That's funny the snake at 7:24 the atheris chlorechis I took home that day from Eric at fascination herps! And was vending at that show with my buddy Todd of high scale enclosures.!
You’re the best 😭 I’m studying biology and then going to vet school ❤️ I see myself with a sanctuary in the future here in Texas where I live! You’re awesome and I love watching your videos they make me so happy and entertained
Was wondering if you could give any advice on Chameleons? I plan on getting a veiled chameleon very soon and just wanted to try and find out more on these reptiles before I get him.
I caught a wild rubber boa in Oregon and let it go- it was huge. also in the same area these other lizards..trying to recall- i think they were N.W. alligator lizards..let them go to. I tried to keep them years ago but sisbnt see any eat so i took them back
Hi. I have recently discovered your Channel. I have been interested in reptiles ever since my dad got me my fist bearded dragon. I have a high yellow leopard gecko. I am highly interested in getting more reptiles and a ferret and hedgehog. Of course that’s when I do a bit more research. This seems like an amazing place to get animals. If you don’t mind could someone please tell me where it is located? Thanks! Keep doing what your doing!❤️😁
just found the channel and massive fan :) looking into getting a gecko at university (something small) any recommendations? use to have a crestie at home
Depending on your skill level and willingness to read up on your animals, I'd recommend anything from cresties, gargoyles, leopard geckos, African fat tails, and banded geckos. All great starters so long as you get the basics right!
Never been to an expo, but if the reptiles need humidity and heat how does that work with the traveling and for show at an expo? Like how long can they go without those necessities?
Hey I just found your channel from your reptile room tour and I know this isn’t related to this video but I feel it’d be easier to get a response on a video that doesn’t have 700k views, anyway, in the tour you show you have a California garter snake which is my dream snake, however I can’t find where to buy one, any tips on how I can get one of my own
Cade7501 if you go to www.albinogartersnake.com you will find pricings for many different garter snakes including the blue-phased California red sided garter snake. The website implies that you can buy these snakes but I haven't checked to see how. Good luck on finding a snake tho.
AfroHerpkeeper alright thanks a lot man, I’m going to Repticon January 20th so if I don’t find one there I’ll definitely look him up, preciate the help
it looks like a monitor lizard but with stripes he was in a play pen there but there were two one was huge like a Dragon without wings he only had stripes all over his body
Yep, he's an Asian water monitor. Very cool lizards! They can do alright around kids, unlike Nile monitors, which are more prone to aggressive behavior.
The cages are A-Round Nature enclosures and the lizard is a mourning gecko! Really cool little species that’s all-female! They reproduce through parthenogenesis and don’t actually need to be fertilized to lay eggs.
There's a show in Conroe Texas right now he's vending at so if your in the area you can always go check it out! he's a good friend who makes those vivs and they are great!
Next year I’m looking to start a breeding project with numerous gecko and dwarf monitor species - I might include alligator lizards! If so, it’d be primarily to increase the number of captive-bred specimens for sale. There are way too many abronia being imported from the wild right now.
Watney is still with me! I’m actually looking to start a sizable breeding project next year and a few banded gecko species are definitely included in those plans.
AfroHerpkeeper cool I thought about starting up a banded gecko breeding project because you can house males and females together with no problem but I've already decided to do ball python breeding, I'm gonna do clown morphs as there's not a whole load of clown morphs around at the moment 😀 good luck in your banded gecko breeding project 👍
Francisco Gonçalves in general, their startup cost is the most expensive. Tanks will be more expensive than tubs. The 40 gallon breeders I have, I got for $40 a piece. I keep my adult balls in $25 Christmas tree tubs, juveniles in $13 sterilite bins that are roughly the size of a 40 gallon tank. Heating and thermostats will cost quite a bit. Thermostats start at about $30 and can get up to a couple hundred. Heating mats and ceramic heat emitters may be around $20-$30 to buy and install. Obviously hides and water dishes and substrate will be a startup cost ranging from $20 to $100 depending on how elaborate you go with your enrichment. My substrate is $20 per bag and lasts about 3-4 months for my 8 snakes. Monthly, you're looking at the cost of feeding and maybe substrate. For me, since I buy in bulk, I spend about $170 every 4-6 months on feeders for my 8 snakes. When I just had one ball python, I was looking at about $20 a month on feeders, $8 a month on substrate. It's not terribly expensive. Startup is pretty expensive, I'll say. If you're looking for something cheap, vets checks for snakes and reptiles are insanely expensive. Yearly wellness checkups for my snakes (which are absolutely necessary) cost about $100 per snake. Emergencies happen with snakes just like any animal. A vet check yesterday for one of my snakes, who is completely healthy, was $200. An emergency fund is important! But they don't cost much to maintain.
If you’ve seen my latest room tour, you’ve actually already seen it! I’m a bit behind on expo videos, so this was actually filmed over the summer. I walked out with a Zilla setup, some plants, substrate, and wood pieces, a new snake hook, and Bowie the ball python.
Tokay gecko. Cool little buggers and pretty common, but they have a reputation for being bitey. If you can find someone who breeds them, the captive-bred ones are much more tame.
Damn, that dude snatched that snake out of your hand as if it was a plastic toy. He must've been pissed, either that or he needs to learn how to handle snakes. Probably both, tbh
I would, but if you've seen my newest room tour you've already seen it all! This expo was actually in July - I got plenty of wood pieces, plants, and substrate, as well as a Zilla setup, snake hook, and Bowie the ball python.
Gators and crocs make absolutely terrible pets unless you have a fenced pond, but many dwarf caimans can be worked with (by very experienced keepers). All of them have the potential to take your hand off (or much worse). The ones in this vid are Morolet's crocodiles - if I remember right, they were about $150 each... that or something closer to $250.
Those are all for sale by Nathan Hall of www.austinreptileconnection.com/ In frame you can see western banded geckos, rough thick-toed geckos, and a couple species of knobtail geckos.
AfroHerpkeeper oh awesome! I seen him in your previous vid. He’s lovely I’ve just got myself a ball python called Alfred. Love to see you do a ball python set up vid
This expo was actually quite a while back, but I did get a lot of stuff! Plenty of wood pieces, plants, and substrate, as well as a Zilla setup, snake hook, and Bowie the ball python.
I would, but if you've seen my last room tour you've already seen everything I got! I'm a little behind on expo videos so this one was actually filmed over the summer. If I'm remembering right I walked home with a bunch of plants, wood pieces, a new Zilla setup, and Bowie the ball python!
I would but you’ve probably already seen it all! I’m pretty behind in my expo videos and this was actually filmed in July. Walked out with some plants, wood pieces, a Zilla setup, and Bowie the ball python!
I think the one you saw is either a monitor lizard or a baby tegu - if it was huge, definitely a water monitor. If it was smaller, either a baby tegu or a Timor monitor.
I’m not sure if ethical is the word you’re looking for, but I assure you that pet venomous snakes are absolutely no danger to the public! Despite what the media will tell you in the rare instance a cobra or viper escapes, these snakes are very delicate and never attack humans. Additionally, the majority of breeders/dealers of venomous snakes have a rigorous process for determining who they can sell to, and won’t let inexperienced or questionable individuals purchase animals. The snakes are pets just like any other animal, and not a danger or a health hazard to anyone but careless owners. Someone with a desire to harm others using venomous snakes would have a very hard time accomplishing their goal, just due to the nature and behavior of the snakes themselves.
My worry is not public safety, its the safety of the animals and when you're selling them at a pet expo for 100 I have serious doubts about the competency of the buyers to own potentially life threatening animals. I simply don't believe such animals should be available to the general public without permits. Same goes with reticulated pythons and Anacondas. They belong in zoos or with professional keepers not being sold dirt cheap at unregulated pet expos
WiredPyro I don't think they're gonna let somebody with no experience in snakes buy a mamba, taipan, viper, etc. They would probably ask you heaps of questions before selling them to you. As for public safety the most dangerous snake in the video was probably the green mamba, but it looked very calm
As they should, but if they aren't required by law to do so there's no guarantee. Forget experience in snakes you need experience with venomous snakes you need the proper equipment to keep them safely you need anti venoms. Venomous snakes can be calm they can be very well adapted to humans but it takes one mistake. This is why I dont think they should be available to the general public
That’s true - there’s no guarantee. That is an issue, but as a community we should certainly strive to support those who do things right, and avoid those who don’t.
Depends on how thin he is. Many keepers prefer to keep their beardies lean, others a little tubby. So long as they’re not obese and they still have a full stomach and rounded shape, they should be alright.
That's funny the snake at 7:24 the atheris chlorechis I took home that day from Eric at fascination herps! And was vending at that show with my buddy Todd of high scale enclosures.!
Awesome! I got my blood python from them a few years back.
Oh my that sounds like heaven
I love your lizards
I was at HERPS conroe. Loved it. I got my precious little blood python there!
You’re the best 😭 I’m studying biology and then going to vet school ❤️ I see myself with a sanctuary in the future here in Texas where I live! You’re awesome and I love watching your videos they make me so happy and entertained

Of all the snakes u hold the puff adder it's so bad in South Africa 😂
Was wondering if you could give any advice on Chameleons? I plan on getting a veiled chameleon very soon and just wanted to try and find out more on these reptiles before I get him.

Love your channel keep the fantastic work 😁👍😁👍
I look so damn goofy on camera 🎥 lol
I binge watch your videos 😭💀😂

Like how he makes good reptile videos
Another great video
Great video! Thanks again. Also, what all did you get? You said that was just a handful of stuff.
I ended up with a Zilla setup, a new snake hook, some wood decor, some substrate, a few plants, and a champagne pastel ball python (Bowie).
AfroHerpkeeper Awesome bro! Thanks for the reply! 👍
Was that a spaceballs reference at 3:15 ?
just found the channel and massive fan :) looking into getting a gecko at university (something small) any recommendations? use to have a crestie at home

That was AWESOME!!! I FUCKING LOVE REPTILES.
I love the round terrariums. What are those for specifically?
Anything you want to display, really. I've seen them used for tarantulas, chameleons, geckos, skinks, snakes... They're called A-Round Nature habitats
AfroHerpkeeper Thank you’ I was wondering if you could keep geckos in them.
Never been to an expo, but if the reptiles need humidity and heat how does that work with the traveling and for show at an expo? Like how long can they go without those necessities?
What are those circular tanks and are they recommended for home use or just for show displays
That one leopard gecko was just looking at you with those big eyes
Hey I just found your channel from your reptile room tour and I know this isn’t related to this video but I feel it’d be easier to get a response on a video that doesn’t have 700k views, anyway, in the tour you show you have a California garter snake which is my dream snake, however I can’t find where to buy one, any tips on how I can get one of my own

I've seen a few at expos, but I'd also recommend checking out Shaun Hayes of Shaun's Gregarious Garters
AfroHerpkeeper alright thanks a lot man, I’m going to Repticon January 20th so if I don’t find one there I’ll definitely look him up, preciate the help
AfroHerpkeeper hello today I️ rescued a baby Pac-Man frog from starvation from petsmart it was most likely part of a mass Breda bc it was 4$
you probably get this a lot but what do you think the best way to convince you parents to get you a reptile (blue tongue skink)
it looks like a monitor lizard but with stripes he was in a play pen there but there were two one was huge like a Dragon without wings he only had stripes all over his body
Yep, he's an Asian water monitor. Very cool lizards! They can do alright around kids, unlike Nile monitors, which are more prone to aggressive behavior.
My baby rushion tortois is doing good and has grown a small amount
you should get a monitor lizard cause they can be very gentle but have sharp claws.
What type of cages are those at 1:07? Also what kind of reptile is that at 5:13?
The cages are A-Round Nature enclosures and the lizard is a mourning gecko! Really cool little species that’s all-female! They reproduce through parthenogenesis and don’t actually need to be fertilized to lay eggs.
Thanks!
There's a show in Conroe Texas right now he's vending at so if your in the area you can always go check it out! he's a good friend who makes those vivs and they are great!
I was giving a lot of thought to going, but couldn't have made it to this one. Next time!
what was the lizard with spots:
Which one? A timestamp or description would help
Is Blue doing good
Absolutely! He’s got free roam of my room now, and apart from leaving a mess on my floor every so often he’s doing great.

DReis 7
Hi
It's actually a Sudan Plated lizard, G. major
Awesome video, also do you plan on getting a Mexican Alligator Lizard?

nice
what snake was that at 2:53
EliteXwolf looked like a rosy boa
Its a mexican king snake
Mexican rosy boa
I agree - definitely a rosy boa. Not sure what locality or morph, but I remember she wasn’t cheap!
Who took in your Texas banded gecko 🤔
Watney is still with me! I’m actually looking to start a sizable breeding project next year and a few banded gecko species are definitely included in those plans.
AfroHerpkeeper cool I thought about starting up a banded gecko breeding project because you can house males and females together with no problem but I've already decided to do ball python breeding, I'm gonna do clown morphs as there's not a whole load of clown morphs around at the moment 😀 good luck in your banded gecko breeding project 👍

Hey where exactly was this expo located in the Hill Country bc my hometown is Ingram/Kerrville, Texas & I wanted to see how close you were to there?!
This was in Dripping Springs!
Will their be showing us what you got?
If you’ve seen my latest room tour, you’ve actually already seen it! I’m a bit behind on expo videos, so this was actually filmed over the summer. I walked out with a Zilla setup, some plants, substrate, and wood pieces, a new snake hook, and Bowie the ball python.
the chuckwalla was cool. not sure $125 though.
Great video.
oh my god how much was that two headed corn snake???
Pretty sure he was not for sale - but I've seen them fetch pretty high prices!
AfroHerpkeeper Hey, AfroHerpKeeper, will you be going to the Tinley Park reptile expo in october?
5:27 does anyone know what species that lizard is?
Frog-eyed gecko, Teratoscincus scincus! Really cool little guys gaining popularity right now.
What is the lizard at 1:55? :o
Tokay gecko. Cool little buggers and pretty common, but they have a reputation for being bitey. If you can find someone who breeds them, the captive-bred ones are much more tame.
did you get a new pet?
nice video!
Damn, that dude snatched that snake out of your hand as if it was a plastic toy. He must've been pissed, either that or he needs to learn how to handle snakes. Probably both, tbh
Make a video of the stuff u bought
I would, but if you've seen my newest room tour you've already seen it all! This expo was actually in July - I got plenty of wood pieces, plants, and substrate, as well as a Zilla setup, snake hook, and Bowie the ball python.
What’s species is that gecko at 1:50?
Tokay gecko - they aren't normally that calm, but that one was bred in captivity
what type of tanks were those at 4:50
Those are A-Round Nature enclosures!
thank u
Unless something has changed since I last checked, isn't it illegal to keep non native venomous reptiles in texas?
Nope - the permit is $20 to my knowledge. It's definitely illegal in specific cities
AfroHerpkeeper I checked into this afterwards and you are correct, I never knew this despite looking into it several years ago
What reptile did you get
I got Bowie the pastel champagne ball python at this expo.
How much did those baby alligators cost?
Gators and crocs make absolutely terrible pets unless you have a fenced pond, but many dwarf caimans can be worked with (by very experienced keepers). All of them have the potential to take your hand off (or much worse). The ones in this vid are Morolet's crocodiles - if I remember right, they were about $150 each... that or something closer to $250.
I got a baby tegu lizard and a baby Gabon viper
What kind of lizard @ 5:29???
Frog-eyed gecko, Teratoscincus scincus!
What is the lizard at 5:13
Mourning gecko! Really cool all-female species that reproduces without a male.
A clam tokay? That's a first
1:48 what gecko is that?
Tokay gecko - normally they aren't nearly that docile, but that one was bred in captivity.
Looks amazing :)
5:16 what lizards are those
Those are all for sale by Nathan Hall of www.austinreptileconnection.com/ In frame you can see western banded geckos, rough thick-toed geckos, and a couple species of knobtail geckos.
btw man your absolutely amazing and the first youtuber who is so nice in your vlogs and theres just something that makes your videos amazing
Would you ever get a praying mantis
Possibly! I think they’re very cool, but I’m working primarily with reptiles rather than invertebrates.
AfroHerpkeeper ok thanks for replying

AfroHerpkeeper wow! Thought it was some kind of small lizard.

good music not the bland dorky music everyone else dubs in
Never ever use the lame-o music that the immature love..with pumped up electronics and voices-uggh1 Keep the afro hip music going!
