The Dolby atmos is amazing. I honestly felt like the human story felt more better here then in the second movie
It sounds very good, but the bass in this movie isn't low enough, and never has been. It's loud, but seldom dips below 30 hz or so. This kind of movie begs for infrasonic bass, which is 20 hz and below. Godzilla: King Of The Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong both have a lot of infrasonic bass, but this film is devoid of it. Such a disappointment.
the steelbook was sold out since the beginning in my area, I will probably go with the slipcover edition!
Edit: I found the steelbook on zavvi for pre order comes out april 12 in UK
I dont know why but for some reason I love the long build up in this movie.
Agree, would have loved to see more of him. I opened up the SteelBook yesterday and it definitely looks better in person. Going to watch it tonight.
Picked mine up on release day but didn’t watch it until last night. It was bloody awesome! The Atmos track was far more enveloping than the previous mix. Picture quality was much better. The LFE was terrific and moved several tchotchkes I had nearby!

I grabbed the steelbook version and the PQ is a massive improvement over the old blu-ray to my eyes, can't wait for the new flick.
I watched the 4k digital version on vudu with DV instead of hdr10. I did notice some of the issues you were mentioning as well. However, I thought it was due to streaming. Very solid transfer and a big improvement overall. Thanks for the video.
Looking forward to seeing this again. Godzillas detail is nice on steelbook.
Compared with the 3D version, which would you prefer? I recently picked up the 3D and not sure I need the 4K as well. The Atmos is tempting though.
On vudu it's on dolby vision is there a big difference ?

Your opinion is weird bc you prefer a mindless monster film vs a well thought out story/universe 😂 I love the monster-verse. Kong Skull Island & King of the Monsters are legit great films
I don’t think it’s weird at all. I love Kong Skull island and King of Monsters as well so I’m not sure where you are getting that idea from. I like the “monster verse” quite a lot, but it doesn’t take away from my issues with Godzilla 14.

Odd that you would say that in the Godzilla 14 video thread. If you’re talking about seeing movies “theatrically” then no, I didn’t see Wizard of Oz when it first came out. Their is such a thing as watching movies at home so I’m not sure what you’re getting at.
Godzilla 2014 is like Godzilla 1954. doesn't show him that much and focuses more on the humans

Disc just looks and sounds better. I bought some stream 4k movies and I when saw a 4k disc movie it was not the same in my opinion. Sound quality with a Atmos setup is far superior on disc.
Save up your money and buy a 4K player. Some of these titles will knock your socks off.
Its sad that I have to say there should have been more Godzilla in a "Godzilla" movie. Just like there should have been more Mad Max in a "Mad Max" film.
