- Back to flocking some goodies! Been wanting to do the dash in the 2005 Subaru WRX STI! The Main reason people flock their dash is to reduce glare off of the dash, mainly doe in rally cars BUT Looks so good to do on street cars. The dash is actually REALLY easy to remove from this model. When I did it in the 2017 STI it was am absolute nightmare to pull our of the car, so relatively glad that this was a bit easier. But wanted to show you guys how to do this as well!
Disclaimer I do not know of anyway to remove this so it would be considered a permanent modification.

You could capture it with a flockin' big plastic hopper, like for seeding. Matt is a genius 😂. Looks so much better on there thick!

For your 2017 can you re-flock the flocked dash? If so I would consider it. Think about it for a moment you are replacing the engine on the 05, improving it. The dash is already out. You are going to great pains in the engine bay, seems like the interior deserves the same level of love.

great funnel idea,a piece of linoleum floor would make a good funnel to catch the excess flok,man that looks good brother,finally cought some time to comment again, garden fence where the main priority, you know the life stuff.😉 👍✌️👉

Make sure when you flocking use a ventilator, this stuff can really cost your lungs bad if you’re not careful !!

Electrical tape around pop on clips works great!

Yes it would, just a layer of adhesive and sueade on it 😁

I know you posted this video a while ago, but how much flock was in each bag you used? I’m gonna flock my dash and want to make sure I’ve got enough. Sweet vid man, keep up the work!
There was 1 lb in each bag, 1.5lbs is more than enough for most average size dash boards 🙌

@@Smeedia a temp flock catcher. PVC frame with sagging plastic (like a rain catcher) to funnel to a catch can.

Isnt that glue when it drys gonna glue your pass side airbag in so it cant deploy or its gonna deploy wrong?
It'll still deploy, the airbag breaks through that area, the glue won't stop it from doing so
Curious, what happened to the air intake funnel you modified to fit? Havent seen it in since you put the car back together?
Never put it back in because thr power steering lines are in the way 😅
@@Smeedia oh man... that is annoying.
You could probably soak that paint brush in some paint thinner to clean it so it is useable again and not so... rock hard.
Taking that dash out is far easier than removing the integra dash... so many screws... and you need to remove vents to be able to access screws that bolt it down.
Curious how much flock got into those vents >_> it might have been a good idea to have covered the vents. Hopefully you wont have too much flock in the vents and dont get poofed on :)
I blew the vents out with the air compressor. Supisingly not too much was in there 😅

Is it safe to use on interior parts especially those usually exposed to direct sunlight? I am talking about fumes and their toxicity.

It'll off gas for a few days, which is why I'd suggest letting it cure but shouldent have any issues. It may fade a little over the years but not by much

Doesn’t gluing the air bag cover mess up the function of the passenger air bag? Or am I overthinking it?
No, when the air bag deploys it tears through that area in the dash so the glue shouldent have any effect other than possibly making the passanger look like a chicken 😅

How do you remove the stupid center dash sensor wire that attached to the dash. I got everything out beside that one..
I ended up cutting it then adding new connections that were easily assembled because that shit was impossible to get out

Question for you sir, I just recently put tgv deletes and a turbo inlet and fuel rails/lines in my car. Everything went pretty smooth but there is a line (3/8in) that seems to be coming off one of the pcv hoses or the turbo inlet, right in front of the turbo almost under the throttle body. I can't for the life of me figure out where this was supposed to go and I labeled pretty much everything, except this one hose apparently. Would you happen to know the purpose of the hose I'm talking about? It seems to be facing the fire wall and it's right under the bpv hose going to the inlet.
It's the evap hose for the evap solenoid, normally I delete it but some people retain it 🙏
