For as much as I've been underground and love hoenns route 111 theme, it's surprising I've never noticed a connection
I'm surprised no one noticed this since everyone else is talking about this song's use of the Route 111 theme from R/S/E at 0:58 but this song also uses the Battle Frontier theme from Emerald at 0:41.

One time, I shut my DS with the sound off, mistakenly thinking it would go into sleep mode (forgetting it doesn't do that when the wireless connection is on). I put it in my backpack, then proceeded to school. Something must have shifted the volume, because when I opened my locker, this theme was blasting and it was epic.
Sick that it survived the day, mine would have died :D

I spent countless hours underground because of this music.
I was mostly down there to try and find the most hidden spot for my secret base! That, and digging for stones and fossils. I would always use the mallet, even if the cave collapsed, I didn't care. I just liked digging!

@@xZak-A-42 There was a hidden item that you get down there called the odd keystone that you put in the tower on route 209. Then you have to communicate 32 times with people in underground and then talk to the tower and the pokemon spiritomb will appear.

+Leonard Ababio sorry, but the new exp share is better than the old one, if you aren*;t the person who wants to train pokémon for hours. I enjoyed it to have a game where I didnt need to train for hours.
I just realized how annoying that can be (played Diamond and SoulSilver again, it was horrible)

0:42 kind of has a Sword/Shield vibe to it
Actually, the main motif of the underground theme was remixed for the town themes in SwSh, foreshadowing the remakes.
@@MariOmor1 It's also a partial remix of the desert from RSE.
I think it has a Gold and Silver vibe to it actually. It sounds like Kanto Route 27 .
The chord progression shows upaa lot in the Pokémon franchise. I think people may have noticed it most in Sword/Shield because the Theme of Galar is so prominent in the soundtrack as a leitmotif, and it follows the chord progression exactly. You can hear a lower-tempo version in Gold/Silver's National Park theme (starting about 56 seconds in). It's in Hoenn's Rustboro City theme (31 seconds in), Battle Frontier theme (28 seconds in), and the Frontier Brain Battle theme (42 seconds in). There are likely more in Gens 2 and especially 3 that I haven't found. But it's a really cool chord progression! Triumphant, which made it perfect for the Galar leitmotif.

I don't own BDSP, but I know that the Underground has been implemented into these remakes, with new Typed chambers called Pokémon Hideouts. Yes, the Gen 4 remakes are full of weird glitches, but some of them have been fixed as of later releases of the Gen 4 remakes. Though there still are a lot of things they could improve on, to be honest.
This song does in fact sample from the Desert theme from RSE ^^ It took me a long time to notice it.
I know! It's great, right? Nintendo and Game Freak are so good at referencing their other games!

I just found this song because my friends and i were talking about the fossil digging in Platinum, and when I played the video the theme hit me with a wave of just fond memories. I havent heard this in years but i can remember every single beat, I love it!
I had a dream about the underground a few days ago. Kinda crazy considering that I haven't played Pokemon since 4th generation! That was like 7 years ago, lol. Amazing song, too!

The nostalgia with this theme is intense. I have wasted hours of my life making the perfect base, rearranging furniture, chairs, and plushies until everything is perfectly cosy. (also placing traps for unsuspecting friends to fall in is hilarious)

I feel your pain, bro. That reminds me of when I was a kid. I got jealous of my youngest sister, and hid her copy of Diamond in a big musty box of gloves and hats and stuff that we keep for cold weather. My sisters and I forgot about the game for years, and we just recently found it. It doesn't work anymore because it was with a bunch of dirty stuff, so if I ever want to play Diamond again, I'll have to either buy a used copy online, or download an emulator.
Michael J you may not ever read this, but if you clean/scrape the metal contacts on the cartridge, it may be salvageable. There are a bunch of videos on YT about salvaging old DS games using this method.
I lost my copy of White that I got for Christmas as a kid. It fell down a Taxi seat and I didn't realise. The Taxi guy had handed it in to his depot, and someone else had claimed it.

I never got to make my own cave place i LOVED underground and the game as a whole my FAVORITE pokemon game and ive played them all up to this point even Yellow
