I’m surprised you didn’t compare Luna to the she-wolf that raised Romulus and Remus in Roman Mythology. Especially since Luna had twin boys. That was an obvious connection to me🤷🏽♂️
You can also combine Lorcan and Lysander together to get Lorsander which sounds like floorsander... thus confirming that Luna secretly works at Home Depot.
If I was going to point fingers at the other possible Maledictus it would be Mrs. Norris not Luna. Cat seems to be unusually smart, living an unusually long life considering she's lived through all 7 years of Harry's schooling, plus years before that, at least 2 years since Fred and George used the map to avoid her, that's 9 confirmed years, now cats can live commonly up to 16 years but at 9 she should be showing some form of aging if she is just a cat. Not to mention Filch seems unusually attached to the cat, as if he knew her when she was human.
Heres another detail: Luna's patronus in a *HARE* which is a lot like a rabbit, wolfs sometimes hunt rabbits so in "real life" rabbits run away from wolves. This could be symbolic to the way she is running away from the wolf that is inside her blood.
Filches cat is one of those too probably. I mean think about it, 1 she’s a female 2 she’s just a normal straight up cat 3 she’s really smart(like as smart as a person??) 4 if maybe she’s used to be his wife or something that would explain why he’s so protective of her and is so close to her This is all I could think of but I think I may be on to something Ps. This sounds like someone may have come up with this already (because it’s pretty obvious) but I’m not aware of anyone that has said so sorry if I stole someone’s idea
infinite space?? Maybe but the point about him being so close to her is sort of weak in my opinion. I mean my cat isn’t a malidictus but I’m as bad as filch if someone is even bothering her hahaha. (Jk jk) but in all seriousness I’m actually convinced she’s one too.
Filch’s wife? It would explain why he’s so attached to her and make him being such a terrible person much more tragic if he has depression. Plus if anyone figures out a post-curse cure, Hogwarts would be a pretty convenient place to be with the powerful wizard/witch teachers and all. Also who names their cat Mrs. anything, she very well could have been an actual human Mrs.
Oh my gosh I love this. That would explain how Mrs. Norris seems so human like, and has such a connection to Filch. Also, I always thought it was weird that a Basilisk would try to petrify a cat, but it would make more sense if that “cat” was a half-blood witch
What about Mrs. Norris? She is a cat that is depicted as being very smart and cunning. Almost human like. She is loved by Filch...like maybe a previous lover. It would explain why he hate magic users; some witch or wizard cursed his loved one to be doomed to become a cat. It would be an interesting backstory to these peripheral characters.
The more I think about it, the more sense it makes that Mrs. Norris is a Maladictus. She can be seen on the Marauder's Map, which I find strange, as there are likely many cats and familiars on campus yet she is the only one noted on it?
Karl Rovey I don’t recall either Remus or Sirius saying there was a caretaker before Filch. I might be wrong, if you remember a quote or scene please send it in. Prof. McGonagall told Filch that he has been complaining about Peeves for a quarter of a century during the battle of Hogwarts, which took place in 1998. James , Lily and the rest of the marauders were born in 1960 which means they started Hogwarts at 1971. We now know that Filch has been at Hogwarts since at least 1975, I believe he came earlier than that. It took a few years for the marauders to develop the map, let’s say three years, and we are already in 1974, at their fourth year, they probably didn’t get caught until a little later on. So yeah I think it’s safe to say that Filch was the caretaker during James and Sirius’ time at Hogwarts.
Also Luna's patronus is a hare. "Grey wolves hunt mostly large, hoofed animals including different kinds of deer, mountain goats, moose, elk, and bison. They will also hunt hares, beavers, birds and fish. " HARES. And that can mean she as a hare is running away of a wolf or more like becoming a wolf.
Alright, just to point out, your patronus can actually become different depending on your life experiences (mainly just confirmed through falling in love)z Just take Tonks’s patronus which changed from a Jack Rabbit to a Wolf due to her love of Remus. Snape’s patronus was a doe due to his love for Lily. Then take into account that Harry’s patronus was a Stag as well although he never had a different one. Perhaps his was naturally a stag due to his resemblance to some of his father’s better traits or perhaps learning about him made him happy. Just putting that out there.
my only problem with this theory is that I don't see any convincing evidence that actually supports that Luna IS a maledictus. Whilst there is evidence to suggest that if she WERE a maledictus she would be a wolf, there just isn't anything to suggest she is one in the first place. Other than the assumption that J.K. Rowling was hinting at a pre-existing maledictus. Not saying that Luna ISN'T a maledictus. Just saying there isn't much to go on. I personally like the theory floating lower down the comments section that Ms. Norris is actually a maledictus. Despite J.K. Rowling saying that Ms. Norris is "just a cat". It wouldn't really disprove anything, would it? Because she would still be a cat, just she wasn't always a cat. And it does also explain why Filch cares so much for Ms. Norris if she were his wife or lover that tragically became a maledictus.
I agree. We know a lot about Luna, and yet have never heard of her transforming into an animal. I mean a blood curse is a pretty big aspect of a character, you know? All the evidence can also point to pretty standard things. Like the things most people thought before this theory. It’s a cool idea though and It might be right. Personally, I’m not convinced but it’s worth paying attention to. Maybe more information will be released that points to an answer, or maybe J.K. will come right out and tell us.
Nerd Storm Malidictuses (I don't know if that is the correct plural) don't have control over the transformation, and I don't think anything has been said about them showing any symptoms either.
Astoria Malfoy could also be a maledictus as in Harry Potter and the cursed child Draco tells harry that"Astoria was frail. She had a blood maledictiin a serious one. An ancestor in her family was cursed...it showed up in her. It could resurface after many generations." Think about it....She was probably close to being an maledictus but was even more weakened after giving birth to scorpious and ultimately died. She even said that she knew she wasn't destined for old age.
I dunno because she got really sick and frail..I thought u just turned and couldn't turn back. Or does it happen slowly? Like your human body slowly dies? Hm. And if there is another maledictius that's not Luna it's gotta be mrs norris right?
Shauna Hoffman ya I guess mrs Norris could be a maledictus.....I just thought after blood contamination it was Astoria......Astoria could have been a maledictus but maybe after the birth of scorpious she could have gotten weakened and died or maybe she turned into a maledictus but Draco didn't want to tell scorpius because he was still young and instead told him she died?
Pandora's Box is actually a way nicer story than just someone releasing all evil. 🙈 So a box was given to a girl named Pandora. She was told to never ever open the box but as we all know, what happens when we are told to not do something? We do it. So Pandora opened the box for just a second and all evil was released before she could close it but there was one thing left in the box, which was hope. So she decided to open the box again and release hope so that we in this cruel world will always habe something to hold onto. That being hope. 😊😅
We’ll just breeze past the fact that one of her sons has a name that means liberator... it’s “not to incriminating.” Except his name means liberator because they are boys, so did not inherit the curse and with Luna dies the curse so the family has been liberated! It’s the perfect name for your theory, particularly if Lysander is the younger brother.
Ally Bohn That's what I want to believe too but Lysander means the one that liberates men(=soldiers in ancient greek context) in specific, not everyone -from the verb "lyo"=reliese and the word "anir" that means man ( "andres" in the plural -Lysandros...) :/ 🤔 Luna's son may have won some battle and set free his comrades, as the real Lysandros did (?) Off course his comrades today would be both women and men.I am inclined to believe that all Rowling wanted to say was that he would become a succesful auror, his battle win setting free the wizarding world the same way Lysander's one liberated Spartans from Athenians (but who is Athens in this case?...)
Rhombicosidodecahedron they weren’t born at the same moment though, one of them is the younger brother. Luna strikes me as the type of mom to wait to find out if she was having boys girls or one of each anyways.
Ally Bohn yeah okay I guess. She would definitely wait to see the gender. She probably wouldn't even know if she was having twins. Do witches see OB/GYNs? Do they go to hospitals or use midwives? Why have I never thought about this before?
Another clue: Romulus and Remus from Roman mythology are boy twins, just like Luna’s sons, and they were raised by the female wolf ‘Lupa Capitolina’. Mmmm lupa/luna and both twins raised by a wolf.....
Let's be fair to Nagini, she teamed up with Voldemort, most likely because he was the only person she could communicate with since he was a parseltongue. Kinda tragic.
I don't think it's been explicitly confirmed, but it's a skill that's pretty rare. I think there are only one or two noted exceptions that aren't descendants of Slytherin. So I'm gonna guess that chances of her finding someone else were probably slim; and I'm sure Voldemort sought her out.
More human in animal body (OK I leave) For the maledictus that are bird that pass but snake you are really annoyed you need heat and you don T have limbs And what specie of snake is this Nagini (south east of asia big snake) A python But color à the magic cursed venom are not the one of à python So we have a new magical creature the jade python who can live 100 years and that have cursed venom
I think if Nagini is the same nagini we see with voldy, I think it is because her love died and she swore to never love again. As a snake she hid herself away. And When voldy found her he charmed her like everyone else he has. Not to mention, the whole paselmouth thing would be really surprising. She would see creedence in voldy as they both are orphans, both were killed by those saying they were good before, and both are surrounded by darkness. And Nagini being a malidictious would also make more logical sense since if she was a witch turned snake she could have magic still and that would explain how she did all the things she did.
That would be amazing. I feel like Luna would love being a wolf, so is that even a curse at this point? 😂 Unless they have no memory of their past selves, of course.

the 2nd maledictus known in the HP universe is Astoria Malfoy. We were capable of having children, but Astoria was frail. A blood malediction, a serious one. An ancestor was cursed... it showed up in her. You know how these things can resurface after generations...DRACO MALFOY
Trinity Rose if it was passed down genetically then since males would have one of her X chromosomes and less genetic material causing him to be more likely to show the genetic disorder than females if it is to be genetic logically and biologically speaking they should be both it makes no sense mother to daughter only is almost impossible since these realities and ours are supposed to live in the same dimension
This is so off topic I don’t know why I’m commenting, but: my and one of my friends were talking about the trailer. And we got to thinking: Parsletongue. Tom Riddle *controlled* the Basilisk, did he not? Only parsletounges can do that, hence why it’s ‘heir of Slytherin.’ Before that, it stayed in its chamber. Until it was *told* to do something else. So, parsletounges can talk to snakes, but they *control* them as well, correct? What if Nagini isn’t evil? What if Voldemort’s just controlling her to do the things she does?
Emii Nagini was once human, a Witch, so Tom Riddle a.k.a. Voldemort wouldn't be able yo control her merely through parseltongue. He'd have to use something like the CRUSIOTUS curse on her; which we've never seen him do to Nagini. Although being a living horcrux did seem to have an effect on Harry, eventually; so maybe that's why she does his bidding.
Tom was able to control the basilisk because the basilisk was raised to obey parstletongue speakers. Rather than forceful hypnosis it seemed more like obedience.
I actually think there might me a love story here - Nagini, as a human, fell in love with Tom Riddle (when he had a nose and everything) and vice versa. This might explain why as Voldemort he loves his snake so much. Granted this would beg the question - is Tom Riddle able to love, and I think he was capable of it at some point. It would make an interesting back story, don't ya think?
Yeah, but the one Hera gave wasn't much of a gift, at least in retrospect.... Edit...for the curious , it was just that. Hera gave her Insatiable Curiosity. Who does that? Hera, Queen of the Gods, Patron of married Women, all women in fact. She would blame it on Zeus telling Her to do it, surely, but She went along with it, so its real gray area metaphysics at that piont...
@@LucianCorrvinus Well, Hera isn’t the best Queen. All those spiteful curses on Zeus’s Lovers. Tossing Hephaestus away because he was too ugly for her “perfect” family, etc.
sorry, but neville talking about liking Luna during the battle of Hogwarts only happens in the movies. Luna and neville really aren't compatible. Neville ends up marries Hannah Abbott instead.
Probably true. J. K. Is traditionally incredibly literal with her names, what with Sirius “Black Dog” Black and Remus “Werewolf McWerewolf the Second” Lupin
Gerald Bieniek True, but considering the “wolfy” connotations of her family, it can’t be ruled out. Or this could all just be an elaborate “Wolves howling at the moon” joke
Potter- -Tato why would she have named a supporting character introduced in the fifth book before the mother of the main character introduced in the first book....
No, Miss Moon was mentioned in Philosopher's Stone at the Sorting Hat ceremony. We never got to know her first name but some say it could have been Lily.
BAMCIS13450703 because one of the first things she did was create a database of named hogwarts wizards. Including 40 named characters in Harry’s year who she called “the original 40”
@@alexandrakimbink3198 if that's the case miss moon couldn't be an earlier version of luna because luna is one year below the golden trio and the same age as ginny... she didn't come to hogwarts until chamber of secrets.
First of all your opening supposition ignores Lavender Brown, Pansy Parkinson, Alicia Spinnet, Katie Bell, Angelina Johnson, Cho Shang, Susan Bones, Pamda and Parvati Patil. Secondly, for all the wolf imagery with Luna, I still think she would be a Crumplehorned Snorkax.
Also, we are assuming that Nagini is the only animal that used to be a human. Are there no other animals that seem to have above average intelligence and an odd relationship with a human?..... I'm looking at you Mrs. Norris.
Well there is another cat that has not been mentioned. I wonder if Hermione's cat Crookshanks could of been one too. Since Crookshanks was clever and smart enough to know Scabbers was not a true rat.
I think Draco Malfoy’s wife is a maledictus because Draco said “ she knew she was never destined for old age” and he never told anyone what the condition she had was!! I think that she still is alive but as an animal!!
Could you not also make a link to them being twin brothers whose names may somewhat link to Remus (unfortunately already used in the HP series) and Romulus, the twin brothers who start the legends of Rome ... and are almost always depicted as nursing from a wolf?
I think it’s possible, REMEBER Lana said she sleep walks sometimes and looses track of time. Maybe Bc she unintentionally transformed into her wolf for Mk whilst sleeping?🤷🏽♀️
I always thought Mrs.Norris , used to be human ... I always imagined her and Filch growing up together and she was very good at magic and he wasn't , but made him better . They were childhood sweethearts , but she liked to experiment with magic and tried to make herself an animagus when in school , but it went wrong and was stuck as a cat .. Without her, Filch couldn't do magic well anymore, until eventually he coulndn't and eventually both of them became bitter towards all this kids at hogwarts ... but maybe she was Maledictus .
A ‘Maledictus’ is a carrier of a blood curse which will ultimately destine them to transform permanently into a beast. I don't think you can give yourself that curse.....
But was Nagini evil because she served Voldermort, or did she serve Voldermort because he was the only human she could talk to? If I suddenly became an animal, but I still remembered being human, it would be horrible losing my ability to speak to other people. Voldermort had the ability to talk to snakes, so he'd be able to talk to and understand Nagini.
@Hridhaya Prabhakaran She could presumably talk to Harry, but Harry was Voldermort's enemy and thus her enemy. I'm wondering if she started out evil, or if she became evil through her association with Voldermort.
Also, just having to live life as a snake means that your very survival depends on killing things, so after a handful of decades that would blur the lines of whatever is left of your human sense of morality.
@@jameshill2450 Killing living things is not, on it's own, immoral. Rather it is the reason for killing that dictates its morality. Living as a human requires you to kill things to survive. Living as *ANYTHING* really, requires you to kill things, either in defense or as sustenance. As a human, even a vegan has to kill to survive. They have to kill plants, and plants are living things with no less right to survive than any animal. Where do you draw the line? If killing living this is immoral, then killing any living thing is immoral. Any line you draw between one "level" and another is arbitrary. And that is only for food. A vegan will still kill animals to survive. If say, an animal attacks them, they may have to kill it to save themselves. The existence of predators in an ecosystem is actually good for the prey animals as a whole. The predators keep the population in check, insuring that defective genes are bred out of the species and beneficial genes survive. We have seen, over and over, when predatory animals are removed from an ecosystem disaster results. Predators are scary, sure. You would not want to encounter one if you have no escape, but they are in no way evil or bad
@@erictaylor5462 Yeah, that's the point. Everyone who says those things, and even believes that they're all true, will still react to killing as an inherently "bad" thing. People go entirely vegan specifically because of that feeling. People might intellectually know that, but will still instinctually believe that it's bad and react to someone who lives that way accordingly. Thus someone who is forced to live that way for decades, and knows how people view them simply for doing what they must to survive, would inevitably come to the conclusion that all of human morality must be just as arbitrary and emotional.
@@jameshill2450 I do not personally see death as a bad thing. Death is not bad or good. Death is simply a fundamental part of life. Where you get into the morality of predation, I think, is when it comes to suffering. If you have ever seen the process of predation, it can be quite traumatizing. There is the terror of being chased by something, knowing you are not able to outrun it. The feeling of claws tearing into your backside, throwing you off balance. Falling, before you have the chance to regain your feet something is on top of you, squeezing your throat shut. You try too call out for help, but there is no sound because there is no air. There is nothing you can do. You know you are dying, then as the world slowly goes dark around you everything ends. This is the end seen by the vast majority of living things on this planet. At least those things advanced enough to have anything close to what we might call perception. And that is probably the easiest end you can expect. The one thing we know for sure is we are going to die. Our existence will come to an end. The thing is, we already know what it's like to not exist. We did it for billions of years before we were born. From what I remember, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't boring at least.
Ok i'm not sure I'm on board with this but i did just watched the 5th movie and Luna says to Harry that she sleepwalks. Now i always took it as a silly Luna quirk but what if she just blacks out when she turns into an animal and doesn't 100% remember what she does in that state and has been taught to interpret it as sleepwalking...like we still don't know how a Maladictus's minds works when they are an animal ... is it like a warewolf where they have no control or like an Animagus - human mind in an animal's body.
If an individual is a Maledictus they can never go back being human once they transformed into an animal. So Luna's sleepwalking is just pure sleepwalking.
She can at the beginning of the movie at least- and it seems to be part of her circus act, but she is destined to *eventually* be permanently stuck in her snake form
but its not confirm yet by rowling if her version of maledictus is the same as the maledictus you talking about. and base on the trailer, it show that nagini is a circus performer so theres an indication that she can change into a snake whenever she want, and one day she stuck in the snake form because of some other reason and became voldemort ally.
I don't think so... All the owls in the Harry Potter series seem to be just as intelligent as each other. And owls are known to be extremely intelligent in reality as well hence "as wise as an owl". Owls were also the symbol for Athena too.
@@JamesJL I know this is an old comment but owls are actually remarkably dumb in real life. I'm not sure why they have always been associated with intellect and wisdom throughout human history.
I'm still calling that not being Voldy's nagini. Nagini will be a family/title for the curse. it'll be her and credences' kid. Who will grow up with Voldy at Hogwarts because Newt will make Dumbledoor promise to give her a real lief.. because he will fail to save Credenceand or nagini and feel guilty.
@@andreagriffiths3512 you can't know that for sure. They never specifically mention Daphne too often to know if she was cursed too, especially since she is not necessary to the plot. And since J.K only knows how it works, malediction might not be passed to every female heir. She simply stated it's passed down from mother to daughter, but never specifically said all daughters would be cursed. That could explain why Astoria got it but Daphne might not have and why it seemed to skip generations.
2 years ago a hardcore potter fan, who has a livecraftian dark side view, she was sharing ideas.. she had puzzled over those odd details in Order of the Phoenix. such as... .. WHY would a brilliant & capable witch (Pandora) who "liked to experiment" perform such an obviously dangerous advanced potion making process; in the presence of her young daughter? and in both Order of the Phoenix movie & novel (I think), Luna describes her mother's accident as "really quite horrible!". obviously ANY child losing a parent in an accident is horrible. yet somehow, those words hinted to my friend, maybe those imply an event much scarier than we might assume. Perhaps Pandora was doing the potion for herself as she was running out of time. So she riskee experimenting on herself to find a cure for Luna. Could her anti-malidictus experimental potion, have not only proved to be toxic but triggered a sort of corrupted, mutation transformation turning Pandora into something nightmarish (think of the final stages of the astronaut 's transformation in the Quatermass Experiment). everyone laughs at Luna and her father, seeing them only as two very bright, goid but hopelessly out in left-field eccentrics. but what if Xenophilias & Luna had watched her mother's potion react badly to the curse, causing her last moments to be as something so horrible, thst both father and daughter's minds snapped a little that day!.
I exploded when i heard the word Nagini in the trailer cus you theory was confirmed. And like Seamus with Nicholas Famel you predicted so far in advance. December last year you predicted. It is now September. Also this is a lovely theory. Luna always struck me as being very mysterious person. Also i feel she may have been acutely aware of something being wrong with her cus she says that she sleep walks a lot. I know that doesnt mean you guys are correct but the way i see it Luna is still young in Harry Potter. She is a teenager. Maybe it is a slow burner curse that over time ypu get more more animalistic but it starts off small. Cus of the association of wolves with the moon and night time and her name meaning moon what if Luna sleep walking is part of the curse. She is the only character stated to sleep walk. The sleep walking is an early manifestation of the curse that will get worse as she reaches adulthood. I remember in the book she is in Ginnys year so she is younger than the main trio so she is still quite young when we meet her. I think she pops up as a non major character and is named in Goblet of Fire so on thay book she would be around 13 which is still young. This just fits really well. Claudia Kim is a fully grown looks to be 20 something year old adult hence why she transforms fully but it could be a slow burner curse that progresses with age. And considering the fact that one day the person will transform and can never go back maybe it happens when you hit a certain age. Like if it is the same Nagini then by the time it is the main Harry Potter series she sould be old cus like i said Claudia Kim looks to be in her early to mid 20s. Maybe when you hit a certain age like maybe 40 or something thats when you transform and cant go back. Just my theory.
Eehhh, I really want to believe this theory, because I'd love to know more about Luna and her mum, but I'm just not sure. If anything this video has me thinking its more likely that Rolf Scamander is a werewolf. Firstly, Luna's name meaning moon and her husband and sons names referencing wolves doesn't quite fit with Luna being a wolf, as like in that image you used, the moon is almost always with wolves, but the moon itself isn't a wolf. And with the kids names, it seems to me more likely a couple would name their kids like that if their magizoologist father is sometimes a wolf, rather than if one day they will tragically lose their mother when she becomes one. And its pretty easy to imagine plenty of ways a magizoologist can become a werewolf. And Xenophilius and Pandoras names are pretty cool and I would love them to reference something, it seems a bit vague to me, and like they could be referencing a whole number of things.
Well, I mean every other character named Wolf is a werewolf or related to one, so why not? I mean Lupin’s name might as well have been Wolfy McWerewolf Jr. due to his father’s first name also meaning Wolf.
Thanks, but I can’t take credit for the joke, I saw it on a tumblr post once. I just have to agree with that being the essence of his name because Remus is the name of a character from roman mythology who was raised by wolves, Lupin means wolf, and Remus’s dad was named Lyall, also meaning wolf. There’s so much wolf in their family, I’m surprised Remus was the first to become one.
We also don't know where crookshanks came from. Yeah I know your theory about the potters cat but she lived way longer than a normal cat and was way more intelligent.
+Sylvia Lupiden Also that he still could pull it off, I mean yes Make-Up and actor but occassionally they do age as well, but the fact they made him so like in the last movie he appeared as young Grindelwald I was almost more hyped about that than Nagini :D
I hate trailers. It could have been a great reveal of Nagini being that woman. BUT IT WAS IN THE TRAILER!! This completely ruins the entire reveal! And I bet they try to make it surprising.
AceWire802 why watch the trailer then? My mom is of the same opinion so she doesn't watch trailers at all, and really goes out of her way to avoid trailers of movies she really wants to see, like this one. I for one get excited and hyped by these, everyone has a right to a different opinion but you had the option of simply not watching it...
Love that theory :D And to back it up even a little more, the fact that Luna got twin boys might also refer to the mythological Romulus and Remus fed by a roman she-wolf.
Language nerd speaking: if it only affects women, why is it called "maledictus"? Shouldn't it be "maledicta"? ;) PS I'm not some Latin connoisseur, just a native speaker of a Romance language.
+mirceagogonecea Mhm you could be on to something, maybe the first was indeed a mle but forgotten and from then on it were females so people will be shockedif it is a male again, but I doubt it. I think our brains are loaded enought with everyone introduced now ^^ But also "el problema" :D So maybe some things just sound better ...
Me after seeing the thumbnail: "Luna is a wolf... well, yes, that makes sense! And Harry is a rabbit and Hagrid is a rhinoceros and Petunia is a koala and Snape is a platypus!"😂 (I'm just kidding, after watching this video, it does make sense)
But this entire theory relys on names... Names are names, and in wizard famiys names were often single-themed. Like Black family - all stars. And Xenophilus - i think his parents didn't give him this name with thought "he will clearly marry some maledictus". And xeno could be as well be attached to quirky behaviours of Luna's mom.
ravenclaw girls the same age might (because they share a dormitory) but no characters we know fit that description... the only other girl ravencalw is cho chang who is at least one year older than luna and therefore not in her dormitory.
Imagine a bunny maledictus werewolf being taken in as your pet and then on the night of the full moon you watch as your cute cuddly bunny turns into a werewolf
A maledictus of any other animal than a Wolf would just change into a Wolf on the full moon, not a werewolf as that's be a halfassed return to being human. A wolf maledictuswouldn't notice any change. A maledictus who hasn't turned into an animal permanently yet would probably seem like a 'regular' werewolf until after their permanent curse-change took effect.
I assume that before their curse 'activated' or whatever they'd be a normal werewolf, but afterwards the maledictus curse overrides lycanthropy. That said, already having a blood curse could potentially make them immune to werewolf bites
Also about the Pandora’s box thing “Pandora’s box Releasing all the evils into the world” and the grim is considered very evil and it represents a wolf 🐺
Lycan, or Lycaon was a Greek King who was turned into a wolf by Zeus for being a cannibal but also for killing his youngest son, turning him into a stew and fed it to his other 8 sons, Apollo, and Zeus
But what if you were a maledictus who was an animagus? Because when you became an animal permanently, would you still be able to change into your animal? And what if you were a werewolf animagus maledictus? Would you still be able to turn into a werewolf?
LongShot501 Minecraft and More hmmm that is true the thing is... just because your an animagus with one animal doesn’t mean that if you are a maledictus that you will turn into your animagus animal permenatly it could be a completely different one.although if it was the same one it would be permeate probably 😊.
The curse gets you stuck as an animal permanently so I don’t think you would be able to change into anything once it is done with you. That’s the point.
*sees thumbnail and title* Me: maybe this is because of her name, maybe because of the word “Luna”. Ummm guys I didn't watch the video yet but this is just my guess I'm gonna watch it now. Edit: I knew it! NAMES.
What was your favorite part of the new trailer?!
Everything
Everything, everything was the best part
Can I say all of it? If not, then probably the Nagini reveal and the end with Newt and Theseus. This is a super great video, one of my favorites.

The entire trailer man! Ot was great!
I’m surprised you didn’t compare Luna to the she-wolf that raised Romulus and Remus in Roman Mythology. Especially since Luna had twin boys. That was an obvious connection to me🤷🏽♂️

And JK Rowling did study mythology so that was a surprise that he didn't put it in

Yeah thought so too!
That was Lupa though

TnT FoX makes a lot of sense.
I like this theory a lot more than the one that Mrs. Norris is a Kneazle.
I’ve had a theory for a while that Mrs. Norris was close to Filtch and got turned into a cat, but I hadn’t put two and two together yet and SHHJFVRVL
TnT FoX j and Ben need to see this
I looooove this theory!!!!!!!
What if Luna was cured by the spell that her mom was trying but their had to be a sacrifice so her mom sacrificed herself for Luna ?

Heres another detail: Luna's patronus in a *HARE* which is a lot like a rabbit, wolfs sometimes hunt rabbits so in "real life" rabbits run away from wolves. This could be symbolic to the way she is running away from the wolf that is inside her blood.
That is so clever
Ooooo
How do people come up with these?! LIKE SMART! I *PRAISE* *YOU* 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So her patronus works different than all others? No likely
Or that she is attracted to a hare, much like a wolf would be in the wild.
Filches cat is one of those too probably. I mean think about it,
1 she’s a female
2 she’s just a normal straight up cat
3 she’s really smart(like as smart as a person??)
4 if maybe she’s used to be his wife or something that would explain why he’s so protective of her and is so close to her
This is all I could think of but I think I may be on to something
Ps.
Even I got the same idea after watching this video
Jk Rowling said she is just an intelligent cat
MRS NORRIS OF CORSE but jkr already said she was just a normal cat when everyone was bugging her another kneazles
thats just if you think about when they change they become just a normal anmial
Dose anyone think that if there is another maledictiouse that if could be mrs.Norris? idk it just seems more likely than luna being a maledictiouse
Mrs Norris is just a cat
Yess!!!
I think that’s more likely than Luna being one.

It's a really good theory but sadly Jk Rowling has confirmed that Mrs Norris is just a normal cat.
It's heavily implied, at least it seemed to me, that Ms. Norris is part Kneazle, like Crookshanks, rather than a maledictus.
Not a terrible theory, but he hates the students because he's jealous that they are wizards while he's a Squib.

The more I think about it, the more sense it makes that Mrs. Norris is a Maladictus. She can be seen on the Marauder's Map, which I find strange, as there are likely many cats and familiars on campus yet she is the only one noted on it?
Except the Marauders had to deal with Filch's predecessor, not Filch.
I thought the marauders dealt with filch.. the weasley twins get the map out of filchs insane filing cabinet no?
Karl Rovey The marauders created the map while Filch was at Hogwarts.
@@tennisee10 I'm pretty sure there's a line in the Prisoner of Azkaban from Lupin or Sirius about the caretaker at the time and it wasn't Filch.

TheHalfBloodFangirl I just asked if she is then why isn’t her patronus a wolf but this makes a lot of sense! Good call
Alright, just to point out, your patronus can actually become different depending on your life experiences (mainly just confirmed through falling in love)z
Just take Tonks’s patronus which changed from a Jack Rabbit to a Wolf due to her love of Remus.
That was deep

There was a theory that Mrs Norris was part kneazle, but it was denied by JKR... I suppose a maledictus isn't too far a stretch...

Me, an intellectual: *_GOLF._*
You guys were right about
Nagini! Take a bow for excellent predicting skills!
my only problem with this theory is that I don't see any convincing evidence that actually supports that Luna IS a maledictus.
The True Upgrade I totally agree with you, just that no facts are against it doesn't mean it is likely that you for your comment
There's really no evidence about Ms. Norris either. You just chose to believe that instead. People just tend to stick with their opinions.
@@backonlazer791 mrs.norris showed up on the maruaders map
It could resurface after many generations."
Think about it....She was probably close to being an maledictus but was even more weakened after giving birth to scorpious and ultimately died.
She even said that she knew she wasn't destined for old age.
When does she give birth to scorpions?
Scorpius
Oh, this what I just posted. I didn’t know you already put this up here. I’m glad you did.
So a box was given to a girl named Pandora. 😊😅
I always felt bad for her. All the Ancient Greek guys blamed her even though she was created to open the box.
Ally Bohn That's what I want to believe too but Lysander means the one that liberates men(=soldiers in ancient greek context) in specific, not everyone -from the verb "lyo"=reliese and the word "anir" that means man ( "andres" in the plural -Lysandros...) :/ 🤔
Luna's son may have won some battle and set free his comrades, as the real Lysandros did (?)
Off course his comrades today would be both women and men.I am inclined to believe that all Rowling wanted to say was that he would become a succesful auror, his battle win setting free the wizarding world the same way Lysander's one liberated Spartans from Athenians (but who is Athens in this case?...)
Lorcan and Lysander are twins though...
Mmmm lupa/luna and both twins raised by a wolf.....
exactly! that's a very obvious connection to me
That's exactly that i thought he was gonna say but nope
Let's be fair to Nagini, she teamed up with Voldemort, most likely because he was the only person she could communicate with since he was a parseltongue. Kinda tragic.
@\o/ Hexenwahn \o/ But didnt he always speak to her in english?
It was Parseltongue. The books/films are from Harry's point of view, and he could speak Parseltongue as well, so he heard it as English.
Was it ever confirmed that Voldemort and Harry were the only two parselmouths alive/in the country at that point?
I think there are several "tragic" relationships in Rowling's world - people without much chance to become something else..
I don't think it's been explicitly confirmed, but it's a skill that's pretty rare. I think there are only one or two noted exceptions that aren't descendants of Slytherin. So I'm gonna guess that chances of her finding someone else were probably slim; and I'm sure Voldemort sought her out.
I feel so bad for Nagini. Imagine being an animal with a humans mind. . .
There is a video out there that uses your statement to explain why she came to work with Tom Riddle
You want to be sassy, but you can only hiss... that'd be a sad life.
That's why Nagini sided with Voldy. Voldy could communicate with her and because of the communication made her feel somewhat more human.

You know, I feel like if Luna became a wolf, she would kinda just hang around her family and become a family pet...😂
I wonder if they keep their personality and knowledge of their human life? Or totally become an animal, mind and all.

the 2nd maledictus known in the HP universe is Astoria Malfoy.
We were capable of having children, but Astoria was frail. A blood malediction, a serious one. An ancestor was cursed... it showed up in her. You know how these things can resurface after generations...DRACO MALFOY
That would require years on only males being born
Boys/ Men cant be maledictuses.
Lisa van Brug what did Astoria Malfoy turn into
BUT maledicti have to be female, check our their theory, Drack Malfoy is a Werewolf!
Judy McClenny you're just speculating, Judy. We don't know all the rules of the maledictus curse. Not by a long shot!
Tom was able to control the basilisk because the basilisk was raised to obey parstletongue speakers. Rather than forceful hypnosis it seemed more like obedience.
Aren't we all just speculating here?
I actually think there might me a love story here - Nagini, as a human, fell in love with Tom Riddle (when he had a nose and everything) and vice versa. This might explain why as Voldemort he loves his snake so much. Granted this would beg the question - is Tom Riddle able to love, and I think he was capable of it at some point. It would make an interesting back story, don't ya think?

I want a movie devoted to the tragic story of Ms. Norris gradually turning into a cat whilst Filch is completely powerless to save her.
OMG SAME
Jarrett Benning that’s well and good, but I’m pretty sure J.K had already confirmed she’s just a normal cat. I guess we could get a retcon.
I think the "shes just a cat" respons was in refrence to her being a... nibb... eh... the cat-like-creature

When I first watched the final trailer i yelled out: "THEY CALLED IT"
Literally me. I then told everyone around me & no one cared, but I knew the internet did.
Zohar Bowman no you didnt
Ok i'm not sure I'm on board with this but i did just watched the 5th movie and Luna says to Harry that she sleepwalks. Now i always took it as a silly Luna quirk but what if she just blacks out when she turns into an animal and doesn't 100% remember what she does in that state and has been taught to interpret it as sleepwalking...like we still don't know how a Maladictus's minds works when they are an animal ... is it like a warewolf where they have no control or like an Animagus - human mind in an animal's body.
If an individual is a Maledictus they can never go back being human once they transformed into an animal. So Luna's sleepwalking is just pure sleepwalking.
did jk rowling said that a maledictus cant go back being human?
+Hendra Yudhapratama if you search what is maledictus. It says will transform "permanently".
Could Hedwig be a maledictus because she seems to understand everything Harry says and seems to have similar emotions to a human
I don't think so... All the owls in the Harry Potter series seem to be just as intelligent as each other. And owls are known to be extremely intelligent in reality as well hence "as wise as an owl". Owls were also the symbol for Athena too.
@Peri Uluırmak I mean she was a evil piece of poop that killed many humans before so idk,she seems like she deserved it at that point.
Yes maybe you are true because Voldy's Nagini is black and Claudia Kim is yellow
@@navyarayavarapu to be fair, we usually don't see Voldy's Nagini in proper light. I don't remember how she's described in the books though.

They called the Deluminator before the first trailer was released.
Man, I have been sitting here like WHERE IS MY SCB VIDEO TODAY?!
Draco’s wife astoria was a maledictous
I never think Luna could be a maledictous
It’s just too surprising
Yeah the curse is very rare to get as well. If it was more common, there would have been a cure for it a long time ago most likely.
Was looking to see if anyone would mention Astoria being a maledictous
Astoria’s sister did not have the blood curse and she would have if the blood curse was maledictus.
@FAIRIE Draco literally called it a malediction.
Good comment but I think Luna inherited crazy from her father
Just my theory.
please add a wall of text warning
And then there's the theory that the full moon makes people more crazy...If you get what I mean.
@@michaelbell4610 apologies. I got over excited.
I mean Lupin’s name might as well have been Wolfy McWerewolf Jr. due to his father’s first name also meaning Wolf.
exactly! Luna's name is hardly compelling evidence she is a wolf when you compare it to other names in the series
@@aqwkingchampion13 Lol wolfy McWerewolf Jr is the best name ever. Totally would of read something if that the first name in the book
There’s so much wolf in their family, I’m surprised Remus was the first to become one.
yes I recognised the joke and post. and wasn't Lupins mothers maiden name Howell even?
Well you gotta ask Newt when he was an old man to confirm ya know. Newt is Luna’s grandfather in-law

Another thing I'd like to point out is that "Luna" is the term used to describe a female alpha wolf.
[citation needed] ... Where did you find that?
Im gonna say it, my favorite part was when the original actor for Grindelwald was revealed! That was such a well kept secret!
+Sylvia Lupiden
Also that he still could pull it off, I mean yes Make-Up and actor but occassionally they do age as well, but the fact they made him so like in the last movie he appeared as young Grindelwald I was almost more hyped about that than Nagini :D
That one dislike is a salty Nagini, because she wants to be the only maledictus in the series.
I hate trailers. It could have been a great reveal of Nagini being that woman. BUT IT WAS IN THE TRAILER!! This completely ruins the entire reveal! And I bet they try to make it surprising.
AceWire802 jk Rowling has hinted that there’s a bigger shock coming in the film
AceWire802
Couldn't agree more.
Wat? I always thought Nagini was a she...
Gil Joshua Uy not being female, being a woman. as in the snake we know was once a person
Love that theory :D
And to back it up even a little more, the fact that Luna got twin boys might also refer to the mythological Romulus and Remus fed by a roman she-wolf.
My mom was like “I read this thing that said this girl from fantastic beasts is nagini!” I was like I know…duhhhhhhh
My mum doesn't know what Harry Potter is, she only knows that when it's on tv I won't move 😂😂

HE'S PERRY, PERRY THE PLATAPUSSSSS
I need platypus Snape... That would be funny af

The confirmation of the theory you guys made about Maledictus being Nagini!!
What if someone was a werewolf and a maledictus? Would they be an animal that turns into a wolf sometimes?
Close your eyes, let the wolves come near.
