EASY FIX - - On those budget guns, the lids normally stick as the plastic swells and shrinks with the thinners, an easy fix is to pop lid off, and give the threads on the actual pot a quick sanding around take off half a mill all round... Be as good if not better than new 👌😉
Hi Tony, again thanks for your help with our little chat a few days back, I got the gun used here in the 2.0 and had no problems laying a good wet coat of high build primer, just 3 coats and the job was done. As you say not the best gun but for the price it does a good job. Used it for the first time today, thanks mate 👍
Absolutely love your vids, I’m in the process of stripping my old classic car to bare metal, and watching your vids is helping a novice out. Keep up the good work Tone.
Thanks so much Tony... look forward to the compressor setup vid. Awesome videos mate. I have learnt a lot from watching and have applied in my own projects. Thanks
Excellent mate thanks for that. I end up with weeks in between time spent on the car so the paint has loads of time to shrink and settle. It would be a pity to bugger up the rust protection that has lasted so long just to say it was bare metal resprayed. Cheers man. Keep em coming. You're the UK Gunman for sure. 👍🏻
This has answered quite a few questions that have been bothering me.....especially the primer gun and sealing in the old paint. I'm working on a vw T4, first welding job (panels and arches) gone really well. My main concern is the spray booth !!
@@TonysRefinishingTV I work doing wood finishing staining woods and spray a lot of 2k wood lacquer, never planed this career, wish I had done automotive.

I repainted my Honda Civic MK8 with my neighbour and we used HB Body 2K High Build primer, we got some really bad shrink back on it. Once we put the base coat and intercoat down, it all looked good. Once we hit it with the clear (we used Millaco 2K HS clear), the shrink back was very noticeable and was a bit of a bummer. Its my daily though so I didn't mind it. I'm currently restoring a 2002 Celica and am using 1K products this time purely because my wife has asthma and at the time I did the civic, I didn't know of the dangers associated with 2K. Put some new skirts on it and a new front bumper, which need priming and this video had been very helpful so far. Thanks for showing us your experience and the way to hit the car with primer. The old girl is looking great, even in just naked primer 😀
Cheers mate. Here's one... Do I really need a one of the short throw DA's for the 3000 trizact stage or are the normal air DA's we use for bodywork OK? Hope ya don't mind all the the questions, I don"t want to balls this up.
+Barry Jones I'm not using a 2.5mm orbit for trizact mate and have no issues , however if you were using the 3m dry microfinishing discs to dry sand the car then they are best , they do a better job with trizact too as they are a lot finer and so sand a lot finer leaving a better finish but for trizact there's not a massive difference tbh
Just subscribed, brilliant content. Would this budget gun be suitable for paint also? If not, what would you recommend? I currently have a T4 needing paint so I'm looking for something on a budget that will do a decent DIY job. Thanks in advance.

Awesome job! What would you say the best 2k primer you've used? Looking for a high quality primer for my e30 BMW I'll be prepping soon and I respect your recommendations after buying an FLG5 after watching your videos
I’ve just on three coats of high build primer but when doing my final sanding there are a couple of very small areas that I burned through to metal. For example at the edge of a panel. Do I need to cover those tiny spots with something before I paint it with single stage urethane?
+STIPOWER97 hi mate yes you could get a great finish no matter where you paint but dirt and contaminates landing in it will be a massive issue , however I Wudnt recommend it from a health and safety aspect the fumes and compounds you would be using are harmful both to yourself and people around as well as the environment
Hey hey its primer time for the Rs I see mate 😊 be nice to see it when finished, booth didn't look too small for the job, didn't you say that booth was 8 metres long? my mates booth I been painting cars in is just 4x6 metres and thats a struggle at times with some vehicles, nice gun for the money 👍

Another good vid mate, great to see cheers. I'm restoring an old Jag and it has been repainted in the early 80's in cellulose.
