@@memesissydollar3080 thanks for the comment I appreciate it, a friend of mine is blind he lives in Davao city and says it's a really good city compared to others he said for safety and getting around with severe vision impairment. I'd say in general the healthcare is pretty good in the major cities they have lots of clinics/hospitals and plenty of doctors/specialists like anywhere it's all about finding a good doctor for what you need. When you go out into the province it's naturally harder to find... as far as major health things I don't know how good it is, although a friend of mine dealt with a heart attack and a stroke and he said the healthcare was good, that was in Dumaguete
@@ajw9377 OK yeah I actually mentioned that to the LTO officer and they only go by their own rules so you will have to go through the process of getting your motorcycle endorsement here in the Philippines . It's not necessarily hard it's just a bit of time at the LTO
Great video Chad. I have three USA banks I use. I use wise to transfer to GCash from US bank. If ATM empty which happens a lot I use Remitly or world remit to transfer cash from US bank for pick up. I have Charles Schwab and only use that for ATM. As far as Philippines license just pay someone to get it for you. Around 13000.00p. As far as a scooter I had three choices. nmax , Adv Honda and PCX Honda. I rented each one for a month than chose the PCX 160. Great scooter. Have been in the Philippines for about a year and half. Knock on wood have not had any issues with banking. I travel a lot and lived in two different city’s and so far no banking issue or Social Security issues. Hope this helps folks who are thinking of retiring in the wonderful Philippines.
@@JohnMorse-p5c John I have my SS go direct to Charles Schwab. When bank need authorization sending a code. I have AT&T I have a E Sim. I am on family plan. I also have Philippines Smart SIM card. I keep AT&T ESim turned off. When bank asked for verification I turn the line on to get code. It cost $10.00. For now that works for me.

Just make sure you do the travel notice. Their customer service is great and very helpful for travelers. The only thing I can assume is there card was canceled because they did not do a travel notice.

Great video, my wife and I are permanently living here in the Philippines. I can totally agree with you. You need to wait the 60 days and get your ACR card so you can get a bank account and then everything is easy. In the beginning, we shipped stuff here, but we really didn’t need to. there Is everything here in the Philippines all the close and food and any household items. Sometimes you just have to pay a little extra. My biggest recommendation is bring a good budget with you for each month. If You’re going to live here. Don’t be cheap. And have extra money put away in case of an emergency.a really good hospital cost here in the Philippines, if you want American style care.
Charles Schwaub closes your account if they know you not in the US eventually they will see that once they seem every purchase is internatinal. Its great when travelling overseas but they will close yourt account

Hey Chad, always great to see vlog coming thru. Hey how do u check the validity of second hand motor bike to ensure no debts or not stolen etc, tend to hear a lot of stories of things going south with buying second hand.
The first thing you can do is take a photo of the registration and bring it to the LTO they are able to look into a little bit of it.. I'm not sure how to work around this to do it before purchasing, however when you do purchase and if you want to register it in your name you have to do a whole bunch of stuff where they check the serial number and they look into all of that. I suppose you can take it there to have it checked before purchasing if the seller is willing .
I'm not sure if it's different in Manila but I've ridden on every highway in Cebu and other islands and a 125 is good to go some people have even smaller
If you going to be here a while, for license you can do a conversion with in the first 90days no test cost me about 1500 Paso's, just renewed mime last November do everything on line test then get your fiscal an fo to LTO and get your new license about 1500 Paso's total!

Haha yeah I amaze myself sometimes with how little stuff I have but I don't miss anything material at all it's so nice to be light and flexible! It's pretty easy to meet other foreigners in the popular areas, the major cities etc. seems like most other guys will make some friends pretty quickly but you definitely have to make the effort and just talk to everyone

What about the British guy who rented a condo in BGC and filled it with his own quality furniture, artwork, TV and hifi. Then half way through his lease when he visited UK his landlord changed the locks. The landlord kept his clothes, furniture, toiletries, artwork...... everything! Leaving the British guy with just the clothes he was wearing. He's currently living in a hotel.

Yeah many taxi and grab options in the big cities but if you want to explore province my preference is having a scooter or car if you buy a used scooter with registration that doesn't expire for a while you can drive on that person's registration, in my case it had 1.5 years left. You can still work on getting your own registration transferred over during that time
IS there a Test, (written or/and practical) when it comes to getting your drivers license IF you already have a car/motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license?
If you already have it on your drivers license it's quite easy you go to the LTO and apply for a Phillipines drivers license. If you don't have the endorsement you have to go through some different steps it took a while just because everything goes a bit slow here
I recommend doing a transfer through Remitly or one of the other options or whatever amount you need if you're renting a place and need to furnish it , down payment, buying a scooter/vehicle etc.
This is the first time I'm hearing about not being able to open and/or validate GCash if on a tourist visa, can you look a bit more into that? I know the validation process can get tricky with the uploads and face picture but some said they were able to validate even without an ACR card, maybe you can look into it a bit more? That would really suck. Edit: From GCash help page: "Foreign Nationals above 18 years old need to submit their Alien Certificate of Registration to get Fully Verified in GCash"
Yes I got to the point where I was actually communicating with them and they specifically said your ACR card has to be a permanent resident acr card, not a tourist ACR card which is what most people have
That sucks. It's interesting because just a couple of days ago I've asked about this on one of the fb groups and 2 people said they didn't even upload the ACR, just passport and fhey got validated. Didn't ask when they did it. Also maybe you could try Maya, it's similar and they also offer a debit card.

In all respects Thailand is better. There are 2 major things that make the Philippines many people's choice. Up to 3 year tourist visa and English speakers and signs in the Philippines. When you arrive in Thailand and the Philippines on a tourist visa you get 30 days. In both countries you have to renew if you wish to stay longer. In Thailand you can only stay another 30 days then you must leave. Philippines you can keep renewing your tourist visa for up to 3 years before having to leave.

Why not get a trunk on the back of the bike? I had a Honda Elite 110 and put a large trunk on the back.

A cargo box is not expensive and easy to have installed. A lifesaver for scooter life.😊

I read that you have to have a 400cc or larger motor for scooter/motorcycles to go on the expressway.

Just a tip from a motorcycle rider, ditch the LS2 and look for a Simpson.

When you arrive in Thailand and the Philippines on a tourist visa you get 30 days. In both countries you have to renew if you wish to stay longer. In Thailand you can only stay another 30 days then you must leave. Philippines you can keep renewing your tourist visa for up to 3 years before having to leave.

To be honest I don't think I've seen one standard poodle here but I've seen lots of smaller poodles and other toy dogs haha
