This is the first dripper, in years, that’s caught my attention. That center piece is super clever! What a neat and simple way to reduce agitation on a whim.
Interesting. I saw this dripper a few times and always thought the magnet piece was just a filter setter. The reduced agitation concept is a cool idea, I may pick one up if it becomes more widely available. Thanks Daryl!
Nice review! I am courious about using it like a tricolate. Would a small disk paper filter at the bottom with the help of that magnet work? Maybe with something like drip assist. I love tricolate but I want to get rid of plastics.
@@emil9131 avoiding agitation is not a general rule. Some coffees would need a lot of agitation for you to extract, and some coffees would be a lot easier to extract. This concept relies heavily on your personal preference. There are different types of specialty coffee drinkers, some are bitter lovers, astringent lovers, brightness lovers and sweetness lovers. Okay now when brewing, extraction happens in the first half of your brewing process - if your pouring structure is 4 pours then it happens in the first 2 pours. The second half extraction usually gives you the texture, the body of your cup. In some cases it would over extract your coffee - this is the reason why you should try and minimize but not completely get rid of agitation in the second half of your brewing process. Its a balancing act between extracting a bit more and extracting too much. Try and experiment with your second half pours, minimize and taste the difference, add more and taste the difference. Believe me this will completely change your end cup :)
@@darylbuenocoffee thanks always Daryl!! Definitely very helpful and gives me more ways to experiment with my brews. Going on the internet and youtube can give me information overload and different ways of thinking depending on the author so I sometimes turn to you to help me understand these things better. @@emil9131 wow! Thank you so much for the vote of confidence! That's wow! Hahaha! Anyway i will do my best to make simpler explanations in the future videos! Thanks again for watching!
My first impression is that it feels over-engineered. I just dont know if it justify that price tag. Also the combination of ceramics and multiple parts is bad for a klutz like me lol.
@@Slopigami hahaha dont be too hard on yourself :) actullay after trying it the first time i actually understood the value on this dripper. I still wouldnt buy it at retail price but at least i get where they're coming from :) hahaha!! The middle tool actually is not over engineering whatsoever, it does actually work for what its intended to do and at the same time if you want to try brewing without it - its possible too!
I’m happy that you are enjoying the FLOW. And I hope you enjoy the fun in coffee brewing 😌

hello po how many clicks on the comandante?
Hi Daryl! In relation to V60, do we also avoid agitation when pouring? If yes, why? Thanks!
