1. Cut the diameter with tin snips or the sheetmetal corded shears 2. Cut the center hole with a holesaw of your choice 3. Cut from the outer edge to the center hole with tin snips or the sheetmetal corded shears. 4. Form the cone and clamp it. 5. Lay the top of your cone on the bench with a piece of scrap plywood between the 2. 6. Drill through the sheetmetal where it overlaps. 7. Install a rivet from the top Side down. 8. Maske several more holes along the seam by repeating steps 5, 6, and 7
This is good instructional video on the predator guard. I practiced on a sheet of poster board on smaller scale for the cone lay out and did as instructed for the center hole and mounting flanges.
Nice instructional video . I moved to a house on a lake that had one on a big cypress tree we have tons of woodies . Last year I watched woodies use the box but for my demise a racoon got all the eggs out had them on the ground . So this year I wrapped some tin around the tree there`s no other tree touching it so I will see if it works .
What do I do about the sharp edges my tin snips left around the edge?
Will they hurt the babies when they fall out and hit them?

why not just buy the aluminum flashing and staple it on the post from the ground to the box.
