Shapiro himself has been heavily speculated to be a top contender in his own right for the 2028 Presidential Election, so being the running mate to an unpopular VP in what could be a failing ticket would heavily hurt his national profile. Just look at JFK in 1956, he was a greenhorn senator who was actually close to being Adlai Stevenson's running mate that year, but lost the nomination to Tennessee's Senator Estes Kefauver, but those two got obliterated by Eisenhower. So, while he didn't get the VP nod, Kennedy did manage to carry a major win in his bid for a second term, built a better political profile, and ended up winning the 1960 Presidential Election. I'm guessing Shapiro will play a similar game and bide for time so that he can build up his own profile, win a second term, and officially run in 2028. That's my own take, at least.

Shapiro himself has been heavily speculated to be a top contender in his own right for the 2028 Presidential Election, so being the running mate to an unpopular VP in what could be a failing ticket would heavily hurt his national profile. Just look at JFK in 1956, he was a greenhorn senator who was actually close to being Adlai Stevenson's running mate that year, but lost the nomination to Tennessee's Senator Estes Kefauver, but those two got obliterated by Eisenhower. So, while he didn't get the VP nod, Kennedy did manage to carry a major win in his bid for a second term, built a better political profile, and ended up winning the 1960 Presidential Election. I'm guessing Shapiro will play a similar game and bide for time so that he can build up his own profile, win a second term, and officially run in 2028. That's my own take, at least.
