I’ve had the Salty for almost a year now and it’s one of my favorite reels in my arsenal! It’s way up there on the list of my most regularly used reels. Handles bull reds and big ol’ jacks with no issues.
@@flatsclassyoutube5502any plans for a recent video with the OG? Saw your little teaser online. It will be interesting to see that vs an old Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4600/5600 and other close sizes. I think it will fit right in between the Calcutta and Calcutta conquest! Really excited.
Whips up overslot reds and snook with no problem and love when you turn "off" the drag, you can really play with a fish that may be lightly hooked and still has slight resistance so it doesn't accidently run out too fast. Can't wait to see what you get on yours CA! Fun fact, you caught the first bass on mine =D
I absolutely love my Hundo! I talked to Chris also great guy to talk to. Awesome Texas company. This reel once you tune it in is super smooth casting and can absolutely bomb cast if you need it to!!
Bates Hundo 100? More like Bates 3-Hundo! Ok but seriously it sounds like a nice reel. I’m curious if it has the durability and longevity though to match that price point. I’ll definitely tune in for your further videos on this, especially the “stress testing” in Louisiana
Good luck. Sincerely. There already is controversy on its location of origin/assembly. Four hundred for Doyo parts is a very tough sell. May it keep you happy longer than 13 and Florida Fishing reels did.
Hi zero controversy Zero doyo parts 100% engineered in the USA with parts sourced globally to our spec. Yes we own the IP and patents. Also all on our website
@@batesfishingcoI hope that is true! But it has been dissected on forums to claim otherwise. Hey, nothing is true anymore on social media. I'll say again... Sincerely, I hope it's great
@@taylorshiver3284I think that's the real story here. Why would Shimano/PP give up their best face in the inshore game? Heck, their only face! There isn't a better rep to have. Shimano has to be managed by fools....
@@taylorshiver3284switching up brands all the time is a fairly normal practice for people that love to review gear. At least flats is very open about it, and doesn’t have a “this is the best” mindset. And he has no current affiliation with this company at the moment.
I've looked at American made reels and there all in the higher price range. It is what it is. One thing i like about shimano is even they're cheaper reels are decent.
Looks like you read my comment a year ago about Bates company reels. Glad you listen lol. But i do love my shimano reels to. I hope you can give a 1 year review next year and hope you will show all those big, big fish!
I own two of them one on a medium light rod one on a ultralight they cast a mile and feel really good in the hand back lashes come out almost on their own 95% of the times and I’m using 15 pound power pro ultra slick eight . It’s one of the best reels I own.
I put 100 yards of15 pound 8X strand J Braid with mono backing, and man-o-man this thing sings! I tried it out this morning at my close to home lake and caught two stocked pure strain 18 inch Stripers swimming a Z Man Baby Goat on a point. I normally fish the shallow flats of the Maryland and Virginia Chesapeake Bay from an Old Town Autopilot 120 Kayak. I was amazed just how far I could cast while sitting. Un Real!
Love my hundo , I know the cnc is done by longzee. I know the longzee even uses the same matrix braking system on their reels . I bought my hundo on tw during their holiday sale when they put reels on sale for a week .
I have the Bates Salty 150. Haven't cought a fish with this reel. They are made in China tho but realy well made. China can make some quality stuff and this reel shows it. This reel is for salt water.
It’s great to see you working with these smaller brands it’ll really allow you to have more freedom to fish and create videos more freely I imagine. Wishing you the best and I’ll be on the hunt for one soon! 🎉
So that reel is 100% from top to bottom , and all parts are USA made ? I know Florida fishing products passes their stuff off as usa made but their reels are made and built in China. Im 100% shimano. I also buy my reels straight from japan now. Got the new 2024 Twin power for $323 out the door and received it in 2 days from kobe japan. Free shipping too. Here in the states that same reel is $481 out the door.

It’s a nicely machined frame reel . Other than the frame, the gears, bearings and drag it’s pretty average. I also don’t like the fact it’s made in China.
I only buy the Japanese made reels from Daiwa and Shimano. Only their lower level reels are made in Malaysia. Daiwa and Shimano own their factories does Bates?
I recently got the GOAT and it packs a lot of confidence for me. So far I’m sold on Bates and look towards plenty of casts with it.
Bates makes a reel called the Salty 150. It’s not as light as the Hundo, but it has 20lb of drag. Super nice
I am going to buy that one next my friend!

I know… they are not going to be a secret in Florida for very long!
Good info, and I see it used and sold a lot here in Texas. But at the price point, I’m still considering a Tranx 150 series as next.
Too bad you aren’t with Shimano anymore. I got the Tranx 150 on your recommendation and that thing is great.
Nothing wrong with Shimano product… they just weren’t a good fit for my brand
Thanks CA, I appreciate the product reviews. I’m excited to try one of these. I’m going to order one for me and my son. See you soon.

Another great video from you! You have made fishing amazing for so many people!
You mentioned the Shimano Metanium. Are there any problems with magnesium in salt water? I’m happy to see that the Bates is machined aluminum!
Yeah magnesium definitely doesn’t like saltwater but…

Hi we make the frames for Loongze actually but we did partner with their engineers for the matrix breaking system. Very smart group of guys

PRC

No… I just decided to step away. Not enough freedom for my brand with certain protocols
