Hey Cleveland, second time watching. I'm following up to see your performance review on the Phenyx Pro PTU-5000. Great review. I'm going to check out your review of the Pro PTU-7000 before deciding.
Wow, i rarely saw a pro like you talk about that topic. Very interesting 👍
Another great brand for budget Mics is Tonor. I recently bought a set of 2 Mics and one Receiver for 80€ and it works perfect for me (80feet range, a properly placed standbyknop, no issues whatsoever)
Thank you for the review. The probably fixed the problems you talked about. I will purchase to see if the mic problem is fixed
Once again, Thanks for the good information!
Thanks this info was delivered at the right time for me
I have tried discount misc, and have tried upper end mics for my wedding/ karaoke business. If it's just karaoke, GTD 787 works like crazy. And you can buy and switch handheld to lapels and vice versa. Love that.
I bought this system back in July and have had no issues with it. I use it for my wedding ceremonies and everyone loves the sound. Good review keep it up.
Is this microphone good for karaoke?
@@TonyHoang99 yes for sure
@@TonyHoang99 yes
I have 2 sets of PTU-71 from Phenix. Second set i got with a lapel mic for ceremonies and i have to say, i love my mics. I use them even for Karaoke, church masses, and they have never failed me. I don't envy people spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on Shure and Sennheiser products when these bad boys do the same thing at a fraction of the price. As for the power button issue, the PTU-71 have the button placement on the outside. So i recommend those.
So for this system, your gripe about the display always being on, the display on the mics is not a real display. It’s a sticker with a backlight, so of course the “display” is gonna keep showing. Also, to turn these off completely you just hold the power button instead of just pushing it once.
I have had my share of these type of wireless mics where sooner or later the disappointment will arrive when you need it the most.
I invested in a Shure ULXd SM58 and extremely confident every single time I hand it over to a guest speaker.
Allen Gallegos that’s a great mic.
Great video, I take my batteries out after every event.
Thanks Cleveland Terry!
Hi. Thank you for the review. Would you recommend this for large groups (conferences/retreats/large events or 250+ people). We want to use these for vocals for a band/choir.
Thank you for your input.
Hey Cleveland, cycling back to this video. Looking at getting a new mic and was debating whether to stick with Phenyx or go with something like the Shure SLXD. I’m a young solo op so wanting to get the best bang for the buck. Would you possibly be able to do a review of the PTU-71 or PTU-2U/1U?
I have both models the PTU-7000A and the PTU-5000A. They are great! I use them for all my events... and get more user participation since there are many mics! The problem with the switch was fixed on the PTU-7000A...it is located right below the display, not at the bottom like you showed.
Has 7000 another difference from 5000? Sound quality maybe? in this video Terry said that mic can't be off in real case, only screen. What about 7000?
I bought this unit after watching this review. I’ve been a Shure 🎤 man for years! This unit is not bad. I see other ppl commented on the battery issue, and that had me worried. When setting up, I forgot to attach the antenna. When I connected them, I got a tiny amount of feedback. Strange. Taking this unit out into the wild on Friday.
You should try Tonor TW820. It only have 2 wireless microphone but the quality and sound are very good. Have you try to press the button for a few seconds to see if he disconect? It's strange they don't disconnect and only mute.
I've got a gtd dual channel microphone system and it's amazing
what is gtd?
@@gibby7233Amazon brand
The screens on the mic are stickers. So it will never be off. That’s why you can still see it when you turn it off. You will also see you have a full signal even with the receiver off, and a full battery even if it’s dead.
Cleveland have you used the AKG WMS 45? I have had this mic for about 4 years. It works great with no issues. Another DJ in my area (Albuquerque, NM) keeps telling me that I should step up to Shure. I really don't want to spend the money if there is not much difference.
Not only the heavy metal makes it feel like it’s a high quality professional mic 🎤, but it’s for better security for when if you accidentally dropped the microphone.. less possibility of it breaking
Interesting!!!
When you shut the mic off or get out of range to you get white noise? or does the receiver auto mute? That's the only thing about some lower end systems. Even after you find a clean channel some lower end Sennheisers and other brands will go to white noise when out of range.
What would you say are the best karaoke wireless microphones are? They come in dual. Which wouldn't cause feedback from being near the amps in a small room?
Hi Terry, fantastic review. Clear, honest and fair. I'm thinking of buying as a back-up for my BLX (Sorry bruv...but I love my BLX...however you can still slap my mama if that makes you feel better!! :-) . By the way, some companies would take issue with 'everything made in China is the same'. As I understand it the 'quality' companies (e.g. ADJ) use Chinese companies and oblige them to comply certain quality controls for all components. Whereas others just take any old components/products off the shelf and re-badge.
Mark Seymour 😀
thank you for this gem, now only if you can recommend a speaker system worth a similar bargain.
Alto is a great low cost speaker
Great review but one correction. I have this product and I thought the same thing about on/off button. It does in fact turn the mic off. What looks like the screen is still on but not illuminated is actually just a pre printed stencil. If you remove the batteries you will see that the indicator still looks like it is on. Hours or days later it still looks like it’s on even with the batteries removed. What you’re seeing is a dummy stencil since nothing ever changes on a fixed frequency microphone. The batteries probably were dead because they are a cheap brand. This is a long comment but just wanted everyone to know that the on/off switch really does turn off the mic.
Subscribe to my channel and you can see some videos of my group.
Phil Hoffman omg you are right. I just checked it. Why would they do that? Lol.
Cleveland Terry Bowens it’s a cost saving measure to make it look like there’s a real display. Because it’s fixed frequency, it doesn’t need a real one. And instead of putting some cheesy colored band around it, this allows you to see which frequency that mix uses.
When you did karaoke on the phenyx did you run 1/4 inch into 1 channel?
Another reviewer said the display is a sticker, not really a display. It looks like it will show you a frequency, but it never changes... thoughts?
Love the reviews bro. I'm looking to replace my mic but Shure charges crazy $$$ do u have any experience with the Gemini uhf-6200? That's what I'm leaning towards based on reviews.
i Wouldn't buy gemini anything but you can chance it lol
DirtyCuttinScoundrel
I have the Gemini system you are speaking of. Ran it for 4 years now. I have had an oak tree between me and the ceremony (not my choice BTW) and at 150 ft away. I had a US Navy vocalist sing the star spangled banner to 300 navy personnel. I have had them dropped, carried around by drunken guests long after the speeches. And they still work after four years. The only thing I don’t like it the possibility of a guest changing the channels by accident. Two buttons, one to turn on -off-or hold, and the 2nd to change channels. Has not happened yet, but I still warn speakers to avoid touching that button.
I would avoid 4 mics for $200. I think there is a sharp drop off in quality below this Gemini set of two mics and receiver.
@@CDAFishboy thank you for the feedback!
I do pow wow a I need 8-12 mics wireless. They will spread around a gym . Would it be better to get multiple wireless systems or buy one big wireless system
Hey where would you place your receiver for your cordless mic system
i have one you can look at. i will send it later. sounds like that one you review but you can turn it off and the button is at the bottom
At last, someone who is not blinded by brand names! I use a budget wireless uhf mic system for parties and for retail promotion work. The unit cost me $59.95 and has never let me down!
Would you recommend for a small ministry
Do you think you can use the shure capsules or sE Electronics V7 MC1 Capsule a with this Wireless Mics?
No sadly don’t fit
Hi, The phenyx pro diversity PTU-1U works well like pgdx24/sm58 ?
Did you try to long press the mics buttons to off?
Did you tried to press and hold that button to power off? Just a thought. Good review.
DJ Casanova it was the first thing I tried. I just didn’t keep that part in the video.
Added these mics into my shopping cart on amazon. Then comes to the part where you say the batteries must be removed to turn them off, I removed them from my cart.
Recently purchased this mic system. Looking to purchase a flight case. Cleveland Terry what flight case or mic bag do you recommend?
Bought mine directly from Phenyx. Great case
Just an ideea.. did you tried a long press or a combination of buttons to turn the mic off? Read the manual? :) otherwise is seems just stupid to not have the option to turn it off..
Love your videos!
That was the first thing I did. 😀 no go.
You ever used a shure u2 j4 Mic?
how could you compair with SM87 Capsule?
Can you compare this to the slx sm58
Cleveland, you should take out the batteries anyhow. I am sure you have experienced batteries "exploding" and ruining small electronics. IT's just as much a risk here. I never travel with batteries in gear. I also unplug everything too. Seems like an extra step but I've had IEC and USB cables distort or loosen the ports on devices as well.
Also, happy 2020 and thanks for all the great content. Just curious are you still in love with the Phase stuff??
It's not the quality or the name that makes them expensive, it's the VHF range, yes you can get good sounding quality mics for a cheaper price. That's great if you wanna use them in one permanent location, but if you are traveling around (like a mobile DJ or a touring events company) it's worth paying the extra price for the VHF range. A cheaper mic will is more likely to be affected by interference, if it's next to a Arial tower, a higher priced mic will have a wider VHF range to change frequencies.
Bit of error there dude.... you hold the power button down to turn it off not just pressing it. You hold it to turn it on. You press the button once to turn the LCD light off. You hold the button again to turn the entire microphone off. Might want to explain that in a pinned comment otherwise people will get the wrong idea.
I must have got a faulty ptu, i did not have a good experience
I'm on a budget and I want to do small gigs what kind of speakers do you recommend when I say on a budget don't have alot of money
Mackie thump for budget. Be be careful with them, as they are not as well protected as other speakers, and they sound decent but not the best. You get what you pay for, but Mackie is general go to for budget.
Also, if you buy subs, try not to cheap out there. Best to go with quality the first time with subs.
@@jdhuckmonkey1 I actually got alto speakers they work great
...the cost is a Lot more! ijs! Times have changed,...the quality lead and difference isn't the same today as it was 30,...40,..50 years ago! Case in point,..no car manufacturer of today makes a bad automobile in terms of raw quality!
Great review and video. I noticed you're wearing the Rode Wireless Go. I recently received on for Christmas and can't wait to do a review video on it. What do you think about using it for wedding ceremonies for the officiant?
It's a good mic system but I would be concerned with the very direct line of sight that the system requires. If you turn around the sound will go out.
@@ClevelandTerry I see. Makes sense. I just got my TRS to TRRS cable in today so now I'll be able to connect it to my phone finally produce my review. :) I'll make sure to shout you out for your tip bro.
@@ShaunSubtle Good luck to you.
@@ClevelandTerry Thanks. 😀
How long have you been using the Wireless Go?
Why are yo testing 4 mics, most people use only 1 or 2 so is there a difrence between PYU71 AND PTU 5000
Most people is an arbitrary statement. In fact I’m doing an event today where they need 3 mics. Happens all the time.
7:10 hold down the button
Could the reciever fit under the ddj1000 in its case?
Depends on the case but yes. It's a 1u rack height.
@@ClevelandTerry Just pulled the trigger on the GTD 2x800 mic/receiver. Maybe they can send you one for review? haha
Is it an xlr input
Xlr output. 4 channels can be output simultaneously, or quarter inch master buss out.
ADJ and Chauvet are NOT the same product slapped with a different name on it. Yes, both companies have their products made in China (like thousands of other companies) but they are built to completely different standards.
Allan Reiss while the upper levels of Chauvet products (Chauvet pro etc) may operate with higher standards, a lot of the Chauvet DJ, which I consider the lower tier are clearly 1 to 1 copies with other companies. I did not say who copied who, just there are many fixtures that are the same. So either adj is copying Chauvet or Chauvet is copying them or they’re buying from the same Chinese manufacturers and they are not telling you they sold the same product you had an exclusive on to A competing company.
How do you know they are not? I am not saying they are or are not, but your statement is no different unless you have information showing otherwise. It is not uncommon for Company A to sell a product that is similar or exactly the same as Company B but markets itself better than B so you think it is better... and most likely more expensive. And of course, there are companies like Sure who make a great product (from Mexico and China) but they are a certified manufacturer and work hard to maintain their reputation.
IAMBOBBY I have factual information. I’ve know people that used to work for Chauvet that validates my statements.
@@iambobby3537 You asked how I know that Chauvet and ADJ are not the same product with a different silkscreen slapped on it? I know this because I've been working for Chauvet as their Sr. Product Manager for 15 years. I promise you our products are NOT made in the same factory and are not the same product with a different logo slapped on it. Chauvet products are designed and developed by our Product Development team in south Florida. It starts with our CAD engineer and then a CNC machine builds the first prototype. It's a very cool process and I'd be happy to talk more with you at any of our tradeshows.
Big room, 300 people, urban area. You are going to cry your eyes out. You get what you pay for.
This video is a over year old. Still no tears. 🤷🏾♂️
Cleveland Terry Yes but no gigs in the past year with the conditions I described. Cheap gear is cheap gear. You get what you pay for.

GTD Audio G-733
innopow MW-333
Phenyx Pro PTU-5000A
All comparable to that of Shure, Audio Technica, & Sennheiser
Stay away from VocoPro and the lower end of these models.
All things made in China are not equal, companies have very different standards. Not saying these can’t be good, but they are VERY low price.
Tattooed drummer you are correct and I never said they all are the same and I didn’t say they were better than my slx and higher microphones. It’s just a good mic, especially for the price. There are much better mics out there.
Yeah believe me, I wish I could use something like this, but it just seems like the wireless game is getting pickier and more expensive to not have issues these day. At least in the Orlando market. With Disney etc, there can be a lot of reception issues.
So your gonna go thru a SHIT TON of batteries
You are trying to sell it too hard
I have passion, I’m not selling anything. Buy if you want, don’t buy it if you don’t want.
