Man... it sucks that I’m born and raised here in Montana and I never even knew really knew about the amazing paddle fishing we had here. I’d die if I caught a fish that big in Montana😂
That was amazing to watch! Two fish in the same video without "magic" editing...awesome job guys. Michael, as president of the "Year-round Sweater Wearers Club" I'd like to nominate you for Member at Large position! Glad to Dale get rewarded for his team effort! Can't wait to see what's next.

I grew up watching my dad do this on the Mississippi River by Lock an Dam here in the Quad Cities Illinois. I'm 54 years old now and have still yet to do it. I so so want to. One of these days. One of my fishing bucket list.
Love that spot. Can be extremely good in that bend, especially if the water is flowing relatively high. In the lower flows the males stack up in there pretty thick. The only place I have hooked one on the very first cast and also two consecutive casts in a row! All the same day. Very hard to land them there though. We keep a Gaff handy for keepers. Can be an adventure getting back out of there if its raining!
A BIG Congratulations 🎉🍾 to Marcus and Dale catching 180 lbs of fish in two dino fish. I remember last year when these festivities happened and it was pretty cool 😎 indeed. We are allowed to snag gar, drum and carp here.
Defiantly a fresh water drum. Summer time here in Indiana you can here their drumming vibrate the boat. Not sure about the walleye comment but they are good. We used to cut the stones "drums" out of their head and called them lucky rocks. Love the videos!
@@junzilla13 these have protected areas to where you can catch them and something like 10 million are stocked in rivers and lakes, its also not legal everywhere
Dale that's a long away from a Tarpon in a rough inlet or a big Sailfish hook up out in the bluewater but it really looks like your living the dream and living it with what looks like some really good people! Congratulations on a successful trip!!! You know you've got an open invite to come get another Osceola!
Seeing alot of comments here in the ethics of this. This is fishing. There are many techniques. It's not cheating. Its not unsporting. Its just different fish require different techniques. Paddlefish is also protected in all of Texas and a few other places. Ye in the US are so lucky ye have such a diverse range of fish to fish for
Little suggestion .I fish and land 200 lb plus gator gar , If you will get some plastic coated aircraft cable it will stay open so you can snare the fish. Really enjoyed this video
When the Overlander is ready, this is a bucket list fish! Live in Oregon, caught some massive White Sturgeon in the Willamette and Columbia, this is another dinosaur I wanna catch. Just once. PLEASE get your caviar right, I really want to see it done! Paddlefish only slightly behind or equal to Beluga/White Sturgeon. A LOT of poaching around here killing big female White's.
Where we fish on the Yellowstone during "keep days" there is always a guy with the 36" gaff to "help" you out. "keep day" what you drag in is your yearly fish. When we left in 2019 they had the smallest and biggest on the FWP station board. 11 lbs to 104 lbs. Mine was 66 lbs. (I lucked out)
Note to self.... EMPTY your pockets before fish rasslin'. Randy's kin folk would be hollerin' moves when time to be rasslin' fish. Two fine paddle nose there fellers.
Howdy Sir. I grew up in Culbertson, MT and loved the paddlefish season. To be honest I would take a lemon pepper grilled paddlefish meal over a walleye any day of the week. So far my biggest is 108 lbs and would have loved to catch another this year but they cancelled season here in North Dakota.
I accidentally caught one on a swimbait wide eye shade and it was huge but they are big fish and fun to fight taking my line off my bass pole fast I thought for a minute my pole was going snap
Ahahaha i live in missouri one year they were so thick below Springfield dam the paddlefish completely ruined the catfishing that year you couldnt keep a line out there without one of those suns a bitches running into it
I fish the lower Yellowstone. I derived from my paddlefishing. Montana actually has 3 paddlefish seasons. I've yet to see a good video of the dredge cuts!
“You guys ain’t gone post this on the Internet are ya?” ......”no! No! Nobody’s gonna see this” ......lmao
The fish were awesome but the "no bugs" at 18:06 makes it even sweeter. Looking forward to Ep. 2

born raised minnesota always catch and release. amazing fish. caught a few on my yak that nearly tipped me
Same I’ve lived most of my life here and never even relized we have paddle fish
Never in my life did I think snagging game fish would be legal and then I found out about paddle fish
Snagging fish is illegal. I learn the hard way. Got a $700 fine. Do not snag any fish.
@@johnrambo1349 there’s a snagging season and permit for paddlefish.
@@johnrambo1349 Different states have different regulations for different fish. What they did here was perfectly legal.
I didn't know it was illegal, where I'm from not only is it legal but it's the most common way we catch cod.
Same ive been accadentally hooking fish and ive known about spoonbill for a long time now and its completly legal to snag them in my state@@clintago
I thought Sasquatch was losing his hair but realized it was Michael.

I know snagging is the only way to catch these things, but there’s something about it that bothers me
a lot of people bowfish in kentucky and catch these

In MS I’ve know ppl get them in their nets but it’s rare
I never knew paddlefish existed till I played Far Cry 5. Good to see they are actually found in Montana too!
Nothing like friends and family on the river for a day of fishing, fun and fellowship! GOOD TIMES!

"Snagging for GIANTS" there corrected your title.
You have to snag because they are filter fish it’s the only way
Yeah still fucked tho even a smaller hook could have been better for the fish
A brand like bkk would hold up for sure
Very enjoyable to watch. Almost felt like I was there.

Mr. Hocket reminds me of Red Green. Awesome, video
Wow so much skill in snagging LOL, I love how this is even a thing. Must feel good to know that you could never trick a paddle into eating bait 😂.
Ummm. Yea. You never will be able to. They are filter feeders. Must feel good talking shit and not know what you’re talking about.

I stand corrected. I just saw you tighten your drag as tight as you can and then look surprised at the result. I retract my statement.
Paddlefish are so frikken cool !! It makes me sad that these 2 are not out there making more Paddlefish babies to regrow their populations.
Treble hook snagging is a shitty way to fish
Here in oklahoma we can't use barbed hooks for snagging, we either buy spoonbill hooks or just grind off the barbs
