New from Diode Dynamics is a unique product for the 2015+ Subaru WRX and STi. These C-Light LED boards fit right behind the factory diffusing reflector. Paul, thanks for the helpful video. I wouldn't have had the courage to open the headlights on a brand new car if you didn't make it look so easy. Completed the job this past weekend and although it is time consuming, it isn't hard at all. With the chrome painted black and your c-light, it is looking how it should have came from Subaru in the first place.
My only gripe is that the yellow wire in the pigtail is not long enough to reach down to tap into the turn signal in the lower bumper. I had to cut that mesh sleeve off of the pigtail harness to have a long enough wire. But then the other three wires are too long which isn't a big deal, just zip-tied them. For true plug and play though, that pigtail harness with the male connectors should have the yellow wire like 2 ft longer than the white, black and red. Awesome product though. Can't beat it for the price and I think looks better than Subispeeds new aftermarket complete headlight which costs over $1,000
totally agree with you regarding the yellow wire... wish the yellow wire was longer than the rest.
I like the video, though I wish there was one for the limited headlights as there are some significant differences. also some mounting tips / suggestions for the drivers would've been nice as well.
Here at 10:30 you don't show how you leave the plug for the oem c-light bulb. You simply leave the adapter out ? Wouldn't that open the opportunity for condensation?
Doing this set up right now actually, and yes it will. Pretty disappointing that they didn't give at least a little grommet to feed that wire through but oh well I guess

When you connect the turn signal can you eliminate the bottom turn signal if I want just the c-light as a turn signal. How would I do that?

+Diaper Maverick Hi there! These boards are a direct replacement for the factory boards and fit right underneath the factory reflector lens. Once the lens is put back in place and the clips are snapped into their original position, it holds the boards in place. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Hi there! The red wire connects your parking and daytime running lights.
What about the now unsealed hole where the factory bulb was? Those headlights are going to build up humidity..

Is there any chance you guys could make a tutorial video like this for the 13-17 XV Crosstrek Switchback C-Lights that you guys sell? You have a showcase video but no tutorial (unless I just haven't found it yet) I really want these lights but I'm not sure I could do it using only the various WRX tutorials that are all over RUclips. Theres videos for the LED bulb replacement on the Crosstrek but not the full LED Switchback C-Light strip upgrade.

Amen brother, I just did mine last week and my finger tips are still feeling the pain from trying the pull the lights apart...the bytul is not easy to work with either and one thing I would add and dont ever touch the inside of the lense
Yet another great video and easy to follow instructions. Installed the TaT kit as well and love them a year later!
In this video it starts when the light is already removed from the vehicle...for someone whom has not removed these from the car before, do the written instruction cover this step? I was going to order today and wanted to have my DRL configured as well.
thoughts on what I should do if I want to run this setup with the DRL configured as well but never removed the lights from the vehicle?
+GR8GUY54 Thanks for your support! The installation guide that comes with this product provides instructions for after the headlights have been removed from the vehicle. Removing the headlights does require taking the bumper and radiator shroud off the vehicle. for some odd reason my cables seem to be loose because c light would sometimes be off and when i tap the plastic undercoverthe where cabels are it would turn on again.

You sent me the newer replacement DRL Harness to me. I installed it and removed your original DRL harness. The flickering issue seems to be gone. With the new harness do you need to still use the white pigtail wire and tap into the parking light. With out taping the parking light I'm not getting power to the C-Lights when the headlights are on.
+hellboy2pt0 Yes, that is correct. We recommend tapping the white wire from the C-Light pigtail to the red wire coming out of the OEM C-Light or Sidemarker. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact us!
you mention you can double the light output of the white during the day. would we just attach the red wire to a positive trigger? thanks.

With the wire coming out for the c light, is the inside of the headlight completely sealed?
+anthony topalian Thanks for reaching out! The wires should be run through an existing factory hole or grommet in the headlight. The headlight would still need to be completely sealed to prevent any moisture or condensation. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!
I know you already have a video for the BRZ headlight, but the oven is required for those headlights?
+smotonaga (VersuS HD) That is a great question! The glue on the STi headlamp and the glue used on the BRZ are two different glues. For the BRZ, we would recommend heating the headlamp in the oven, for easy glue removal. for some reason, after the install, the passenger side goes dim when the car is running. when off they work fine.

If you plug in the optional DRL harness into the factory headlamp connector where he's pointing at around 9:10, where do you plug the connector from the main harness (the gray one) that was initially connected to the headlights?
This is the old process. We have since come out with a newer DRL harness. With this new process, the factory headlight harness will plug back in like normal, and the new DRL harness will plug into the factory DRL resistor box. There are two wire leads coming off of the DRL harness that will run to the red wire on the wire pigtail on either headlight.
Is it common for the switch back to not light up or the c light itself to not come on at times? I’ve changed the tap connection to a stronger one and that last a day until it rained the next day

when you connected the white and ground, I saw there was a red wire still free besides the Amber. what is the red wire for?

Does anyone know if you can cut the pre existing drl bulb and housing out of the circuit? I tried calling Diode Dynamics and they didn’t have an answer. Thanks.
Update - you can cut the pre existing DRL bulb and socket out of the circuit and solder the new LED wires directly instead of using the provided snap on connectors. Just finished doing this and can confirm it works.
@@charlielapp2427 so you cut out the bulb on the headlight that was originally used in the C-light and soldered the pigtails to the headlight wiring? I'm a little confused @ 9:07 where he says if you have their DRL harness you plug it into the factory connector; where would the actual factory wiring connect to then?
@@xil3ntkha0s I'm not sure what he is talking about there. The DRL harness they sell plugs into the pigtail connectors coming off the driver for the LED light. They have another video that shows an install for the DRL harness I would watch that for better clarity. Also, look up other videos of the install... you kinda have to watch a bunch and piece it together since their instructions aren't the best.
Would they fit the gc8 heads (I’m trying to make a kaizen style headlight)
We've seen these retrofitted into GC8 headlights before, but these are only drop in for the 15+ WRX.
I received my c light today, I have one question, the limited c light hole is to small to fit your connector, could you tell me how to unplug the connector(have some tip ?) so I can take to wire through this hole first and then plug the connector back

How would I wire these if I wanted the amber as my DRLs ?
The C-Light is intended to only turn amber when the turn signal is activated, and white for parking lights/DRLs.
Just swap the wiring. I got mine done today and I'm running amber as DRL.
I just installed these not to about 2 weeks ago and one of the sides just gave out. The swtichback amber color still works when i use it. Any thoughts Diode Dynamics??

+Diode Dynamics so i just checked all the wiring in my car. Everything seems to be wired up correctly. White to red for parking lights, black to black for ground and amber to blue for the turn signals. The white parking lights are still is not working for one side. I put the stock c light bulb back in and its lights up so i know it cant be the factory wirings. The only thing i can think of is theres something wrong with the wiring itself or the bulbs are shot. But the amber turn signals still work tho. Whats your recommendation?

If you mean do you have to use the turn signal option in the c-light, no you don't. If you mean do you have to use a different turn signal module under the dash because of the hyper blink, no you don't, unless your turn signals in the bumper are also LED.
I have the OEM turn signal bulbs plus the DD -c-light and it works fine.

ALREADY have the tail as turn kit with the bright LEDs for reverse. I also would like to match a nice bright front turn signal...basically I need fogs, front turn and this clight. my back looks awesome, can you help make my front look just as nice?

So I'm in the process of installing these on my car. What do you recommend doing to fill the gap where the wire is coming out of the headlight (where the 194 bulb was located previously)?

It will take a lot of time an patience if using a heat gun!

Ray Pieczynski I use what I use at work. Clear RTV silicone Adhesive Sealant....can find it at Lowe's or Home Depot
Is it fucking 5 or 6 screws???? this is the first vid I found of it saying 5, others say 6(subispeed) I am mid proccess and only have 5 but its hard to open. not sure if its adhesive or if there is another one. I think there is only 5....
