Hi Phil, we’ve used Solbio for 2 years. Mainly in our seasonal pitch, so we’ve used it a lot. Over 100 nights this year. It’s a great product, easy to dispense with no staining. We found it’s not as effective in warm weather to mask smells. We do use are toilet for number 2s. This year I fitted the Thetford cassette extractor kit. It’s a fairly easy DIY job, but is a game changer for odour control. For the last couple of months we’ve just used biological washing fluid and Zoflora in the flush tank. Much cheaper and with the extractor a great combination. We never saw any black bits when flushing, but after introducing Zoflora we got lots out the flush tank. We’ve been away for 3 weeks and it’s taken this long for black bits to be fully eradicated. Many thanks from John & Al

Hi John & Al. I have to say I was not keen on the fluids own smell. It did breakdown the tissue. I think had Alfie been with us the Solbio may not have coped. I like the idea of a Extraction system. I will look into this over winter. Thanks for the suggestion. Phil & Juliet.🙂👍

@@lostweekendscaravan Hi again Phil, I used both Rob Wise ways and DT Squared videos. I used a stud finder to make sure I didn’t drill through a floor support, and used DT Squared’s method of a smaller exit hole. If you do go down the extractor route, check you get the correct circuit board in the kit. Ours was wrong, it was supplied with a single reed switch when it should have been a double. Caused a few electrical function issues. As the kit includes more functions. Light indications for cassette removed, half full and full. Al thinks it’s the best mid we’ve done to the van.

    Thanks Phil.
Like the idea of the fill spout and the 'when I'm empty' guage on the side of the package.👍 Incidentally, is the package recyclable - maybe I missed that point ?

Hi Martin. Yes the packaging is recyclable ( Forgot to mention). I have to say it does work but I was not keen on the fluids own smell. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Hi Phil & Juliet, Never tried Solbio. I’ve always used Thetford fluids. I did try Elsan Organic earlier this year but found it didn’t contain enough fragrant so I’ve returned to Thetford products. The genuine Thetford cassette toilet ventilator as Gnarly Boot John mentioned works a treat to extract cassette odours 👍. It’s worth looking into. All the best to you both, Rob & Gail 😀

Hi Rob n Gail. I have used Elsan for a while now prior to that I used the 40 Shot stuff. Both after a while did not help reduce the fragrance. The Solbio has its own smell which I could not get on with. Does Thetford have an organic version? If so I will try it. Thanks Phil & Juliet🙂👍

Tried this on a 3 week tour of Scotland last year, couldn't get on with it, usually empty my cassette every couple of days as we only use it mostly to have a wee at night found it smelled fairly nice when you first put it freshly in cassette but after a few uses it had the smell of stale urine, also found it did not breakdown the cheap toilet paper we use, ended up emptying cassette every day and also used more than recommended amount to see if it worked any better, after around 12 days we had used around 3/4 of the fluid, Karen said the smell seemed to be getting worse the more we use it so reverted back to my good old trusty 40 shots environmental toilet fluid which luckily I had in caravan as well, may just be me but no way would I buy the overly priced fluid again

Hi Karen & Andrew. Interesting. I have to say I could not get on with the fluids own smell. I like you only use the loo for a wee. It did breakdown our loo roll which was Costco's Kirkland own brand. I think we emptied the loo an extra time above our normal refresh of 2 days. Thanks Phil.🙂👍

@@lostweekendscaravan think I'm the only one on Y.T who did a negative review video 😂😂😂

Sounds good, I'll take a look to see if the discount is still available. I've been using Elsan Organic for years, would never use anything that's not organic, so this would be something new to try. Thank you for the video!
edit - having read the other comments, I will look up the other products (40 Shots etc), I've never heard of this and my local caravan dealer only stocks Elsan, Thetford and, I think, AquaKem. (I AM a C&MH club member but have been too busy to look at the monthly magazines for far too long 😂, so any adverts/reviews etc I haven't seen yet!!)

Hi. It does a good job but to honest as I said in the video I didn't like the smell. We used the 40 shot but the pleasant smell did not last long. We are going to be trying Aquakem next season. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Phil👍🙂
