- One of the best posing routine ever in the Olympia history, Shawn Ray in 1992. His proportions, symetry and separation was outstanding. All that combined with a great posing routine is a true work of art.

He was the one bodybuilder who had no weak points. Every single muscle from head to toe was proportioned perfectly. When he posed he flexed every muscle perfectly. His last insertions came all the way down to his lower back. There isn’t a bodybuilder today who has a back development like that today. Everyone today has a gap in their lower back it’s unbelievable!! Every pose looked good from front to back insane absolutely no weak points. His biceps, triceps, back, quads, hams, calves, traps, proportions, cuts, shape everything.

Unbelievable presentation of true bodybuilding as an art. What great symmetry Shawn displayed. The timing of the poses with an execution of confidence. Shawn Ray had it all and I am sure as many others feel the same, that he most definitely should have won the premier title of MR. OLYMPIA👑💪🥇🏆

If I could pick a body as a 'dress' to wear between all the eras of bodybuilding I would go for early 90's version of Shawn Ray. And I would also take his ability to move to display it.......

if he were to compete in classic today in his prime, he would likely beat Chris Bumstead.. easily one of the best physiques of all time..

Chris bumstead is 7 in taller and 25 lb heavier on stage. That would give Chris an advantage as far as looking more classic. However, Shawn Ray at 5 ft 6 was over 200 lb and in 92 he was closer to 2:10 or 2:15. Sean Reyes bigger for his height but Chris bumstead takes up a lot of room on stage because of his height. Shawn Ray only weigh 225 in the offseason and Chris bumstead 265 in the offseason. Would definitely been interesting though

He'd have to lose around 25lbs to make the weight cap so he would be far less impressive. As he is in the video then yes but not so sure about 25 lbs lighter

99 & 92 were incredible for me regarding Shawn. 1992 he had better rear and overall leg development. Especially the separation and striations in the glutes. The detail in his back double bi is also incredible here. Doesn't have the vascularity of 1999 and yes he is slightly heavier there but overall I think 92 edges out 99 for overall package. That said, I think he deserved the win both years.
Easily my favorite BB of all time. Don't care about the politics around or about him, I admire his work, genetics and what he brought.

That was one of the best Olympias ever. Also staying in the same location all these recent years has made the Olympia small and stagnant like a regional show. Imagine the hype if the Olympia ever visited Egypt when Big Ramy was reigning champion.

The ONLY thing Dorian had over this guy was his back. Everything else was Shawn Ray. I respect Dorian as a Mr. Olympia and as a competitor, but I think there were several Olympias where someone else should have won. Once they started awarding Dorian the win, aesthetics and the beauty of bodybuilding went out the window, and it's never gone back to the way it was before. Hence the Classic Division.
Giving Dorian the title in 94 ruined the sport for decades.

I saw this live, via closed circuit. I had him winning this Olympia and was baffled when Yates, Levrone and Labrada were ahead of him. Flawless physique. I had Shawn Ray in 1st, Labrada in 2nd, Yates in 3rd and Levrone in 4th. Shawn got robbed, no doubt.

I didn't like his talk at the time, but what he delivered there almost 31 years ago was bodybuilding near perfection! Bodybuilding as it should be, today at the highest level but unfortunately is no longer. Shawn had enough mass, great round proportions, top class aesthetic posing and charisma.

Thanks for the upload...........Ray's amazing physique and spectacular posing exposes everything that is wrong with bodybuilding today........it is no longer an art like it used to be...flawless physique. It is just unfortunate that he competed in the era of juggernauts like Haney, Yates and Ronnie.

this guy is one of my favourites he had perfect lines ,balance ,symmetry and conditioning , i have come to the conclusion that guys like shawn are often overlooked not because of thier height but i think its because nothing pops out there is no overpowering body part everything flows perfect dorian yates had a great back and calves and that was it ,,,,,but won 6 olympias ,,,,,

After Lee Haneys superb domination of Mr O, Shawn Rays classical perfection is where I thought bodybuilding was heading. Then in walked Dorian Yates… to begin a new uncharted era of bodybuilding.
