Thank you so much to our panel for being part of this episode 🔥 The A on the Paddle board is for Agree and the D is for disagree! What did you take away from this episode? 🤔
Such nonsense, people must just use right documents to enter the country....its only in south africa that everyone want to sound woke and debate immigration laws Motsoaledi say it better ,stop blackmailing people and follow the laws People must stop promoting lawlessness in this country period
I want to know who is considered a foreigner, because most South Africans who claim to be South African where born in South Africa to be considered South African 🤔 ( It doesn't mean you South African ) let's stop fooling ourselves here and do our research on where we really come from before calling each other foreigners. We need a part 2 and please make sure we really have uncomfortable conversations about "political issues"
South Africans aren't lazy. I'm so tired of hearing that nonsense. South Africans won't agree to being exploited to the degree that foreign nations will because we aren't as desperate. Public health care, social grants, public education, etc.
To throw in my little 2 cents in the hearth of this incredible conversation, I agree that xenophobic retaliation really is anger directed at the wrong group of people. The problem is all foreign nationals who engage in criminal activities together with other South African citizens who are in collaboration with them. Further, the only people that suffer are SA citizens and other foreign nationals that aren't criminals. Our government is the first to collaborate with some of the unruly foreign nationals, and that's the problem we should rather combat. Thank you once again for this insightful conversation! Keep it coming.🙌
To add on to your point, we shouldn’t be so quick to paint every foreign national with the same brush… and telling all foreign nationals to “go home” is xenophobic in that it denies people from other African countries the right to live in the country of their choice…
I love that you said, "our government " people need to realise thar we as South African citizens are the government. We like to blame those in power in our government and not take the blame for our actions. We as South Africans engage in crimes such as theft, murder, drugs and kidnapping and help foreigners that engage in these crimes. We can blame those in power all we want but we are also the problem. We need to sort that problem within ourselves before anything else. Also those in power are there to assist you and not give you better, but it's a shame because also they engage in these crimes.
@@ninamugabe also there's a limitation to the right to live in a country of your choice. You technically can't live in a country of your choice, you need the correct documents and be a responsible citizen of that country.
@@phiwelove You're correct, however, I wasn't merely making use of the term government loosely because I'm well aware that the citizens are in actual fact the government. However, the voting system is implemented so we may put people in positions of influence within the governing system of our country, so implementation of governing rules and systems is in the hands of those we've elected to govern the country with the best interests of the nation at heart. To avoid further digression, I simply made mention of that term deliberately because I'd already stated that we do have SA citizens who are criminals. I hope there's a sense of clarity going forth. 😉
As much as Bongani agrees that we being typical about the foreign nationals he must also drop that though of South Africans are lazy, South Africans love romanticizing these other Countries and downgrade themselves and they include all of us for that Matter.. please ✋🏽
I enjoyed this conversation, thank you to the panel for sharing their thoughts. Am I the only one who missed what D and A stand for on the paddle boards? 🤔
What we need to understand about the apartheid government physically and racially separated people so that we all will see each other as “other”. This alone put up a division based on nothing but ignorance and that is a barrier that we need to overcome
Congrats to Noma on hosting 🎊🌻 You're doing amazing facilitating a great chat! As an immigrant (DRC 🇨🇩🇿🇦) I'm aware that the media's perception drives what we see on the ground in urban areas like the location & city. More representations could help this, thank you so much for doing this for the immigrant community. Where it concerns the topic of race & dating, sometimes (I have observed. !) Dating preferences are driven by body image & it's about appreciation (think Kim & Kanye), but I would agree that remaining within one single race is a concern & definitely political & negative. This would begin as young as children in kindergarten. But generally people go where they're celebrated. There is ease there Thanks for a great show Guys! 🌻🌻🌻
People need to educate themselves about xenophobia in relation to the socio-economic and political issues that the country’s facing now… people need to stop painting all foreigners with the same brush… people need to stop sharing the sentiment that foreigners are stealing jobs from locals when all we’re trying to do is make a living for our families just like local South Africans are doing… I just wish government would help illegal immigrants living in the country get documentation instead of sending them back to their war-torn countries to basically die…
South Africa is a beautiful country with beautiful people but why do they have so much energy to kick out brothers and sisters from other African countries but have no energy for the other Nationalities that are robbing SA blind? You have over 2 million illegal Europeans in your country - taking your high paid jobs (with no visas / work permits) but you do nothing about that - you have no energy to address that? Do you really believe there are no SA criminals in other countries Do you not realise that everything you say about Zim and Nigerians is said about you in Europe?

Are foreign nationals fairly and accurately represented in South African Media?
No they’re highly misrepresented
Oh definitely not and it's so unfortunate.
No.
Foreigners are marginalized in South Africa.

The conversation is just one sided... Just from previledge perspective
Open borders is the best solution for South Africa let's fight for that
