Reminds me of when my husband was alive. We were on a quest to making the perfect pizza crust. I made homemade dough and kept tweaking the recipe and we baked our personal sized pizzas in cast iron pans. They were always so good! Put that cheese right to the edge and the hot oil on the sides crisps it up beautifully. We got too fat eating pizzas every Friday and we went on a keto diet after all that and lost the weight. Moderation is key.
Pizza is getting so expensive at the shops. Would you please share your dough recipe. I have one and it's ok. I am always looking for new recipes. Thank you.😊
@ I’m sorry for not replying sooner! I had to find it! Keep in mind that this is a basic recipe. I kept tweaking here and there. In a bowl add the following and mix: 1 C. Italian seasoning 1 tsp. Garlic powder 1 tsp. Salt Mix well! Add 4 T. Oil to your yeast mixture. Add the yeast mixture to your flour mixture and mix to make a soft dough. Drizzle a little oil over the dough, use your hand to moisten the outside of the dough ball. Cover for 30 minutes. I have used the dough without letting it rise. I actually did this often and it still turned out good. Knead your dough and divide it 3 ways for 3 personal sized pizzas. Roll each into a ball. Flatten on floured cutting board and use a roller pin or use your hands to make disks. You can just make one large pizza if you want. Put enough oil in the cast iron pan to oil up the entire bottom and sides. Lay your dough in the pan. Put your pizza sauce on, toppings and don’t be shy with the shredded cheese, put it all the way to the edge of your pizza. I can not remember the length of time it took to bake, but I do recall the oven temp was 400 degrees. Just keep an eye on it. Your cheese should be melted and bubbly and brown. You can double check the crust by lifting with a metal spatula, make sure it’s brown. Make note of how long it took so you don’t have to baby sit it so much next time. Good luck, enjoy! I have tried it with less oil, I’ve tweaked the amount of liquid, sugar, flour. Just enjoy a little change here and there until you like it. My husband wanted it chewier. I read that I probably should have been using a different kind of flour called semolina. So, get some semolina flour for chewier dough. Edited to say, I looked up the temperature to bake a pizza in a cast iron skillet because I could be wrong about 400 degrees. I read to bake it as hot as possible 450-500 degrees. I hope your pizza turns out great.
I followed your tips and made my first pizza in a 17" cast iron skillet. Since it was such a large pan, I used 1.5 dough balls. The crust was the best I've ever baked here at home! Cast iron made all the difference.
In cast iron pizza making, I build the pie and have oven preheated as hot as it will go, 500F if inside up to 600F if outdoors on gas grill, then "fry" on a burner on a lower medium setting to get the pan hot and the oil sizzling. NOT TOO HOT! Once dough begins to rise it's time to shut off the burner and let the pan set for a few minutes to get your money's worth out of the pan preheat. Next put pizza in preheated oven and remove when top ingredients are done and cheese has melted. The stove top preheat will give your bottom crust extra crunch and reduces bake time in the oven as the cast iron does take awhile to rise to a good frying temperature if directly tossed into the oven. Nice pizza and Don Pepino is pretty good for a quick and easy sauce. Thumbs up on the video!
Do you do this before toppings are on? I almost think cooking it under the broiler a few min before adding toppings would help insure it is cooked through? I just ordered some Italian 00 flour to try this recipe. Never made cast iron pizza from dough. Only tortillas when I'm not eating so much bread. Tortilla pizza is amazing. Cast iron or air friar works.

Thanks for showing the cast iron skillet. I have worked at pizza shops and cooled my own. This is the best. Doms Peppino is excellent sauce... I used half a Doug. Next time I will try one third dough next time for a thin crust. It was nice and crispy with no pizza bones. Thanks for making the dying oven work harder.😊
Looks good, I’m with you on the cast iron, some tips I can offer: pre heat your pan, this increases the crispy bottom. I love Cento pizza sauce more than Don Pepino, and you can turn on the broiler to crisp the top as well, enjoy.
Instead of pre heating the pan, you could cook it on the stove top for a few minutes before inserting into the oven. Turns out super crispy, and easier to let the dough rise in the pan. If you don't buy the dough, do a no knead for 18 hours or so.
So..... Preheat the pan on the stove with the crust, then apply the toppings, then into the stove? I watched the video and was wondering about a cold cast iron pan.
I have my Moms cast iron skillet after she passed. I need to get it seasoned but it hard for me to even look at it. She made all of our meals in it. I want to use it some day. Looking at this video makes me think of her and all of the Family gathered. Loved the video. Thank you for all you do.

If you like a thinner pizza just roll it out to how thick you like and trim it to fit the pan, you definitely don't have to have it this thick, and yes it does now remind me of a pizza hut pizza, thank you for watching!
This seems like a Detroit-style or quasi-deep dish…this is the sort of pizza you get in the Midwest…crispy, slightly thicker dough with lots of toppings. The other kind of pizza is “bar pizza” which is thin cracker crust that is cooked quickly in a counter-top oven in the bar to have with a few beers. Both are great.
@@90whatever I guarantee you that is not a Detroit style at all. Some places in the Midwest do it like this a little bit, not the same though. This is more just like @jazzyflorida3757 said, Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. But I'm sure it tastes much better.
That looks delicious so I think it’ll be on next week’s menu. Tip for cutting pizzas and not pushing your toppings off - use a bench scraper and just press through the pizza. Toppings stay put :).
Looks so good❣️ A cutting tip from “ America’s test kitchen” says to start with the pizza cutter in the center of the pizza and cut out. It keeps the cutter from crushing the crust❣️🫶

We live in Washington State and my Italian American hubby can smell that pizza from your house! Good job on the recipe!! 🍕🍕🍕
Thank you, it smelled just how it looked. Thank you for watching!
That looks amazing, thanks for sharing! I love cooking in cast iron too!
I appreciate it, thanks for watching!
This is a great comment thank you! Thanks for watching!
Looks delicious 🍕
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Looks good, I’m with you on the cast iron, some tips I can offer: pre heat your pan, this increases the crispy bottom. I love Cento pizza sauce more than Don Pepino, and you can turn on the broiler to crisp the top as well, enjoy.
Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!
Great pie...looking tasty.
Instead of pre heating the pan, you could cook it on the stove top for a few minutes before inserting into the oven. Turns out super crispy, and easier to let the dough rise in the pan. If you don't buy the dough, do a no knead for 18 hours or so.
@@daphlavor thanks for the info and thanks for watch!
So..... Preheat the pan on the stove with the crust, then apply the toppings, then into the stove? I watched the video and was wondering about a cold cast iron pan.
Ty for this!!! Great details and not hard. Very well explained! Ill be making this!
Your welcome and thank you for watching!
This looks delicious!
Thanks, and thanks for watching!
I have my Moms cast iron skillet after she passed. I need to get it seasoned but it hard for me to even look at it. She made all of our meals in it. I want to use it some day. Looking at this video makes me think of her and all of the Family gathered. Loved the video. Thank you for all you do.
This comment is awesome and thanks for sharing and watching!
When my kids were little I used y Iron Skillets a lot ! When our electric went off I made our Thanksgiving Turkey in Iron Skillet w/ Heavy foil inside My Wood Stove’, and 2 Pies. Just like my grandmother. I’ve made many pizza pies in an Iron Skillet❤. Oh, my children said the Turkey was the best they ever had! Survival. You never know? I just canned 4 cases of food, includes my Pasta Sauce. My Mother grew up around Italians, she was taught old recipes. Thank you for sharing! 👍Awesome Presentation
Great story! My mom was full blooded Italian so I learned from a young boy how to cook, wouldn't change a thing about that! Thanks for your great comment and for watching!
Great job! I'm new to cooking with cast iron. And i will say everything so far does taste better. Looking forward to trying this recipe. Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad you're enjoying cooking with cast iron! Thanks for watching!
I was wondering how to make cast iron pizza .. I just got a new cast iron skillet.. I’m looking forwards to trying your methods .. appreciate your time to make a video for those of us out here wanting more recipes for our cast iron skillets.. 👍
I subbed too! 🙏
Cast iron cooking is great, I use them all the time. Good luck with your new pan. Thanks for watching and for subscribing!
Make sure you "season" it. And season it every once in awhile. Google how to do it!! It's worth the effort and makes all-the-difference!!
@@cecileroy557 oh thank you i will .. I got the skillet at Aldi for 9.99 and surprising it’s a real nice one .. I’ve put the oil on like it said to do and cooked in it and I had a little bit of sticking and I was frying in it and still had a little sticking so I’ll do the oil thing again. I’m very happy with it .. I’m thinking if I make the pizza in it .. all that oil will help to season it more?? .. I’d like to try the liquid pizza crust recipe in the cast iron pan .. but I want to make sure it doesn’t stick at all before i do that .. I’d definitely purchase another cast iron pan from Aldi .. it’s turned out to be a nice skillet and the price was right..
That is a beautiful and delicious looking pizza. The cast iron is great for so many recipes people hardly ever use it for pizzas. This is a great idea.
I know right, it's so versatile! Thanks for watching.
I made this twice since I first saw your recipe last week and OMG it is delicious! Thank you for sharing your talent and passion for cooking! Only change I made was that I made my own pizza dough!
I'm so glad you like it. Way to go on making your own dough. Nothing like a cast iron pizza. Try my pizza sauce as well. Thanks for watching! ruclips.net/video/B2ntcQGEwG4/видео.htmlsi=nw7NpYrrsmemNP2b
I just watched your video for your pizza sauce… I already have all of the ingredients so the next time I make your pizza, I am going to give the sauce a try!
I shall be using my iron skillet next time when making pizza…Thanks for sharing…❤
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Me 2
At 13:00 i saw his sign in back drop of -- It is what it is... That is my motto ..love it. Dude the pizza looks amazing! I gotta make this! Your cast iron is very nice!
Thanks for being observant! Your pizza will come great, Thanks for watching!
This video just popped up on my feed. I just subscribed. Looks great.
Thank you so much for subscribing! I hope you enjoy the recipe.
Same, I have to ditch my pizza stone for right now!
Great recipe and walk thru.......BIG thanks
That's exactly what my channel is all about, thanks for watching!
Love the sizzling sound!
It's always a good sound! Thanks for watching!
I love Dom Pepino…it’s great.
Yes, it is, Thanks for watching!
Great job, looks incredible! I can't wait to unleash this on the family!!!
Unleash! That's so funny. Hope you guys enjoy and thanks for watching!
I need to try putting my frozen pizza in cast iron, this looks delish 😋
If you do that good luck, I've never put a frozen pizza in a cast iron pan. Thanks for watching!
I think maybe you missed the point 😅
I’m an English American gal married to an Italian… I’m always looking for authentic “just like Mama made” kind of meals. This one gave you a new subscriber just for the cast iron skillet alone … my ‘appliance’ of choice ❤️ Cheers!
I'm glad you enjoyed this, thanks for watching and subscribing!
Ohhhh my Gosh. Superb, top tier content I just stumbled across. Fantastic instructional & results- WOW! Looking forward to more content. That is one exceptional, at home, pizza. Hard to beat.
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
Looks good, I prefer thinner dough, this reminds me more like old school Pizza Hut, Pan Pizza
It did remind me of Round Table. It looks delicious!
@@90whatever I guarantee you that is not a Detroit style at all. Some places in the Midwest do it like this a little bit, not the same though. This is more just like @jazzyflorida3757 said, Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. But I'm sure it tastes much better.
Pizza Hut! I was thinking the same thing. They would even bring it out in a tall pan!
That Dough is amazing!! You tell them I said that!!
And I'm telling them who said that? Thanks for watching!
That looks delicious so I think it’ll be on next week’s menu. Tip for cutting pizzas and not pushing your toppings off - use a bench scraper and just press through the pizza. Toppings stay put :).
@@lilliputlittle thanks for the tip and thanks for watching, enjoy this recipe!
Thanks fof that tip!!!
I use my big Chinese cleaver.
Looks so good❣️ A cutting tip from “ America’s test kitchen” says to start with the pizza cutter in the center of the pizza and cut out. It keeps the cutter from crushing the crust❣️🫶
Thanks for the tip, I'll try it next time! Thanks for watching!
@ I purchased a pizza pan today to try your recipe❣️🫶
😮😮😮I love the cast iron pans also!!!! This looks incredible!!!! Yummy!!!!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
That sauce is really good!
Yeah it is, I'm glad it was recommend to me. Thanks for watching!
WOW ,you saved me almost $1000 as I was going to buy the Breville indoor pizza maker. I have several cast iron pots/pans that I use for most things and never thought of using them to make pizza, because I though the heat had to be at least 800 degrees F . After seeing your video I'm so impressed with your pizza that I'm going to try it your way {but thinner crust} ,it looks delicious , subscribed , THANK YOU!
First and foremost, thanks for such a great comment. If you like the way I make this and I'm sure you will AND saving a $1000 is a win win. You'll have to let me know how it turns out for you. Thanks for subscribing and for watching!
@@thefacelesscook4514 I will most definitely let you know, thanks again !
I special ordered this sauce because of your video. It finally arrived and I am making this pizza tonight.
Awesome, let me know how it turns out! Thanks for watching!
How was it?
@ delicious. I think I will use a thinner pepperoni next time. They were pretty thick. It was delicious

Yes, super-hot. Thanks for watching!
Subbed and liked.
Great toppings choices!

Thanks for the Sub! Enjoy my channel and thanks for watching!
Definitely giving this a try. I was hoping you were going to tell us if Don Pepino pizza sauce was any good. But thanks for the video!
It's weird I tasted it between takes but forgot to do it on camera. The sauce was fantastic. Thanks for watching!
I have never heard of a cast iron pan pizza. This looks _INSANE_ good.
I think you should make it if you get a chance. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful pie, yum! thanks for sharing.
My pleasure 😊 Thanks for watching!
Looks so good! I've never made cast iron pizza but now I'll have to try!
Once you make it once you will make when in the mood for a pizza, thanks for watching!
Yummmy! Bring on the dough😋
Thanks for watching!
Yummmmm definitely would’ve used more sauce and all the sausage!
Definitely noted, thanks for watching!
I think I would have used more sauce as well……..each to his own!
And now I have to go on the hunt for that pizza sauce in NC❤❤
I hope they sell it for you, and you can find it, thanks for watching!
I just searched and found it on Amazon if you don’t find it!

Wow that looks great! I love making homemade pizza (when I'm not being lazy).
Thank you and thanks for watching!
This is something I've been wanting to try for a while. I noticed you didn't taste it. Probably for the best - that pie still looked molten! I like your style and I subscribed.
It definitely was super-hot. Thanks for the comment and for subscribing!
