OMG! TY! in following this I found that the EQ negated the first filter (not completely but a lot) doing EQ first then compression and gate works like a charm! wish I could sub again! have been recommending channel to all that need help! PLEASE keep going. :)

That is awesome! Although, you are right. You either go Gate/Suppression, EQ, Compression or you go EQ, Gate/Supression, Compression.

    Hey. New viewer here!
Let me just start off by saying your videos are amazing, and helping out a ton!
I've been watching for a little while now, and I can already feel my quality of my streams is getting better
Now, I'll need some help here. Over at 7:01 you're setting the ratio to "4:00:1". But my version of OBS can't seem to hit that. I can go from "0:00:1" to 1:00:1", so my question now is, is "0:40:1" the alternative, or do I need to do something else?

Thank you for the kind words! Are you sure you are using the compressor? It sounds like you might be on the expander - else something is buggy.
Your compressor should not be under 1 because the ratio tells you how many decibels it turns into 1 decibel, so if it is under one it makes it louder which is exactly the opposite of what we want

      @@ContentDelta No problem at all!
I've watched crap ton of your content lately, trying to improve my stream, and I feel like it's paying off!
I went back into my OBS and found out that I used the wrong compressor. I applied the one called "Upward Compressor" without really realising it. Bottom line is that it is now fixed :)

So many people have their microphones 3 feet away from them. Great video!

It makes everything so much harder and it sounds so "Dull" - Honestly one of my first suggestions to people!

yeah, see, here is the thing. when you were talking about looking at the mic, sure it went into the green and yellow BUT there is a little black bar/line WITHIN the green and yellow that no one ever talks about. Yourself included

You are correct, but VU-metering is a leftover from an older age and something which is far less useful for new content creators.
Because I address this for a general (and not a specialist) audience I explain PPM.

I identify as the person who had a mic, on a stand, out in Narnia when I first started streaming. 🤣
