I recently arranged a very good deal on a 2008 Kestrel TT bike , and I have just a few "test" miles on it. Haven't been fully on the extensions yet because we've had only very windy days, but I'll get brave enough soon. One small gripe for an otherwise fun video; we got only one real view of the bike, one that lasted for over five minutes. Perhaps a bit of B-roll for a visual tour of the thing?
interesting so positive is adjustment on TCR for position over time but its a great bike to get you into TT riding it will easy perform 20 min on a 10 mile TT that is half the field gone but in perspective sub 15 is standard....pro
its great that your testing retro bikes spending time with people namely the late Mike Burrows back in the 90s it was interesting to get his opinion on aesthetics vs aero dynamics for the most part your increased average speed is the only time that time you gain anything for aero dynamics essentially if your daily average on endurance is 200 mile plus factor x2 mountain stages Mikes words for Basque Country riding was "Its hilly for a Norfolk Boy" lol we digress...... But the TCR triple chain set will help ....
Alas form and function rule when it comes to TT bikes - very few pretty ones out there as they are just to go as fast as possible - yep, Primoz suffered in that 2021 TDF time trial, felt for him...
does anybody know why they never used the reverse brake levers back then like they do now? they did exist and I've always thought it odd they always used the drop bar type.
No idea why - the drop bar break levers have to be modified to fit as well! I tgink Diacompe made a dedicated lever back then that would have been better suited, Dan.
The pov section was cool, and what an excellent little bike.
Glad you like it - that view worked really well, Dan
Still is better looking than anything coming out now ❤
Thanks for the upload Richard your passion is obvious.
What a contrast between the cycling in blighty and France.
Hope the neck has recovered
New I should have taken the TCR to France for this one, Dan.
Blimey, you were brave taking on that stretch 😱.
Great video though 👍
Not my finest choice of route...

pop the TT bike on a turbo trainer and practice on the extentions first - helps a lot, Dan.
@@vintagevelos9517 I'm not so sure. You can't lose control on a trainer, and you know it.
@@rangersmith4652 Yep, but it helps to practice changing to both positions, Dan.
@@vintagevelos9517 I'll give it a go.
@@jbrtype8763 Probably - I like to shift position lots when riding to keep things fresh, Dan
I still ride my Giant Team ONCE tcr . All of that aero bar weight up front hanging on a 1 inch steerer.
Hmmm... hadn`t even thought of the pressure on the steerer... one more thing to worry about!
The Bexley 10 by brands hatch is good, can be found on fulgaz as well 👍
anythings better than 8 roundabouts and a stack of traffic...
@@vintagevelos9517 I'm entering Hell of the Ashdown , possibly on battaglin or trek 5500 , will you be doing it on a retro beauty ?
Don't you think that the welded strengthening fillets were added for aerodynamic reasons rather than for stiffness?
Yep, had thought about that, figured they would have done more around the steerer tube to do that, but its hard to say, Dan

Yep, seriously fast bike - let down by my choice of route... Dan

Looks scary to me. Are all TT bikes so heavy, so ugly? I remember Primoz looking like death after a TT, if it all goes wrong it must be hell.

How does the HED trispokes feel? What tire width are you using with those?
The Hed`s are really nice and buttery smooth - a little weighty but hold speed really well once up there - 22mm Veloflex Criterium tuburlars, Dan.

Is the 650c Giant?.
Wheels are 700c, Dan
