Will, time and time again you provide the the best tailored specific ways on how to improve and do something correctly. Impressive!! Keep up the great work.
Other tips are: 1 Take the left hand as a righty back as far as you can for ultimate shoulder rotation. 2 Use lag ( butcap towards the ball ) first the hip and the racket will follow. 3 Step into the ball. Weight shift from back to front leg. 4 From 1 to 10 with holding the grip loose or tight, hold your racket like a 3. It's also necessary to create lag. I love the way you explane and keeping it simple and understandable! Great video!
Excellent video. I totally agree with everything you said. The sinking down is the key. When I want to really unload on the ball, I will rise up a little as I go through the half loop, sink down, relax and let it rip.
Excellent advice ! I actually use this “ drop and drive “ idea on my serve too . -> I toss the ball,, then drop and bend as I slide my right foot to my left foot and drive/whip the racquet upward towards the ball .
Nice simple tips, although I think there is more to tip 3. For the big muscles to transfer power through the body all the way to the racket the joints inbetween have to be relaxed (tension blocks the transfer) - i.e. the kinetic chain. So the sinking down is about relaxation as much as it is bending your legs so they can push off.
great video. I try not to think about the sequence shoulder/elbow/wrist. When I hit well, I load/sink and unwind. I do have the problem of hitting too vertical and your demonstration of flattening out the swing path was illuminating.
i am guilty of doing the quick bounce didnt let the weight settle 😠! i just rushed thru and stepped into the ball. had some great forehand days followed by bad ones because i had no clue where power comes from so just used my arm and elbow i guess thats why my arm hurt lol.
Really liking your videos! I have question about the forehand grip, specially semi western vs eastern grip. I’m constantly switching between the two, but I need to stick with one for consistency. Which would you say Is the better grip?
Coach Will, I have a very popular question among club players here. How do we achieve a relax arm, fast‐loose wrist and solid grip at the same time for the lag and racket head speed ? Your help is greatly appreciated.
It's a tricky simple answer. "Timing" it's a subtle quick squeeze mid motion. Most think it firm grip the whole time but it's a loose grip like 2/10 through most of the motion then like 7/10 just before and through contact
This is the hardest puzzle in my life !! 😅😅😅 I felt this subtle squeeze at contact during the return of a serve once or twice in my life...LOL Thanks coach !
Great vid. I notice that on your fh follow through your racket face is pointing to the floor. So at contact are you turning your racket face downwards? A fh vid would be great. I struggle with the fh...in particular i have a habit of leaning back and hitting balls high and long.
Coach Will, someone mentioned about focusing on the non hitting arm pulling the shoulder and body to rotate that makes the hitting arm become spaghetti to hit a more effective forehand....is it true? I tried but missing all the timing and control...should I keep focusing on this technique ??or it is just a gimmick ? ?sink and push is the key I should be focusing? Tia
Nice video as always. I have question on the arm kinetic chain point. I find myself release my wrist too earlier and loose control and power. But when I conciously tight and control my wrist my shots lose power to some extent too. How do I find a good balance in between? Thanks!
I tend to teach it as using the core as the guide to line you up. The core rotation usually moves consistently but what you'll do is contract The shoulder elbow and wrist all at the same time. Getting that instant acceleration through the strike zone will feel easier that way

Very nice videos and tips, thank you. The hinge explanation at the start was particularly good.
Glad it was helpful! The Hinge idea isn't explained very often in coaching but its such a simple idea that helps a lot of my students.
Illuminating forehand techniques Will, thank you
Very welcome, hope it helps

Love this guy's explanations!!!
Hope I was able to help a little 😁

Everyone's challenge and solution is different. I'm glad one of the clicked for you 😁👍
Really Enjoying your stuff
Thanks
Glad to hear it! 🙏 🙏🙏
So helpful thanks. I'm using your tips in VR tennis with racket adapter (First person tennis).
That's awesome! I'm interested in how that's working out?
Thank you so much coach. I am gonna try it out. Great job. Have a wonderful day.🌞🌎🌙🙏

I recommend semi. I feel like it very versatile. it allows easy access to spin as well as power whenever you decide to switch up

my right leg is excited to try this 😈👈
Great 😁👍

There is minor truth to it but it is definitely not something to focus on
Thx a lot !

@@ironwilltennis Thanks for the clarification!
It’s a bit tricky to hit a clean contact while the body is rising up. Can you clarify or make a video about it? Thanks. Great stuff
You got it👍
Watch the ball ?
any one else notice his forehand is a cannon ball. boom !
It comes and goes lol 😆
