    EASY FIX - - On those budget guns, the lids normally stick as the plastic swells and shrinks with the thinners, an easy fix is to pop lid off, and give the threads on the actual pot a quick sanding around take off half a mill all round... Be as good if not better than new 👌😉

    Hi Tony, again thanks for your help with our little chat a few days back, I got the gun used here in the 2.0 and had no problems laying a good wet coat of high build primer, just 3 coats and the job was done. As you say not the best gun but for the price it does a good job. Used it for the first time today, thanks mate 👍

    Excellent mate thanks for that. I end up with weeks in between time spent on the car so the paint has loads of time to shrink and settle. It would be a pity to bugger up the rust protection that has lasted so long just to say it was bare metal resprayed. Cheers man. Keep em coming. You're the UK Gunman for sure. 👍🏻

    I repainted my Honda Civic MK8 with my neighbour and we used HB Body 2K High Build primer, we got some really bad shrink back on it. Once we put the base coat and intercoat down, it all looked good. Once we hit it with the clear (we used Millaco 2K HS clear), the shrink back was very noticeable and was a bit of a bummer. Its my daily though so I didn't mind it.
    I'm currently restoring a 2002 Celica and am using 1K products this time purely because my wife has asthma and at the time I did the civic, I didn't know of the dangers associated with 2K. Put some new skirts on it and a new front bumper, which need priming and this video had been very helpful so far.
    Thanks for showing us your experience and the way to hit the car with primer. The old girl is looking great, even in just naked primer 😀

    Cheers mate. Here's one... Do I really need a one of the short throw DA's for the 3000 trizact stage or are the normal air DA's we use for bodywork OK? Hope ya don't mind all the the questions, I don"t want to balls this up.

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  8 лет назад

      +Barry Jones I'm not using a 2.5mm orbit for trizact mate and have no issues , however if you were using the 3m dry microfinishing discs to dry sand the car then they are best , they do a better job with trizact too as they are a lot finer and so sand a lot finer leaving a better finish but for trizact there's not a massive difference tbh

      +Mark Gillingham hey mate and yeah the booths big tbh plenty of room I could have set the doors up at the back of the car tbh if I'd thought about it better , the guns decent for the money yeah il see how she lasts but for £30 cudnt fault how it threw the high build down nice and wet , 8 meters long yeah think the cabin internally is 7 meters

    • @TonysRefinishingTV

      +Burhaan Momin hi the main thing first is maintaining your compressor properly , draining the tank and water from it daily , also adding an inline filter / regulator to the airline to make sure any unwanted moisture is removed will massively help , il be doing a compressor video soon and il include the regulator ect in the video so you can see what setup I use

    Hi. Maybe u can help me. Im using the same primer. But i cant spray it with a tip lower than 2.5mm.
    If i sprayed it with a 2mm tip, i must tin up to 40%!
    Bougt the same ani gun as u, with a 2.5mm tip. Its the only way i can spray it ( with 10%thinners)
    What am i doing wrong? Im steering my primer before i put it in the cup, shake my hardener.
    The right amounts 4/1+ 10%.thinners.
    Paper filther, 2 bar or 3 bar.
    Its al chuncks ...

    • @bosshawg7427

      @@TonysRefinishingTV did I misunderstand? In hindsight, I guess you did review already. The F1/NS is the primer gun you used in this video which you said you would get back to it later on. I tried to find that video, but perhaps it didn't happen. I have the Super version of that gun for primer which is why I asked as there seems to be little to no reviews of either gun, but I do have the FLG5 for base and clear. Sorry for the confusion.

    Another good vid mate, great to see cheers. I'm restoring an old Jag and it has been repainted in the early 80's in cellulose. It has a bare minimum of rust bubbles and the primer they used was the old decent stuff that buggered the planet but actually protected the car. Now I don't really want to go to bare metal as this stuff has lasted perfectly for 30 odd years. I have loads of time to wait after I do each coat on it's repaint so I can see if there's any shrink or reaction. Am I doing a good job by prepping this existing surface thoroughly and repainting the car with 2k? It's no rush job so as I say I can wait to see if there's any reactions. What do ya reckon?

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  8 лет назад +1

      +Barry Jones hi Barry , tough one to call without seeing the car or pictures of I'm honest but , if you did something similar to what I've done here to make sure all the old paint is sealed in and then have the ability to leave it to fully air cure for a good amount of time then tbh you should be ok , but you would have to really make sure it fully cures through and also make sure when it comes time to paint that the whole surface is sealed with primer

WAVING A TUBE OF SILICONE oil pan sealant looool - so on the last coat the car is shining ( very rare Focus T250) and what do i do in the next room? Start cleaning my plastic bits with Auto Glym silicone based plastic cleaner or vinyl and rubber care - FISH EYES EVERYWHERE.......
