Yeah well i wouldn't expect that little box to put out continuous 3kw...lol Even 1800... like idk how many batteries it fits but that wouldn't last very long
4 40v 12ah batteries... that's....48 ah at 40v...or 1920w for... one hour? Is that right? Or would it be 48 h of one amp at 40v or... only 40w for 2 days.... my math is wrong isn't it. This looks expensive.
This should not be listed as a “power station”. I mean, I guess it is. However most power stations can also be promoted as a “solar generator”. Can this be recharged with solar?
lol build your own much better i did i can run Lithium or lead acid battery with my 18v lithium or 12v lithium or 12v lead acid battery wich power can do that lol people only building thing with one type of battery
I've seen a lot of other reviewers give this thing a solid "meh" rating. I guess if you have plenty of 40v batts laying around it might be nice to get that power out, but that kind of money for "meh" is hard to swallow, even if I have a bunch of batteries already.
When this was first introduced it was absurdly over-priced. Home Depot currently offers it for just over $1,000 and that includes 4 of their 6AH, 40V batteries. If you're someone who uses the Ryobi 40V tools quite a bit, and you understand the right way to charge and maintain NMC batteries, this could make quite a bit of sense. The 6AH batteries usually sell for at least $140/ea, so you're paying $560 for the batteries and getting the inverter/charger for around $500. Now, that's still not a good value, if all you want is a small portable power station. This only makes sense if you're using the 40v batteries and tools quite a bit already.
The Ryobi 40V batteries power mainly the Ryobi outdoor tools, e.g. blower, mower, pressure washer, etc. Your comment about knowing how to charge and maintain NMC (nickel metal cadmium) batteries makes no sense, as these are lithium ion batteries and totally different in approach to charging and maintaining. If you treat the lithium ion batteries like NMC you soon won’t have very powerful or lasting batteries….
@@martylucas8557 - The cells inside of the Ryobi battery packs ARE, in fact, NMC, which is just one type of lithium ion battery chemistry. NMC stands for nickel, manganese and cobalt, which is what every Ryobi battery has in it. Know what you're talking about before arguing with someone who does.

Thats just a good way to ruin your batteries. If you're going to do something that is a high draw like a welder you'd be better off with a gas generator, yes these batteries would be able to do it but it's not good for them. Just power tools like a grinder or saw already wear on the batteries and sometimes it's better to use a corded version instead of just draining your batteries. Li ion are made to do it, but it's still bad for them. If anything it would be good to use some big capacitors to help with the large current when the welder first strikes the arc. I think so anyways maybe I'm wrong.

That doesn't seem like anything special honestly, I mean, what can it power? Some work lights and a radio? At that point get the cordless radio and work lights 🤷♀️
It can do 1800 watts continuous and 3000 peak which means it can power most any AC appliance. The problem is that it won't do it for very long at all unless you have tons if expensive batteries laying around.
It'll run those things for a couple days, or it'll run a small AC and a fridge for like an hour. The technology isn't quite there to justify the prices of these giant power banks. The smart money would just go buy 4-6 cheap 100Ah deep cycle marine batteries and wire them together for an 85% cost savings unless portability and weight savings are absolute priorities.

As far as I know, these things are awesome but if you lived off grid, and you use this every single day for whatever and you had to charge it every day, it would like die in 2 to 3 years and guess what you would have to buy another one. You can’t buy new batteries for these. They are built into the unit as far as I know so unless anybody tells me you can service these batteries I’m not buying one of these.

Industry standard is to list inverter power in continuous watts, not peak which makes this an 1800 watt inverter, not a 3000 watt inverter.

Your math appears to be correct. This would only be useful at high power for intermittent loads like a power tool.
Could it power up an RV?

This needs to come with 4 12a batteries to make sense if they're trying to compete with other lipo battery power stations.
I run parallel with 8x 40v 12ah batteries. It runs all I need, I'm happy.

I’m just waiting for them to get solar charging for this. Then it will be great.
I'd love for this and the 8x18v power station to allow for solar charging. It'd be an incredible missed opportunity otherwise.
Very cool, but what’s the point in a power outage if you don’t have a way to recharge the batteries?
That's where the fuel powered Ryobi generator comes in very handy. See, no need to only buy just 1 product ;)
