Comment below with your worst story about being nervous!
For me, when I overpractice I get even more nervous and then I mess up badly. When I get nervous, I try not to think about the technical issues but I think about giving my best performance :)
Kiara Eijo yesss!!! Same for me. I tend to over practice a ton and it just makes everything worse.
Your hair looks really nice in this video
My old flute teacher would make me do jumping jacks until I my heart rate increased then she had me play through a piece. She would say this simulated the feeling of nervousness thus practicing this way would make you "used to" playing nervous. =)
This is good to try very occasionally. You may accidentally train your heart rate to RAISE while you're playing! Woops!
Im 10 and i played the flute for a year now, you gave me a bunch of advice. Thank you 😃
I'm auditioning for Blake High School in Florida on February 2nd. Hopefully this video helps a lot because i get very nervous and my face gets really tense. Ugh. #firstworldbandproblems
thanks :D this really helped with dealing with my nerves for my grade 8 rcm piano exam!
When I'm playing in front of anybody who doesn't play the flute, sometimes I mess up (played a natural when I needed to do a flat etc.) I just pretend like I did it properly.
Nobody knows
Or maybe they do and they're just not saying anything about it
Oh no
I could have done this in December when I offered to perform at short notice. I hadn’t performed in front of audience for around two years, and luckily enough everyone was really supportive xx
This was so useful, funny, and relatable. Awesome!! ;)
Thanks for doing this video! Whenever I play in front of people I always mess up, whether it's an accompaniment or a solo!
all I can say is IM GKAD IM NOT THE ONLE WHO GETS THE "NERVOUS POOPS" sorry if it is tmi lol
I'm glad I don't get nervous for auditions. 😬 I wish it was the same for performances 😂
When I warm up before a performance, I only play the flute solo from the beginning of "O Waly, Waly" (a piece by Jay Bocook) after just a handful of long tones. It really calms me down ;)
so... i just bring a paper bag to my next concert?
😂😂😂😂
The problem for me is that it could be the easiest thing possible like hot cross buns or marry had a little lamb. As long as I'm playing in front of someone I'm gonna mess up.
But does it really matter if people don't notice that you mess up? 😉
JustAnotherFlutist haha that's true
Just look at the music and pretend you're just practicing!
I have placement auditions tomorrow and I'm so nervous!😁
How do you prepare for solos!?! I need to knowwwww 😭😭😭😭
My best tips for serious supressing of stage fever: 1) In the room where you practice, put up a dark coat in the corner, representing the "threat" of a jury. 2) Practise with the maximum of expression you can possibly achieve - when making the concert just tell yourself that the jury/audience don't reserve to hear anything more elaborate than what you produced during rehearsing. Play it safe and prosper!
Omg thank u so much this helps a lot:)
Not just good advice for musicians, but for everyone who experiences anxiety!
Thanks for the video I just went on stage and used your techniques and they worked.
Such interesting tips! ^^ I find the slow movements not that helpful but I'm just weird ;) something I do is breathing exercises (I'm a pianist, not a singer) and blow on my thumb (I don't know the science behind it, but it genuinely helps lower my heart rate). Love your vids, always good humour mixed with great content ^^
Hehe great vid. Can totally relate to the irrational thoughts. I'm so glad to have found another musician youtuber :)
I once ran into a window after an audition once because I thought it was a open door
The great master Quantz once mentioned that if you are nervous before a concert, then you should touch your fingers to your powdered wig and then play the concert anyway...
When I did a scale test I was nervous of the teacher and I had the right time signature and rhythm but I stop like 2-3 times in the scale. Now I don't know if I want to redo it or not
I love to watch your channel because I PLAN on being a flutist, but haven't got the money right now
I had to perform a marching piece called Army of the Nile and I am in the front of the block leading a marching line and as a Trombone I am the most obvious in the beginning measures and I chocked so hard I couldn't play as before we began I made eye contact with the judges, I eventually came back in around the second string but I felt so bad I kinda left my other members of my section alone in the beginning
Night before my auditions! Wish me luck!!
I just started the flute
Oh my god i wish i had watch this before district auditions earlier. T-T
This video is perfect, especially since I have a college audition on Wednesday. :))
OMG yesterday i did the stupidest thing ever. Didnt eat breakfast for allstates. I woke up at 6 ande didnt eat untill 3, 3 hours after my audition. Kinda passed out too
I wish I saw this on Monday when I had a audition
Can you make a video about playing high notes on the flute ( please and thank you with a cherry on top c: )
Can you do a video on dynamics?
I would like to know if I could use "if you've got it flaute it" I would like to use it for flute jackets or flute shirts for my section :)
did no one notice the blue tape on the piano @2:24
I just don't think abt it
