That's a brilliant tip! As you say, it keeps your beats or patterns so well organised and easily accessible. Many thanks for sharing and please keep up the great work you do.
Glad you liked the video! I've actually got quite a few fill sequencing videos on the channel, but I'll do some more in the future as well. Thanks for watching :)
Good one, Bro. Hey, just a quick heads up, you might want to check out a new little synth called the West Pest... if you haven't already. Looks dope. I think you'll dig it!😊
I will add my variation to the growing list of contributions: I will fill patterns 1-4 and program them in an ABACAD format where each A is played 3xs and the BCD are fills. Then move to row 2 and repeat as needed. Mostly the same result but with 4 patterns instead of 5. I like your system too. I will definitely try it out! Thanks for sparking conversation!
@@FreeBeat I will add 2 measures as a solo or a bridge/transition. I listen to a lot of John Carpenter and Hans Zimmer so odd phrasing doesn't bother me I guess.
Really nice tip! My patterns are scattered all over, so I need scraps of paper to remember where they're all at. Might need to do some reorganising! In a similar vein, just wondering if you have a particular way you connect POs together when you've got them synched up? Eg, I've got a tonic, KO & Speak. I normally hook them up in that order as it kinda makes sense to me to have the drums be the master, but maybe there's something you miss by doing that?
Glad you liked the tip! I don't really have any suggestions for syncing order, I usually have either the Arcade or the Speak as my masters because they have the most solid knobs (of the ones that I own) for dialing in the tempo lol. Thanks for watching :)
Just be careful, as vertical will limit you to only 3 fills per pattern, leaving you with a bit of an awkward 6 measures per phrase instead of 8. Thanks as always!
It really clicked with me and I will use this on my setups. But I will probably organize downward. So main pattern is 1 and the fill will be # 5, 9 and 13.
Without the fourth fill, unless you repeat one, it'll be an odd number of bars. You don't need four fills or 16 bars, but I think that's the thinking behind the horizontal organization.
@@RealSapHead Oh nice! Did not think of that as I know nothing about music and I love the POs because it is the easiest thing that has made me be able to make some kind of music. Learning a lot with these kind of videos and comments.
That will work too, but as RealSapHead said, you'll have a bit of an awkward phrasing situation on your hands. But that can be fun to try and work around if you're up for the challenge! Thanks for watching :)
Working on these little devices would totally drive me nuts, so I respect that you even have a way to organize your workflow on them!
Haha the workflow is honestly pretty fast and snappy, they're a lot of fun once you get the basics down! Thanks for watching :)
Yeah! A really good advise! Thx for sharing.. that makes those small buddies at least more handleable.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this superb video! I wish my brain could function as efficiently as yours!
Thanks so much!
Nice idea. On the fills i can really hear that you're a drummer 😁👍
Yeah, I find myself sequencing exactly how I like to play these days haha. Thanks as always :)

g00d tip! thx man, and thx 4 posting and trying every day!

This is awesome and super helpful, thanks Freebeat! Would love a video on how to make fills in the future, that's my cryptonite

Excellent tip.
Thanks so much!
I'm ordering the P.O. street fighter tomorrow....can't wait lol
Yes, this is going to help me organize patterns and fills for a song.
I hope you have a blast with it, thanks for watching!

Nice one Free Beat this is such a great tip for everyone and it was demonstrated perfectly 👍🏻
Thanks so much!

How do you get around the awkwardness of the whole phrase being 6 measures instead of 8? Thanks for watching!

Great tip FB. Probably vertical for me but I hadn*t considered structured methodologies. Cheers. Lee

@@FreeBeat great point well made my man 👨
I do this trick with my O.G. Circuit. 5 patterns to get 16 bars is the best.

This is only for the tonic ?
Nope, it'll work with any Pocket Operator with drums :)
