec, but, the price tag is too high unfortunately, knock 4K off then I would buy👍🏻 Or buy second hand with a few thousand off price and you can haggle the price slightly better on second hand👍🏻 The secret is, let salesman or manager know your interested in a car, tell them I will buy now if you knock £££ off now, this then will go to the manager, he or she will come out a greet you , you explained your plan, most of the time they will say yes, because it gets the car off the forecourt and less hassle for them… believe me it a game changer, customer is always right👍🏻
WARNING ON AUXILIARY BATTERY FAILURE. I have a 21 plate Yaris Hybrid purchased a year old. Toyota give you a 10 year warranty if you have it regularly serviced. So far all ok.However the warranty does NOT cover the 12 auxiliary volt starting battery. And this is a WARNING to any Hybrid owner not just Toyota. Went to get into the car in January and start it and it was coming up with a dash warning brake issue contact dealer.Pressed the starter button to turn off and then pressed again and now completely dead ! Rang my Toyota dealership confident warranty covered it. Bring it in we will have a look at it. Er yea its dead !! Had to call the RAC who said auxiliary 12v battery was dead but he got some charge in but said it needs a new battery as a cell was dead. Took it into dealership and the battery is NOT covered. Basically short runs were not putting enough charge into the 12v auxiliary battery and the warranty does not cover the battery. So I would have to pay for a new battery at £145 and also........wait for it purchase a solar panel to put on the dash to trickle charge it !! This panel is slightly larger than A4 paper. After contacting Toyota Head Office and complaining, they agreed to provide the battery and wiring for the solar panel free and I purchased the solar panel for £40, and I asked for the old battery back which is under the rear drivers side seat in case they didn't replace it which although a NEW battery still is not covered by the warranty. But why did the warranty not cover the battery ? Covid came along a people did hardly any miles which resulted in lots of flat batteries so Toyota moved the goal posts and the aux battery is not covered .But also be aware leave your car at the airport for a couple of weeks and its 3 plus years old your auxiliary battery may be dead. Has this new Yaris got the optional extra........A SOLAR PANEL !!!!!
>>>> I had a Yaris hybrid - left it unused for 2 weeks and it wouldn’t start as the 12V battery was flat; happened again and then found out this is a known problem.
@@軍曹-n6jThat sounds like a decent explanation to me. Very interesting and good to know since I'll get my premiere edition in December and use it only once in a while now and then.
I do like it, but struggling with the price we are looking at downsizing we have a top spec three year old mazda 3 and that cost us the same as that top spec yaris so might stay with what we have got for now
Great video Tish👍 The way you explained the differences between those 3 hybrid systems was easy to understand. These sporty yet frugal hybrids interest me and i'm curious to see how much depreciation the most potent 'GR Sport' will have from its £28k pricetag. A sub 5000 mile Civic e:HEV also happens to cost around £28k, so i'm leaning towards the Honda - but that car will most likely cost more to insure and fill up too. Would be great to see you review the brand new Prius - never thought i'd say a Prius looked so cool with its lamborghini-esqe wedge shape!
We have recently purchased the 'Strong Hybrid' in the form of a Yaris Excel replacing a previous model of 2 years ago, I cant remember its name but it was similar spec What a WONDERFUL car the new Yaris is. Once you have mastered the somewhat complex Cruise Control, driving in Towns or on Motorways is a Joy. Learn how to adapt to it and it is near perfect. The rear view Camera on the old one annoyed me by being out of perspective, fixed in the new one. Upholstery enhanced, suspension and brakes are better. I Love it £300/m = Loy
I’ve had a hybrid Corolla through work , would never ever have considered one before hand , now , i would not look at anything else when it comes to buying my own personal car ! …they are brilliant !
Driven a lot of regular automatics over the years. If you floor those you get kick down to a lower gear and you actually get more noise , the exceleration is not silent.
Plug-in hybrid works like a strong hybrid after the battery is empty. And it also charges when you decelerate and hit the brakes. So you're not just carrying around an empty battery even though you never charged it.
I'm a driving instructor and I love the Yaris. I've got the 2022 design, I've done 45k on lessons in it and I've not had one issue, not one, not even a bulb. I get about 65mpg, sometimes nearly 70mpg, dirt cheap to run, it's comfortable apart from rear space, nippy, and I'll definitely get another when I'm ready for a change.
I'm picking up an Icon model in a week or so, what are your thoughts on that one? Loved the video, very informative, but alas my dealer probably just wanted a sale.......
I have just bought a new Yaris’24 and I have a Prius + 2014, even the smaller screen version seems to me too big and intrusive, why the heck such a competition between builder about that. Power/weight ratio feels quite good also for the 116CV version.
The Yaris has always been a great little car. I have aunts and uncles who drive them and love them. This new model looks great but i don't like the bi-tone paint job. And that top price!!!! I just got a top of the range VW Tiguan for just a couple of grand more!!!
Cute & well thought. Also seems very stable ... so, even in a lateral crash with a large SUV ... I don't see it wheels up too easy. Definitely a city car for a woman. But I know serious men who have Yaris ... for their daily city trips ... and appreciate it for its economical style. I praise the fact that the rear doors have normal, decent door handles 👍(and not that stupid solution present on Clio cars ).
I travel a lot on the M1, I’ve seen loads of these even saw a whole trailer of 8 blue cars, it’s a beautiful colour and the interior is very impressive obviously you pay a little more 130bhp in a tiny light car is quick only one thing you car do do around £50 just change the air filter panel which lets 10% more air into the engine which gives you 3o5 more bhp with more power, and knocks off around 1to1.5 off 0-60
I own the preface lift version, a Dynamic spec which was quickly withdrawn during the chip shortage in 2022, I have the JBL stereo system, blind spot monitoring all round parking sensors etc. It has grown on me somewhat and I like driving it, but I only paid £22k for it, so I won’t be trading up to the equivalent model! Not at £28-£29k! Too much Toyota! Too much! 😮
ดีไซน์ต่างจากประเทศไทยมากตอนนี้ ฉันอยากให้ส่วนของไฟท้ายมาอยู่ในไทยคงจะลงตัว The design is very different from Thailand now. I wish the tail light part could be in Thailand. It would be perfect.
I love ours ❤, don't let the 0-60 time deceive you, it's still shifts for a little car, it's like a go-kart for the road. Also, great mpg & residuals. Yes, a little higher in price, but it holds its value compared to the competition.
Is the auxiliary battery still under the rear seat, and is it a standard flooded lead acid battery like the predecessor, or have they reverted to the safer AGM battery they used before that?
Great review! Would be great to know it’s motorway mpg? I have an Ioniq hybrid which gives superb motorway economy but it’s 4 years old so potentially looking at options but options are very much lacking
only 3 years ago I bought the new shaped Octavia brand new but pre registered 1.5 tsi first edition for £17995.00 and now Toyota want £23000.00 for a base model super mini, they won't be getting my money!
Yeah it's crazy prices. Go through a broker and it's cheaper, the premiere can be had for 26.2k. I had a 2016 icon MK3, now got the MK4 design. The improvements are big to the MK4, I didn't like driving mid-long distance on the MK3. The MK4 is outstanding.
I have a Honda Jazz, you can't go wrong with the Yaris either but for me the Yaris is too cramped inside. In the Jazz you have the feeling sitting in a much bigger car than it actually is.
Just bought myself a brand new Yaris design. Pick it up in a few weeks. They are quality the top model not worth the extra money in my opinion but each to their own.
I m sure it's going to be reliable but I test drove the pre facelift one and it doesn't even have LED interior lights nor registration number plate lights!
The "Glow Worm" interior lights annoyed the hell outa me too, especially as there isn't a light for the rear passengers. However, it's a cheap & easy fix, albeit with a bit of an embarrassing moment, when I accidentally pressed the SOS button while changing the bulbs. I can actually see things inside & in the vanity mirrors at night now. I haven't bothered with the number plate lights yet. The new one does seem to have some nice upgrades but I'll be keeping my late, full spec Excel '22 Excel for as long as I'm still able to drive it (70 yo), I bought it while you could still bet the Tech Pack so it has the HUD etc.
>>>> I had a Yaris hybrid - left it unused for 2 weeks and it wouldn’t start as the 12V battery was flat; happened again and then found out this is a known problem.
It has the best CVT, AISIN same with the old automatics AISIN are the best, would be better with 4 cylinders and no turbo. Toyota engine as for a 3 cylinder appears to be better than all the rest, My auntie that lives in Canada bought a 1.8 Corolla brand new and did 380,000 miles in it with routine servicing, talking about a petrol not a diesel, 17 years it lasted
Toyota and Honda are the most reliable cars in the world after a 15yr study…. I believe that, yes this car is absolutely great, all I see in the M1 is these cars very popular now, I prefer to go Hybrid than full electric…
Don’t understand why you and others would be shocked in pricing when you consider they have buy materials etc etc then r&d for future cars etc then paying taxes staff etc. the question is value is it worth it .
Hello there, It's a nice car. Maybe I want to buy this car, but then the GR-sport. Do you now something about the fuel consumption? I drive the car from Amsterdam to Paris at the speed of 100km/hour. (consumption?). Greetings from The Netherlands.
These are great cars for first time drivers. these things keep going just change oil and filters. hyrid version give huge mpg..its better than a vw polo
This is an excellent and practical review by someone who knows about cars. The presenter needs to work on her grammar but will because she is clearly a hard worker and has intelligence and perceptions others lack. Rear seat space and height off the ground needed to be demonstrated and can perhaps be edited in. I have subscribed.
You're really making me want to buy one, i dont know if this is just a sales tactic or you're really enjoying that car 😂 I guess i'll find out when i buy it next month.
The wife really like likes the GR Sport but at nearly 30k for a new one it’s a definite no. Whilst the 2024 has had a few tweaks it makes the marginally different used models look far better value. I’ve seen year old GR Sports come in at least £5000 cheaper than new. I’m sure it will appeal to many and be a good seller for Toyota but for me it’s just too expensive , pretty much like every new car on the market now.
Personally i think the prices are crazy. I think with that kind of money people would rather buy a slighty larger car (maybe even a second hand Corolla).Still Toyota is a great reliable brand.
@@AutoSocialUK I agree , still i am interested in buying one but the price doesn't justify what you are getting. I could also buy a Ford Puma for the same kind of money which is a much bigger car. Rumors are Toyota is also releasing another EV this year.
Owned a Yaris hybrid for 6 weeks - it is the most boring dreary car I have ever owned and it’s going back, it’s been seen by two main dealers with faults on its roadside assistance and internal sensors - and there are constant issues with its tyre pressure monitors. It is absolutely no fun to drive, and is plasticky and cheaply finished. Avoid.
I am driving a Yaris Hybrid for over twelve years now. I always wanted a little more comfort that only Lexus could provide. But I do not like the bulky appearance of an SUV, so I kind of felt stuck with the much more elegant Yaris. Now it looks I am getting the best of two worlds, a small almost sporty car and a fair share of luxury. 😎😇
Love 💕 the interior, seats, gear handle and the screen, dashboard is a bit vague, but nice. The exterior is simple and unusually design (don't like it) and the vehicle is much to small. Nothing more I can say. Great review Tish, you look great.
Totally miss everything so refined about the Toyota full Hybrid tech., other than the 20 years bulletproof e-CVT noise. Lol. But the useless screen is bright.
There are some pretty good deals going on the outgoing model. Just picked up a new Yaris GR Sport with £3750 off list price and 3 years free servicing and 1 MOT included. Great second car for commutes into a city.
Great review as usual of a very good car. Agree with you on pricing completely. It is very expensive for a small car albeit a good one. Keep up the good work and I hope you'll be able to review a Volvo XC40 B3 or B4, not the electric ones in the not too distant future. 🫡
Who the hell buys new Toyotas lol. You can buy one with 50k miles and I won't even doubt it's reliability as long as it's not rusted through and got regular services

I travel a lot on the M1, I’ve seen loads of these even saw a whole trailer of 8 blue cars, it’s a beautiful colour and the interior is very impressive obviously you pay a little more 130bhp in a tiny light car is quick only one thing you car do do around £50 just change the air filter panel which lets 10% more air into the engine which gives you 3o5 more bhp with more power, and knocks off around 1to1.5 off 0-60
1.2 tons isn't exactly light I'd say. 🤔
@@monkeytheo That’s the normal weight for a small car early models have a lighter 1.3ltr engine this has a 1.5ltr engine with 130bhp very nippy
Too much! 😮
ดีไซน์ต่างจากประเทศไทยมากตอนนี้ ฉันอยากให้ส่วนของไฟท้ายมาอยู่ในไทยคงจะลงตัว
The design is very different from Thailand now. I wish the tail light part could be in Thailand. It would be perfect.
I have a new Yaris hybrid it is doing 72 mpg it is a bit tiny it goes very well up hills plenty off power
Quick question what drives better this or the cross ?
only 3 years ago I bought the new shaped Octavia brand new but pre registered 1.5 tsi first edition for £17995.00 and now Toyota want £23000.00 for a base model super mini, they won't be getting my money!
Crazy prices. I'll be keeping my 2018 Icon Tech til I pack up driving in about 2027 aged 70.
Just curious, are those mids dashboard speakers?
I have a Honda Jazz, you can't go wrong with the Yaris either but for me the Yaris is too cramped inside. In the Jazz you have the feeling sitting in a much bigger car than it actually is.
miss the smaller compact sporty design of the past both Toyota and Honda like jazz yaris
Just bought myself a brand new Yaris design. Pick it up in a few weeks. They are quality the top model not worth the extra money in my opinion but each to their own.
but at least did you get the 130hp version?
I live in Germany. I've just ended the configuration for a Yaris and ended up with a 34000 € price 😳..... It's just bonkers!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont forget the build-in the 10! airbags in the Honda Jazz, the Yaris has only 6
I m sure it's going to be reliable but I test drove the pre facelift one and it doesn't even have LED interior lights nor registration number plate lights!
Super car! I have the 22 plate. But just shy of £30 k for the top of the range model? Hmmm.....
Does the battery still drain double quick time and won’t start if you don’t drive it a lot ..
>>>> I had a Yaris hybrid - left it unused for 2 weeks and it wouldn’t start as the 12V battery was flat; happened again and then found out this is a known problem.
Beautiful car 💯
price hike is crazy, bought my GR Sport with tech pack and 2 tone paint for 23k in 2023 and its now just shy of 30k!
Yes, the prices have blown up!
great video, thanks very much
Hey what do prices start from?
10.48 I breakdown the pricing ☺️
This or Honda jazz which drives better?
Since brexit I've seen a spike in new cars in UK. Is it related?
They need to make a 2 door that would be my dream car
Don’t understand why you and others would be shocked in pricing when you consider they have buy materials etc etc then r&d for future cars etc then paying taxes staff etc. the question is value is it worth it .
How many mpg
Hello there,
It's a nice car.
Maybe I want to buy this car, but then the GR-sport.
Do you now something about the fuel consumption?
I drive the car from Amsterdam to Paris at the speed of 100km/hour. (consumption?).
Greetings from The Netherlands.
That lease cost is more than Tesla is currently offering on a Model Y
These are great cars for first time drivers. these things keep going just change oil and filters. hyrid version give huge mpg..its better than a vw polo
Nicely explain everything
That's silly price for the same cost you'd get the corolla
This is an excellent and practical review by someone who knows about cars.
The presenter needs to work on her grammar but will because she is clearly a hard worker and has intelligence and perceptions others lack.
Rear seat space and height off the ground needed to be demonstrated and can perhaps be edited in.
I have subscribed.
I just bought one similar one
You're really making me want to buy one, i dont know if this is just a sales tactic or you're really enjoying that car 😂 I guess i'll find out when i buy it next month.
Did you buy the car, if so what do you think about it? Thanks
The driver has MORE pulling power!💘😉
Have the Yaris 2024, and it doesn't "see" my Xiami 13, not through Bluetooth, not while physically connected.
I like your reviews, Big salute from Morocco
so this £29k Yaris has no reversing camera in 2024?
Some reviews of four door cars show you what the rear seats are like space-wise. Sorry Tish.
The space in the back hasn’t changed. There is hundreds of Yaris reviews online if you’d like to see what the space in the back is like ☺️
Personally i think the prices are crazy. I think with that kind of money people would rather buy a slighty larger car (maybe even a second hand Corolla).Still Toyota is a great reliable brand.
I think you're right! There isn't too much difference between this and the Lexus LBX and I would rather that.
I sent your review to my sister and she’s ordered one. You should charge commission
30% more torque! You really probably not going to notice a huge difference?
What is it with UK car reviewers not leaning into comedy would just sound like they work for whichever car company's marketing department
Totally miss everything so refined about the Toyota full Hybrid tech., other than the 20 years bulletproof e-CVT noise. Lol. But the useless screen is bright.
£28k is unacceptable
There are some pretty good deals going on the outgoing model. Just picked up a new Yaris GR Sport with £3750 off list price and 3 years free servicing and 1 MOT included. Great second car for commutes into a city.
Thanks for sharing! That’s really good!
โตโยต้าในประเทศคุณมันดีมากจริงๆ😢
Toyota gr sport should had 150hp and 0-60 in 8.3. Hoping in 2025.
Great review as usual of a very good car. Agree with you on pricing completely. It is very expensive for a small car albeit a good one. Keep up the good work and I hope you'll be able to review a Volvo XC40 B3 or B4, not the electric ones in the not too distant future. 🫡
Expensive.
The Honda Jazz is a better car : more spacius interior, better build as the Yaris and more quait when drive.the backdoors open 90 grade in the Jazz.
Was gonna get a jazz but ended up getting a yaris. Do not regret it all and it does job of getting to A to B no problem at all.
Looks like a blue tortoise. The car that is! 😀
Hello morning
All cars should Head Up Display a standard. !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who’s saying Toyota Yaris owners don’t floor it😅😂
Your maths is wonkey 114hp to 129hp is +15hp or +13% stop saying 5%
Just buy a 2 year old Corsa or Fiesta instead plus a holiday in Magaluf and your nails done, sorted!
Wouldn't touch either of those with me cat!
We have 2 Toyota cars. These might be our last Toyota cars. As Toyota cars are now just far too exspensive.
Talking crap bro, they're the most reasonably priced and last FOREVER
@@JestersDeadUK '23 Yaris Hybrid Excel was close to £28k
Who the hell buys new Toyotas lol. You can buy one with 50k miles and I won't even doubt it's reliability as long as it's not rusted through and got regular services
Over 11 million now👍🏻
Every other brand is very expensive these days
10 million units sold worldwide, would easily double if Toyota brings it back to the U.S. 😢
