    How to change the table size in Word? That's easy! In this tutorial I'll show you how to change the row height and the column width by entering exact measures in cm (or in).
    Procedure:
    At the beginning we first need to select the cells, rows and/or columns that we want to change in size. Afterwards we go to the Tabletools and there we can then change the size.
    This tutorial for changing the column and row size of a table in Word should work for Word 2007, Word 2010, Word 2013, Word 2016, Word 2019 and also Office 365. This also works with Microsoft Office on a Mac and also with open source software such as OpenOffice or Libre Office.

    • @LeonRenner
      @LeonRenner  Год назад +1

      Hi Denise, the easiest way is probably by calculating the column width. If you have 4 columns, simply devide the 5in by 4 and you will get your column width, that you can then enter

    What if I want my overall table to be a certain size, for example 4.5 x 7.125. I can't find an answer for this anywhere. All I see are tutorials for changing row and column width and height. Thanks.

    • @LeonRenner
      @LeonRenner  3 года назад +3

      Hey Barbra, so the width is directly changeable. Simply right-click on the four-fold arrow which appears at the top left corner of the table (when you move the mouse over the table), and then open the table properties. In the "Table" tab you will find the option to set a preferred width for the whole table. Now for the height you would simply do the following: let's say you want your table to be 4.5in in height and have 10 rows. Then you would set the row height to 4.5in/10 = 0.45in and the total height would result automatically. Hope that helps 😊💗

      @@LeonRenner Genius!! Thanks. One more question, what if the text that goes in each row is different. For example, I need to type 2 lines in the first row, 5 lines in the second row, 3 lines in the third row etc. Doing the math as you stated seems to make the rows all equal. How would I solve this problem, if any. I hope my question makes sense.

    • @LeonRenner
      @LeonRenner  3 года назад +1

      @@barbra429 Hey Barba, sorry for the late answer. RUclips doesn't show comments which have been already answered. So, in your case I would first create a row for each line. In your example, I would create a table with 2+3+5 = 10 rows. Afterwards I would simply merge the first two rows, then the next 5 and then the next 3. :)

      what exactly do you mean with "layout option"?

    • @angles02dr
      @angles02dr 3 года назад +1

      If you’re on word online like me, you have to hit the arrow on the right that’s on the ribbon and make sure “classic ribbon” is selected and the “table layout” option along with “table design” will pop up. But I still don’t see where “cell size” is. I think you need to have the old Microsoft version to access it.

    Is it possible to change the whole table including the font size?

    • @LeonRenner
      @LeonRenner  3 года назад +1

      Hi Valdy, I'm not sure what you mean by that. You cannot use one single value for row height, column width and font size. Each characteristic needs a single value. But of course you can change the font size for the whole table at one if you want (highlight whole table and then select font size)

      Hi Daniel, I'm not sure if I understood you right. If you have a single table row that is 10 pages long, I'm not sure if the table makes sense at all. In any case, if you meant something different, you might try it with this video: ruclips.net/video/y1O-PgY-EVM/видео.html

    You should remove the word "EXACTLY" from the video title. I wanted to adjust the precision to which the row height is controlled so I could have a row height of 0.606 (NOT 0.61). This video hit on Google apparently because it equated "precision" with "exactly".

    • @LeonRenner
      @LeonRenner  Год назад

      When it comes to measurements, nothing is really "exact". But this function shows you how to size a table to the exact size you want, within the resolution Word allows. 😉
