Took a gamble on a Nigerian striker/RW who had struggled to score in the Vanarama National yet was only 17 and fulfilled the 5 star potential potential (if you will) criteria, bought him from Dulwich Hamlet for merely £10k. Made a few bench appearances for me and never set the world alight during the end of my L2 campaign, yet wound up starting up front for the first 2 L1 games due to a pre season injury crisis. Maxwell Ezeh, now 22, has averaged a 7 and over 40 goals a season in every season running, before finally dropping to 17 goals last season in the Premier league (however, the quality of defence of course shot up and he had a L1 level midfield behind him: hes now back at a goal a game now I've made some signings to improve the rest of the squad)
You mentioned he's Striker/RW I see them so often this year, either strikers that can also play one one wing or both or cm's that can play as striker its crazy
I've had two in my Bradford City save fitting the criteria. The first being Harry Farley from Tranmere in the first season so he's as real as real can get. The surprise was I expected my 150K investment to be a good L1 and Championship striker who'd fade down the stretch. He scored 20 Premier League goals in the first season and a few other transfers made for a fight for 3rd in the standings after being promoted. The second being from North Ireland in Cathair Tumilty, an Armagh based free transfer with a 13K signing fee at winger. The media descriptors at least gave me more warning than with Harry of his talent ceiling, but playing for Armagh with a 7.72 rating for a season meant he was far better and probably far more expensive than the semi-pro club was willing to pay. Given the star rating for the Premier League, his ceiling would be the best Northern Irish player this side of George Best.

Timing in FM is really everything, I had a player called Amankona, a 2* current 5* potential player that never really played for me, in his last year of contract I lost my mezzala for 5 months because of an injury and I played him, ended up scoring 11 goals and 6 assists and I offered him a new contract, he ended up choosing Mönchengladbach for about double the money I offered him. As soon as he signed the pre-contract to them, he went from a 2* to a 4*, so I lost one of the best midfielders in the world because everything aligned for him to leave

My super dark art trick is that if you can sign someone on a free/pre-contract, your DOF and their agent will have suggested squad statuses when you approach to sign them. If their agent wants squad status but your DOF wants future prospect, that's a pass. But if both want important player, I usually sign the person, even with 0% knowledge, if it's an 18 year old. Also asking agents about availability is a welcome addition to this year's game but almost functions like an instant scout, if you're willing to trust the agent's assessment, and seems a bit cheesy almost.
I usually just manually assign my best scout who's already in the region (and scouting player potential) and then go to my scouting centre and prioritized it
Greatest story of this for me was FM18. Carlos Castro, a January deadline signing from Costa Rica. £35k. 3 1/2 years later he’s got 2 Prem golden boots and broken the club scoring record. Greatest punt I’ve ever taken
You are so right about 🇨🇴 in my FM19 save I found a 5 star potential 19 year old capped for them for a release clause of under 6 million at premier league level.

I do this all the time. Many busts obviously. but also some players that were loaned out for years, never made an impact and finally sold for a fortune. I always feel like I need to do more when playing FM, then Zealand makes a video doing something I have been doing that I picked up myself. I set scouts out to find only the highest potential youth players around the world and there is nothing better than seeing "compensation - £XYk". In my current Wolfsburg save I've been picking up a lot of these deals and filling out the U19s squad and B team. Even when they come in with 3-4 potential I'm okay with it because invariably they have cost below 1mil and I know there is profit in them. The biggest success I've had is picking up a Dutch wonderkid from Ajax aged 15 for £1.1mil. He's yet to turn 17 but he has some great attributes already, and is a very technical CM/Winger. Another is Jose Quiroga a CM/CAM from Argentina who cost me £675k and is (after a 6 month loan) pushing to be a starter for me after selling my AP to Hertha for £70mil (£60mil profit from 2 years earlier, after Barca listed him)

I think my first 11 + substitutes age avg is around 20 yrs old in the Romanian First League. What do I need to take these kids to next level? :-)
Was with Reggina, just got promoted into Serie A and saw this one lad from Sud-Tirol called Pierpaolo Morat who seemed to have great potential. I didn't expected him to play this seasons as he was only 17, but tired of my shitty strikers never scoring, i decided to give him a chance, and oh god was I right. This mad lad ended up scoring 28 goals in his first season at the club and even his first season in professional football. bought him for 130k, might sell him for around 70M.
Signed a guy from York in my Barnet save for 1.8k at 16 after coming up in the scouting centre. Was top scorer for me from League 2 to the Prem and last night banged in 4 goals against Crystal Palace. In the summer I turned down a 70mil bid as he is worth more if he keeps us in the Prem. Signed him after a single scout report noting his 5 star potential and it was the best decision I have ever made in my life, even outside of FM21 and I have kids.
Took a gamble on a young Polish kid aged 16 for 105k when in Ligue 2 with Bourg Peronnas, injuries and lack of funds meant I had to use him and a 17yr old academy star to help me get promoted by winning Ligue 2. Now at aged 20 after 3 full seasons in Ligue 1 and hitting 20+ league goals a year he is now worth over £40 million. He's now my #1 Striker and turned into a Wonderkid and helped me get into the Champion's League.
Yep that’s exactly what I would do when scouting. I just switched the filter to show wanted players first. If the big clubs want him, I try to close the deal as quickly as possible before they sign the player.
Or just manage your scout assignments better, as well? You can set the priority in the scouting screen. Also two things that really help. Maximize your scouting package as well as the judging player ability and potential on your manager. You will start off at higher knowledge levels making scouting much faster.
It was way more than a small gamble but I'm in the prem and I've signed an Uruguayan for €9.75M and they've been amazing. 40 apps, 20 goals, 14 assists. Golden Boy, Young Player of the year. Absolute baller. The board rated the signing a C

This is called the scattergun approach. It is great from an economical point of view and it is the main reason why my loan army consists of roughly 100 players (aged 18-21) ^^
@@piccolo_bsc It is, but it is also incredibly profitable for any club you're managing. Loaning clubs usually pay the players wages in full, sometimes even add a loan fee, give game time to those players and develop them. This sees their attributes and their market value improve (exceptions obviously happen). Once a loan deal has ended, there are three options: the player is loaned out once again, the player is good enough to play in your first team or he gets sold (pretty much always for a significant profit). This way your club earns money from sales and loan fees as well as getting the odd (world class) first team player without paying a significant fee for him (because you got him early). :)
8 yrs into the save ipswich town in the champioship never have money to scout or out of scope. Managed to sign a couple good young players from scotland with expectation that they will develop. @@yeahyeahyeahimstillabout.4809 Me too. Moukoko for some reason has the tendency to go on a free. Even better, when he does go, he's first team level already.
Been doing this for years I have many many times signed players for 50-100k and they've ended up world beaters. Also, South Africa has an amazing amount of wonderkid newgens, such a great nation to scout
When I played as Lyon every season I would get so many blind buys I had to stop myself. Now that I play in the Premier League there's a 6 U21 cap per season so it doesn't work anymore. Does make the game a little more fun, not having a ready-made wonderkid to replace every player you sell.
One thing I’ve done in the past (and I don’t recommend this) is go through some players in the network from either South America and/or on youth teams. If I see that they’re wanted by fairly reputable teams and even have a shot at being high potential, I’ll attempt to snag them for a bargain price. Worst comes to worse, I loan them out a few seasons, increase their value, then sell them on for a decent price with a guaranteed percentage of their next transfer. Best case scenario, I get a great player for cheap that eventually becomes a Homegrown.
Transfer Market in Football Manager is like a race when you need to get the finish line first place to sign a young player who has the potential of being called a "Wonderkid" before big clubs as PSG does.
being called wonderkid is also often just a media thing though, if you find great prospect that is not called a wondekrid chances are higher that non of the bigger clubs know him yet and I assume the price is aslo cheaper because they are in general not well known to the public. at least that's how it always feels for me and I had quite a few players who earned their wonderkid status while already being at my squad
I usually get my contract offer in fast when there’s interest in the player, then if they accept my offer and reject any others, i delay the transfer while finishing enough of the scout report to see if confirming the transfer is worth it.
Siyabonga Mofokeng has to be from South Africa lmao. I know so many people with either that name or surname. Glad to see my fellow South Africans going international
South Africa has many really good talents on this game if you ask your scouts to scout the country extensively, I believe one of the clubs has one of the highest levels of south development on the game but I may be wrong there. Mamuanidi Sundowns I believe? Apologies for the probable bad spelling
@@connorhaylock95 Mamelodi Sundowns, yeah. They're the best club in the country. The other Zealand pointed out a few months ago has having excellent youth facilities was Ajax Cape Town. Affiliate club to Ajax Amsterdam. Near identical kits even.
Zealand does that too in his stream, but sometimes it's take times to get full knowledge even when you are prioritizing that player. This video is used especially if the player do you want to sign is wanted by big club or better club than your team
@@rizkipradana299 oh ok, another thing you can try if full knowledge comes slow is to keep scouting him for 1 week, you get increasingly detailed reports and ranges for the attributes and it helps a lot

Never to be seen again. Will never know how he would've done in the PL, or even if we could've kept him at the club..
I’m relatively new to FM and was surprised to put offers in for players worth just a few million, and the club rejects and asks for like 200million…it’s just ridiculous

I use dortmund and have signed loads of youngsters with 5 stars potential, but it always comes down to either : 1. psg or man city snatching them for 70m-110m€ after their first season performing well in the first team (i don’t mind this but i always end up 100m-ish€ that i don’t know how to spend wisely and end up buying more 5 stars potential) 2. ..but if they're on the shortlist it informs you if someone makes an offer? I just shortlist pretty much everyone scouts find until they're fully scouted
I can beat y'all I got a Mozambique wonder kid called Emilio Guambe who signed from ferroviario De maputo for 450 pounds. Not thousand, pounds. Who is now a 4.5 star player in a premier league winning squad who's now worth 57 million pounds. By far my best signing ever on football manager.
Yes, if you are the biggest club in the world you also can get competition from clubs like Bayern/PSG/Man Utd. You want to prevent going these wonderkids to these clubs because they are your rivals
What Koen said, in fact if you are the best club in the world it's actually better to be doing it more and just loaning the kids out as you stop your competition getting them and make big bucks in case you do need to buy any players from them as you can sell your loan army. For the most part if your doing it you'll catch the best stars but if there is an odd one you've not seen you can sell a few and buy them.
I got a challenge for you bro. If you could only scout from 5 countries what would they be? and can you make a save of young undiscovered talent from those countries only? My 5 are, Kosovo, Georgia, Algeria, Spain and Brazil. I'll submit my save. Spoiler alert: They're all technically gifted ballers lol
You don’t, simple. Until your in the championship you generally aren’t signing wonderkids that are playing for their national team which is needed to get a work permit. You need to focus on loans and end of contract players playing in lower leagues.
@@greghoward9303 the thing is if you can’t get a work permit you aren’t able to sign the player regardless of loan. Until your top of championship / going into prem, you don’t have the scouting, money, or ability to bring in foreign wonderkids who are playing on their respective national team. There always could be an exception.. But the focus has to be on loans and end of contract signings until you have money.
Do stuff like youth facilities, coaching staff or mentoring groups help players to develop into their full potential or the extra white stars are misjudging from your scouts ?
I’m telling you a game breaking FM hack... Offer 10k plus an 250k per game appearance fee for newgens on youth contracts. This this on a lot of players every year and the rebuild is done. Keep the best ones sell the rest

Alex Pascanu - bought 62k, sold 875k
I have 15 pretty decent scouts and 15 decent coaches + all other personnel. Finances are good - 50.5m balance and 16.1m transfer budget left.
Not sure where to go from here. I'd continue making money or move to a bigger club but I feel more of trying to get a major EU trophy with Dinamo Bucuresti after I got them from a very bad spot.
Very subtle... But Zealand appears to be an 'ape'! Nice big short reference, haha
I once signed a Brazilian RB for 50k (out of my 85k budget) in the Scottish championship because he was wanted by PSG. he won 7 Ballon d'ors for me
Or just manage your scout assignments better, as well? You can set the priority in the scouting screen. Also two things that really help. Maximize your scouting package as well as the judging player ability and potential on your manager. You will start off at higher knowledge levels making scouting much faster.
Love that you scouting southern Africa. Would love to see someone try win Africa champions league with someone like Polokwane City
It was way more than a small gamble but I'm in the prem and I've signed an Uruguayan for €9.75M and they've been amazing. 40 apps, 20 goals, 14 assists. Golden Boy, Young Player of the year. Absolute baller. The board rated the signing a C
🤣
The board rating only looks at transfer fee and salary.. doesn’t seem to care about performance much.
@@SimersFM I'd say mostly salary. He's on 90k/week which is about the highest in the squad. Fee is great as my budget for that season was ≈€50M. Idk if it's relevant but I forgot to mention it's also Chester FC, from the Vanarama North. Our reputation is not that great yet so maybe that skewed it a bit, idk?
@@cvetomirgeorgiev9106 I’m not sure the currency your using for salary but I don’t know how you have 50million euro in vanarama national to spend on a player
@@SimersFM lmao. I mean the team that starts in the vanarama national. The original comment mentions I'm in the prem now 90k a week is around 5 mil a year, I think
I signed the best youngster in the world to my team, but I watch this video because it's Zealand :)
This is called the scattergun approach. It is great from an economical point of view and it is the main reason why my loan army consists of roughly 100 players (aged 18-21) ^^
Isn't it super annoying and time consuming to manage so many players?
@@piccolo_bsc it is.. some people enjoy it though and some just delegate to a loan manager or dof
So if I'm understanding you correctly, I should blow through my entire budget on this strategy
Exactly
Not
First thing that F**ked with my brain was your headsets 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the tips
8 yrs into the save ipswich town in the champioship never have money to scout or out of scope. Managed to sign a couple good young players from scotland with expectation that they will develop. A year passed they never develop more than when i bought them. So i just download genie scout, found 200 potential 17 yrs old cb from hondurus and im done for the rest of the save.
Lmao
signed moukoko for 58k at ajax. won 3 ballon dors in a row..
Well moukoko is known already. For a long time.
Got him for free as Hertha BSC when he went to sign his "adult" contract lol, best thing ever.
@@yeahyeahyeahimstillabout.4809 Me too. Moukoko for some reason has the tendency to go on a free. Even better, when he does go, he's first team level already.
Intro was legendary as usual!
MUCH LOVE FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!!!! btw love the way you pronounce south african names lol
Been doing this for years
I have many many times signed players for 50-100k and they've ended up world beaters.
Congrats to your roomate Zea ! And i'll try that black magic ..
Or even some of the lesser but still top Big 5 league or some of the better Eredivisie clubs looking for the next star on the cheap.
THAT 80'S BACKGROUND CHARACTER REACTION!
Siyabonga Mofokeng is probably the most accurate South African name I've seen on FM.
2:46 DEAR FM GODS
Sorry Zealand I missed what you were saying in the first half of this video because I couldn't stop laughing at the name "MOFOKENG" 😂😂😂😂😭
Love how you got stoked for your roommate. Congrats for her
My pipeline of Brazilian youth to 50m sales ended up bagging my club close to 1billion in profit. Currently have 700m in the bank as its so steady.
Signed Ansu fati, pedri, donnuramma, hakimi,Davies, dest just in 2 season with wolves
@Thata Sefhako Fabio Silva and the board removed the Portuguese signing cause we won all the trophies
Does it take you longer to think of intro ideas more than actual fm ideas 😂😂 cus there always damn funny
Why not ask your best scout for full knowledge, then prioritizing the assignment from the scouting center? I do that when i see the wnt icon
@@Dreamer105-6 thanks
Columbia, yes. I faught for the transfer of a wonderkid,he was 2 mil,but juventus grabed him,one year later hes 60 mil.
I took AIK to become the champions of Europe after wining champions league dominating the league, I also won the euro super cup lol
The intros are so gut.
great tips buddy
once had a Danish central Defender on a free in I think League One (maybe even Vanorama National), who pretty much got me promoted a couple of times up to the championship (with him still at 4 star current ability), and I think that is were my save file went corrupted. Never to be seen again. Will never know how he would've done in the PL, or even if we could've kept him at the club..
I’m relatively new to FM and was surprised to put offers in for players worth just a few million, and the club rejects and asks for like 200million…it’s just ridiculous
When talking about busts, I expected Luke Edwards to get a shout out LOL
Do you have a video where you we can see all your steam workshop items because i need some but dont know the best ones
Can you make a video on how to improve club and league reputation?
It's basically automatic by having success in the league and internationally. Also improving the facilities helps.
Win games. Your welcome
when are we getting an apartment tour
Countries to scout for CHEAP wonderkids:
- South Africa
- Columbia
- Chile
- Uruguay
- Slovenia
- Slovakia
- Croatia
- Serbia
If you're on a budget, scout these countries.
Add Israel and Mexico to that list
@@Roscododger Mexico can get expensive, especially for the ones who are already good. But if you catch them early, there are definitely deals to be had.
i only have money to scout my own country
Congratulations on ur roommates job🏆🤙
Hey man..can u make a video on homegrown players..I'm kind off struggling to keep min 8 homegrown players in premier league
What I got from this video: South Africa will become World Cup Winners in your save
Am in a current transfer window where i have lost a striker, a left winger and a centre back... All 21, 21 and 22 years respectively to Man City , United and Liverpool on negotiations ..... I offered them larger wages , higher squad status and they still didnt come to me despite me finishing 4 th on back to back seasons with Telford FC
How does Zealand have regen players with real faces? How can I do this ?
Search for zealand facepack. He made it, its awesome.
ruclips.net/video/pmdIkhfmY6w/видео.html Here is the Zealand video on what the regen facepack is and how to download it
So how does one 'wire the world'? What instructions do you give your scouts? To begin with how do you choose your scouts? I dont think I've ever been suggested a player like those you've mentioned in those price brackets!
Instructions unclear, I've shorted the housing market in Colombia.
I exhaled sharply
2:53 Anyone else just yell DEAR FM GODS at this point?? No... just me then
Come on Z, don't beat around the bush and say his name!
His name is Luke Edwards! 7M!
I use dortmund and have signed loads of youngsters with 5 stars potential, but it always comes down to either :
1. psg or man city snatching them for 70m-110m€ after their first season performing well in the first team (i don’t mind this but i always end up 100m-ish€ that i don’t know how to spend wisely and end up buying more 5 stars potential)
2. I lost track of them and when they are first team ready they’re now 3 stars ability and only 3 stars potential (i still don’t get how this stars thingy compared to the team works)
Alas, it’s 2024, only 1 german super cup and 2 bundesliga titles and no champions league
Get yourself some Jordanian superkids
Currently playing Fm16.. Which FM is the best after that? Would like to get a newer one with the newer features, is FM21 the best?
You should wait for 22 I guess, it will be out in a couple month. However, I'm playing FM20 and enjoying it a lot
@@lucassb738 Actually a great tip. Thanks!
@@sonnyarevi2941 alternatively just go for the latest FM thats in your price range, if you don’t want to splash cash it can often be better to get a year older version for under half the price of the latest version
and here I am as ajax hovering 20 wonderkids and they dont fullfill potential as I cant give them game time so I basically am the dutch chelsea at this point, but I do alweays sell them for profit
Dutch Chelsea would mean you're loaning them all out bud so they are getting the game time lol.
@@yeahyeahyeahimstillabout.4809 I am haha and after I sell because still not good enough for my team
Like every transfer I do is one week of scouting. From less than a mile to 30 mil transfers lol.
i guess this is if you dont have attribute masking off....
11:45 *Luke Edwards lurks in the shadows*
If you think they're going to be that good, prioritise the scouting assignment, doesn't need to take that long.
if you're doing this properly you'll end up with like 30 or 40 dudes which fit this bill
I hate my swansea save bc ive found so many young talents and I can afford them but in the prem you can only sign 6 foreign players under 21 and 3 players i couldve signed in 2023 for under 1 million now are winning ballon dors in 2028/2029
Zealand: Just say PSG you don't need to respect this cheat engine team
So Luke Edwards never happened?
..but if they're on the shortlist it informs you if someone makes an offer? I just shortlist pretty much everyone scouts find until they're fully scouted
I can beat y'all I got a Mozambique wonder kid called Emilio Guambe who signed from ferroviario De maputo for 450 pounds. Not thousand, pounds. Who is now a 4.5 star player in a premier league winning squad who's now worth 57 million pounds. By far my best signing ever on football manager.
Is it worth doing this when you’re the biggest club in the world?
How do u bring foreign wonderkids to england as u climb the lower leagues? My first lower league save
You don’t, simple. Until your in the championship you generally aren’t signing wonderkids that are playing for their national team which is needed to get a work permit. You need to focus on loans and end of contract players playing in lower leagues.
So no use in signing players and loaning them to spain?
@@greghoward9303 the thing is if you can’t get a work permit you aren’t able to sign the player regardless of loan. Until your top of championship / going into prem, you don’t have the scouting, money, or ability to bring in foreign wonderkids who are playing on their respective national team. There always could be an exception.. But the focus has to be on loans and end of contract signings until you have money.
Do stuff like youth facilities, coaching staff or mentoring groups help players to develop into their full potential or the extra white stars are misjudging from your scouts ?
They do
what if we find correct newgen guy but he just dont want sign any contract because he is too young?:(
1:42 I believe that's OSO not SOS
I’m telling you a game breaking FM hack...
Offer 10k plus an 250k per game appearance fee for newgens on youth contracts. This this on a lot of players every year and the rebuild is done. Keep the best ones sell the rest
You should see my Leeds utd 2002 save...lol
Was anybody else still looking for dead Zealand on the bed all the way through the video?
Do you have to load the league into your game to search these players?
