    YES!!!! Pure Vanilla Extract makes a Big Difference!!! I used McCormick for years, and then I tried some Pure Mexican Vanilla Extract and OMG...Game Changer!!! I also use Fresh Squeezed Lemons 🍋 instead of Lemon Flavoring...Big Difference as well...Love watching all your Videos and learning to do New cooks on my Flattop Griddle.. I have a Dakota Nexgrill...maybe one day I can graduate to a Blackstone 😍

    Outstanding pancake recipe! Nice website too! Easy to print!
    SUBSTITUTIONS: 1) I subbed the milk for butter milk + a little whole milk to thin the batter slightly. 2) I cut sour cream in half. 3) I subbed 2T flour for 2T ground flax seed. Could also sub about 25% flour for whole wheat flour. Fun to experiment :)

    I've done a lot of different pancake recipes and by far the easiest and it tastes just as good as anything homemade. I don't know if everyone is able to get it but southern biscuit flour formula L. It has little pieces of shortening and butter flavored specs in it. All you do is just put a cup or two of that in a bowl. Pour milk in it and mix it until that's the consistency you want. If you like thick pancakes, make it thick. If you like thinner pancakes, make it a thinner batter. You can add a little bit of sugar. You can add vanilla. It is seriously the best pancakes and so easy.

    Neal... i gotta start watching these videos earlier, cause here it is 22:30 hours and I'm making pancakes. Luckily I have the Blackstone 17" E-Series griddle and it was just a matter of turning it on to the desired temp. I should have waited just a bit longer and listen to the temp you said i.e. 375 degrees. I set it to 360 and I think the extra 15 degrees would have browned them just a bit darker. I cheated though and used Bisquick Shake 'n Pour Buttermilk Pancake Mix. I'm sure they weren't as good as yours but it took care of my pancake fix.

    Btw I was watching your video and a commercial popped up for Taco Bell’s breakfast Crunchwrap. Seems simple enough so I thought I’d give it a try soon. Will you add this to your video idea list? I’d love your take!

    I wish your pancake recipe was easy to obtain, but when I have to click on this, then click on that and download this. That's when I say forget it! Pancake's look good though.

    Kirkland (costco) Vanilla is the way to go. It's legit and 16oz for $16ish.

    On the vanilla question you can taste and smell the difference. Although I make my own vanilla. Getting ready to make 20 bottles of pure vanilla extract. 10 bottles of Madagascar vanilla extract and 10 bottles of Tahitian vanilla extract.

    If you ever take a vacation to Mexico, you gotta pick up a bottle of vanilla. (Like a 4-5oz bottle unless you’re a baker)

    After working in restaurants for many years, besides the recipe, the most important thing in cooking a good pancake is making sure your grill is seasoned, but dry.

      You don’t put anything on the griddle , no oil or butter?

    • @AJtux
      @AJtux Год назад +1

      @@denisestokes453 No, I don't put any butter or oil on the grill, whether in a restaurant setting or at home. In the restaurant, say, at Denny's where you order pancakes, the grill is always hot and ready for the next pancake, just scrape off the excess from the last order, but always on a dry grill. At home I use a non-stick skillet to achieve the same results. You don't want to fry your pancakes, just cook them until they are fluffy. Some people like fried pancakes, but if you want those fluffy, golden brown pancakes at home, cook them dry and add the butter to the pancakes when they are done.

      Also, don't stir the batter too much, just enough so the ingredients are incorporated. If you whip the batter or mess with it too much your cakes will be flat.

      I second the Mexican vanilla! Got a couple of bottles on Amazon, and it is the best. Makes amazing vanilla ice cream, too!
