Frankie Dettori did the same as last year , gets him stuck on the rail behind horses , then try’s to circle the field when the race begins.
And he wouldn’t have the pace to get out of trouble like that anyway. I was on the winner but the 2nd and 3rd ran big races
The Horse has to be held up that’s why it comes from behind that’s why it got blocked in that’s why it went wide have a look at the race properly there’s a good lad
What was Dettori thinking on the turn home? Kyprios and Mojo Star were running on and Dettori should've trailed them into the race and when they veered toward the fence he would have been left with a clear path to the post without needing to change direction. He gave up a lot of ground and momentum pulling out so wide on Stradivarius.

Wouldn't admit he made a mistake and basically blamed defeat on Strad not being the horse he was. He may not be, but he would still have won if given a better ride.
Correct, he would have won if he kept that true line and popped out once through the traffic. I was on Crispy Cat in the 1st and exactly the same happened, could get a run, cut inside and then got blocked by the donkey that won the race. Would have won going away. Had £100 E/w on it, pff
Agreed. I couldn't see anything wrong with keeping the rail all the way home. He probably watched too many replays of last year of how he got held up before the turn in. I mean I look at Burning Victory's run and Strad would've crushed them had he been anywhere near that rail with the ground so firm there was no way Kyprios would be able to handle him. It's getting pretty easy to blame Frankie these days and I can't see a way to excuse him in this 1 today
DETTORI INCOMPETENCE STRIKES AGAIN!
The Stradavarius of a few seasons back would probably have overhauled the first two. The Stradavarius of this and the last two seasons doesn't have the legs. Dettori rode a poor race.
His incompetence in big races is becoming worrying and painful to my wallet.

Yes that was a stinker, admittedly Moore has intentionally kept him in but to be the best you have to be tactically astute and not to let your opponents dictate what you do. He’s run a cracker but being in the wrong position has given him a mountain he couldn’t possibly climb.

When you think about it gosden has missed out on 2 gold cups and a arc de triophme because of dettori.
Strad would never have won last year's Gold Cup against that machine, regardless of who rode strad

The time off the track showed on mojo star there, he headed the winner but just tired the last furlong.

I have a lot of time for Dettori but some of his riding lately is hard to understand. This was another horrible tactical misjudgement. Stradivarius is a thorough stayer so why have the horse near the back in a slowly run race which ended with a two furlong dash. He was in totally the wrong place coming into the straight and if you court disaster you often get it.
Likewise, I have lot of time for Dettori, but I think he overthought his tactics and got it wrong. Some experts say that if he waited for the gap he still would not have won. I think if he waited for the gap he would have won with the turn of foot Stradivarius showed.
My money was on Moore and Kyprios, but I would not have been sorry to see Stradivarius equal Yeats with four Gold Cups.

I had Mojo star without the kyprios at 13/2. Frankie Dettori is done and needs to retire.
Give credit were credit is due the winner is a 4 year was headed at the 200 and started running away with it in the end top ride and a very good horse
Not really, Stradivarius gave away more ground than he lost by, in a stop start race for him, not just at the end of the race, but when he was made to drop back through the field when going well, think Frankie thought he was riding Enable in her prime, he dug an hole for Stradivarius that was near impossible for him to Stradivarius to get out of,

I like frankie...his smile,openess,willingness to engage with reporters etc....but what this week at ascot has proven,is that frankie is not what he was
Twenty years ago,frankie would have grabbed this race by the neck and wrapped it up.

Stradivarius should have been running 2nd or 3rd given his draw and the tempo of that race.
If he was he would have won that by 4-5 lengths
And that’s allowing for the fact he’s 3-4 lengths slower than he was 3 years ago
It's always easy to be wise after the event, but I honestly can't understand why Dettori didn't have Stradivarius a little near the front were a gap was a little more likely to have opened up instead of keeping the horse in mid division? I believe Gosden is asking similar question, I will be surprised if the Dettori and Gosden survives to the end of the season.

@@wilf7042 He was "unlucky" because he was didn't ride the horse closer to the pace, even Gosden Stradivarius trainer has voiced similar, he could have still got plenty of cover moving the horse closer to the pace instead of holding him back so he could try to counter the favourite Kyprios which he was obviously intending to do.

People say he is one of the greatest jockeys I don't see that. He's gd at promoting racing by clowning about and he's lucky Gosden chose him but twice this week Gosden has looked pretty angry at his rides.

Mojo Star fastest horse in the race however he got outstayed and ended up a slow finisher.
Kyprios really fast also and more steady, Stardivarius was competing but Kyprios always had him imo. Good winner, impressive times by most though, good Ascot Gold Cup.
Moore states his horse was much the best, it did seem he went on again, but looks more of a case Mojo Star slowed right down.
I had Zoe and she got mugged and lost all chance. The racing at Royal Ascot has been shocking this week, aside from that incredible Aussie winner of the King Stand.

I love the comments thats why you win so much. The last time an 8 yr old won was in 2009 Yeats, 1900 Merman and in 1842 a 9 yr old. Statistically Frankie Dettorri is correct and you are all wrong. Check the records and use it in the future that you may win some more money and have a methodical approach to the races

The extra ground covered by Strad cost him a certain race, comments by Frankie in the paddock after the race that he lost to horses with fresh legs are not justified. No one else but himself to blame. Sadly the best horse lost.
Exactly ruined the chance for it to have another notch added to it's amazing legacy. I'm just glad he didn't mess it up even worse than what he did had it in a winning placepot.

The Queens horse was beat by a horse that never beat a single horse in a 15 runner race 1 month ago over in France.

Dettori wins had he stayed on the rail , to worried about princess zoe and decided to hunt a space when it would if opened up and he wins by two lenths.
After he watched the race again he relised.
Dettori is world 🌎 class things ain't going his way lately the ride in the Epsom oaks finishing 2 to Ryan more again a better position near the.pace would have change the outcome
Strativarios should of never been back that far, he's a good staying horse, the ground he made up, if sitting in 3rd, he would of put 2-3 lengths on the field...frankie knows that and chose to stay on the rail....
In both this race and the previous year Dettori let Stradivarius drift back well off the pace approaching the post the first time whereas in the 3 Gold Cups he won he stayed right up on the heels of the leaders all the way.
Why?
In a slowly run race like that it is easy to get boxed in.
The error Frankie made was at the start.
He had a lovely position then decided to drop him back further.
That is the only mistake he made.
Some of the comments criticising him for getting beat on the Queens horse at 2/5 just show the lack of knowledge of most people on here.
Stradavarius deserved better today than Frankie whipping him so many times when he got straight and then blaming the horse for his bad ride. Retire him or change the jockey.
I really don't know why Frankie, doesn't make more use of Stradivarius, who stays better than any other horses. Frustrating to see a great horse given no chance

At those fractions with an inside draw he could have been sitting 2nd or 3rd and still had plenty in the tank at the end.

I backed Stradivarius and Mojo Star with a saver on Kyprios. Ah! tbh I think had Frankie been able to get out when he wanted - Stradivarius going better than both Kyprios and Mojo at the time. The fourth came from the back and found an easy way through up the inner. Had Frankie done the same would've won. That said, had he done so rival jockeys would be more likely be looking for fancied horses and closed the door. As it was first Ryan and then Rossa Ryan brilliant jockeyship in keeping Frankie in. That's racing.

@@robertdelacy3434 Yes, it was antepost. Last week - with this heatwave forecast - Kyprios and Stradivarius's supposed main rivals Trueshan and Scope were never going to take part on good-firm. So backed Stradivarius with a Kyprios saver. Wanted to also back Mojo Star but as this was his reappearance best to be sure he'd run., so waited. Unfortunately though, this morning with Kyprios extremely short and that stat of three disappointing English runs stat - I laid some of it back. Oops.

@@johnristheanswer Thanks, I think LOL. If believing any horse overpriced (in percentage terms) I back it however many I may have already backed in the race. Backing the horse / horses I believe are the best value as main bet/s and the lesser value as savers. Sometimes make my own 100% book but here seemed to me (without Trueshan and Scope) Kyprios had more than a third chance, Stradivarius roughly the same, with The Field (together) less than a third. Therefore 2/1 or bigger were igood prices for the two favs.... And as an individual I thought Mojo Srar had a much better than 5% chance, so took the 19/1.

Never had such a a massive crushing disappointment than today having Mojo Star at 18/1
That said what a throughly enjoyable race and with a good winner getting back up who outstayed his rival.
Only criticism form wise, you’d rather they’d beat Burning Victory more easier than they did, she’s a very good mare but you would rather see a bit more distance, Trueshan can still beat these if the ground comes in his favour imo.

Is Frankie riding for the bookies these days? His last big race rides have been diabolical. Give up Frankie.
If Frankie had stayed on the rail, as he was 7f out, Strad would have had a dream run through and most probably would have won.
Instead he moved off the rail, and had nowhere to go, whereas burning Victory who was last into the straight took the inside rail and ran clean through.
If only Frankie had held his nerve.
Credit to Moore he rode a blinder but best horse lost that day.

Well, Aiden O'Brien wins this one, but I don't think he will win the Coronation Stakes with Tenebrism! Every year Aiden runs a horse in the Guineas that is bred for or has only won at 6f. This year it was Tenebrism's fate to be thrown into the mile race. Tenebrism's sire is Caravaggio who won guess what The Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. So Tenebrism was my selection for the race this year as she had won at 6f and had Caravaggio for a sire. But here she is in the Coronation over a mile again?
I laid strad on betfar and placed a 2 million euro straight forecast on kyprios & mojo BOOM number one in the game 🎯

Give credit where it’s due. Dettori run a terrible race but most of it is down to the genius of Ryan Moore boxing him in for most of the race until it was too late.
If frankie have not met with traffic problem for surely his horse shall win the race unfortunately that's are fact in racing

What always amazes me is the fact that English tracks are probably the widest but the most horses seems to get blocked or denied a run in the UK. Even in a single digit number field at times. Really strange
