Thomas, I am enjoying your explanations and tips on how to use Ableton Live. I have used Tracktion/Waveform for many years, so I can see the value of all these timesaving features by listening to your videos. Thank you so much for doing this!
Was very helpful thanks! Working in Cubase and Studio One, Ableton is far from the same and get frustrated the way it works but wants to learn Ableton. Thanks.
This was an excellent tutorial. It answered all of the questions, and problems I was having with piano roll and much more, so Helpful! I played it twice so I could pause, and toggle between Ableton to try out some of the examples you gave which made it so much easier when applying them myself. Thanks again for taking the time to upload this.
Great tutorial! I'm a Live user since L5 and I learned a few new things even before taking L11 new features into account. Always pays to revisit the basics!
Really great video definitely makes me less mad about learning ableton coming from FL. I think resizing the notes before I click them in with the hot keys is the biggest time saver for me. I’ve been dragging them all to the size I want after drawing and for chords it was taking way too long to be fun. Thanks so much for this video
Very new to production, I just learnt so much in 20 mins watching this. Great content, I subscribed, I hit the like button the whole damn thing! Thanks for the tutorial, can't wait to watch more content. 🙌🏼
Another great video. I was following along fine and then fell into what I can only describe as an "envelope" trap with things like Linked and Unlinked regions. Not clear what they do or how to get out of them! Hopefully covered in later tutorial. It feels a bit like skiing and trying to follow an expert down a black run. Thomas makes it look easy but I'm still crashing off into the trees every so often.
I would like to know how to set adjustments back to default. Like changing the velocity on all notes, and then i want to put it back to default, how do i do that. except using cmd z (undo)
ruclips.net/video/HQ4cMRTT_EQ/видео.html. At 09:10 the random velocity doesnt work on my mac. I have tried using command, option and shift buttons. I have a lite version. Is it a limitation for the lite version?
Great video thanks. I have a question. Is there a short command in Ableton that allows to make all midi notes the same length? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Not really 😞 But u can use the Legato button or this feature: Ctrl + A to select all the notes, or select a note, and shift + click to add other notes to your selection, or click and drag a box around notes to select them. Then... Shift + Arrow Left to shorten note lengths Shift + Arrow Right to extend note lengths
thanks very much for this. I tried the last thing the expression individual note pitch change but it's not working. I draw the points and everything but it just ignores them. Do you know why this could be happening?
I think what you feel is not an error on hes part....The live midi editor is simply garbage if u ever experienced any other daw before... Impossible to make a video of it without also capturing the thick fog of terror it is so famous about ... So many days of my life have been about solely the psychological preparation to open live, then at the end not doing so, because of the picture of the piano roll poping in mind .... that grey void wants to eat up all the life in the universe.... the double clicks and missclicks after... the struggle to frucking get that note to proper lenght.... the underlying denial and ignorance manifesting in every midi clip you create... wondering why it is zoomed out to galactic level when the whole thing is empty yet, when u finnally manage to put some content into it, it is always gonna swap to a microscopic view, so you can yet again feel the hystorical aura of not being able to utilize your mouse scroll in both dimension, i guess a Pc is lacking keys for modifying input... Also if you wonder why does it feel like your eyes are getting extremly tired real quick... no it is not the 'vivid' and very 'intuitive' gui visuals.... you cant even make the useless 4-6 buttons on the left disappear. If u wanna see clip content, you alsogot to stand them taking almost half of your screen, like those enormous Lenin statues of the past 'golden ages'.... it is gonna stare at you, with its judging gaze... yes yes you! burgoise .... opportunist.... individualist ..... reakcionist.... slumber...
The way you speak, the way you teach, everything is great. Thank you for sounding kind, calm, relaxed, and awesome :)

Ahh I was going crazy how to preview sounds on this piano roll, found it in this video, the "midi editor preview" was it. Thank you!
Very helpful I'm coming from Logic after 30 years switched to Ableton because of the random possibilities...
Keep it coming please!

Really helpful video...thank you
super helpful. Thanks!
Thanks Thomas great tutorials
Great info
Mind Blowing
how do you make long notes or attach notes that last 2 or 3 bars continuously? Do you need a midi keyboard for that?

Hi Thomas! Gab es die Scale Funktion erst mit der Ableton 11 Version oder war das bei Ableton 10 auch schon möglich? Liebe Grüße, super Video! ✨

I have no idea, maybe if I would see a video of you trying to do this I would understand the problem!
Great
great!
graciasss
6:17 - you did that, but you didn't explained how to make it. Normally if you move up and down by the brush, the notes are painted just straight.
It would really be cool if the color for the grid and midi notes is different under the scale feature. Having it look the same is not inspiring at all
you have the title wrong, it should be: #5b11 ;)
Your cursor is too small. Can't see what you're doing. Click here doesn't help anyone if you can't see what you're clicking on.
This Video seemed kinda rushed compared to the other video tutorials.
