We already do the microphone cut-off thing here in Indonesian presidential debates. It works fantastic. I don't know why you wouldn't do it all the time; any candidate's speaking time should be 100% respected no matter who they are.
One problem with it in this case:
Moderator: 'Mister Trump, your time is up and we've cut your mic.'
Trump: 'THAT'S OKAY, I CAN SCREAM A LOT LOUDER THAN THIS!'

I stopped watching’TV’ many years ago. RUclips is my main source of video entertainment. Watching this on RUclips right now. Will never have cable Tv ever again. It’s over for the tv networks unless they fully adapt to streaming. I also haven’t watched a commercial in just as many years.
