I am SO EXCITED to share our biggest project yet!!! Our outdoor fireplace with bench seating is pretty stinking amazing and we're sharing the entire process in this video. I designed this outdoor fireplace to complement our home's French colonial exterior. We're going for an "old world French countryside" feel and I think we nailed it!
We hired a man named Tony to lay the brick and stone and he shared a ton of great tips and tricks, drawing from his 40+ years of experience as a third generation stone mason! (And he was a real sport, answering my many, MANY questions, all while having a camera in his face the entire time! Thank you Mr. Tony!) I'm thrilled he was so generous in sharing his knowledge and skill so I can pass it onto you! (If you're in the central Kentucky area and are on the hunt for a mason, I'd be happy to give you his info.)
Watch the video to see how this beautiful outdoor fireplace came together - we're covering the site prep, roughing in, stone veneer installation, and more. If you have any questions, drop them in the comment section below! And if you enjoyed this video, I'd love for you to share it! Thanks so much for watching!

Did you know outdoor living spaces like this one greatly increases your home's value and can bring you a 60% - 80% return on investment?! Does this video inspire you to tackle a project like this one?

I would have considered placing a capped gas pipe stub in case you ever decide to use gas.
That concrete made me cry.
What is the manufacturers name , color and stone type. I want that exact stone ahaha
Looks great
I’d think it would be easily a 100% return on investment.
Everyone needs a Tony!
Looks amazing and works as a privacy wall from neighbors! The best thing is that it was accomplished as a family project.
The end result is really nice and I know i would be really proud to have this in my garden.
Wow! Tony did a great job!
WOW! All I can say is WOW! It is soooooo beautiful!!! I LOVE it!!
Great looking fireplace. Everyone should be wearing a mask when cutting those stones.
That is a master-level outdoor fireplace. Very awesome!!
Wonderful outcome, exactly what we are hoping to achieve. I love the mason built look with mortar tucked joints over the stacked stone kits. Thank you for sharing your experience with such detail.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
that is the wetest concrete i ever saw. weakens it rebar is criticlal dont ever mix that wet
Wear respirators and gloves when working with cement dust.
Correct. You’re at risk for pneumoconiosis, an irreversible, progressive, fatal restrictive lung disease when you inhale fine particles such as cement dust.
Lol relax it's not that big of a deal unless you do this daily. Have you ever worked a day in your life?
Thank you.
This video is so well done!!
Easy to watch.
Perfect amount of detail.
Beautiful.

Good job team
Beautiful
Love it .I have been a stonemason for 35 years yes I would have done somethings differently but the end result is very nice and more important your happy with it . Most likely the reason behind the wide range in price is because of different way of doing it .
agreed, 40 years myself. It looks nice and you live in a warm climate, so freezing isn't a big issue for you.
Agreed
funny behind the scene 😂 I actually enjoyed watching this random clip

Great job and superb narration.
Amazing work! This will be a great space to enjoy with the fam!
Thanks Jamison! We can't wait till it gets a little cooler so we can hang out here more!
Cheers for the Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Panilliaan Immaterial Prevalence (probably on Google)? It is a good exclusive guide for protecting your family from danger without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy after many years got astronomical success with it.
Great choice, great looking fireplace :=)
Great video!!

@@JenWoodhouse1 Hey Jen, can you provide the manufacturer for the stone? For a cultured product, it looks amazing!
@@michaelz6870 I agree! My local brick & stone yard gave me a couple of catalogs to look through and then ordered a few samples for me to see in person. I ended up choosing Horizon Stone 19th Century Canyon Ridge because it complemented our house so well: www.horizon-stone.com/19thcentury/
Awesome project, and it was designed well to look very good. There is only one slight problem on how the seating and hearth were veneered. The horizontal slab stone should overhang the vertical veneer stone, rather than the vertical stone being in front of the horizontal hearth stone. As it is installed, there is a water penetration joint at that intersection. I understand it is not part of your house, so water intrusion is not a huge concern, but eventually, the water intrusion will damage the mortar holding the vertical veneer stone, and repairs will be necessary, especially after any wet freeze - thaw cycles. Maybe this occurred due to the size of the hearth stone that was used not being wide enough, so something to plan for to avoid this situation.
Also, since they filled the center with soil, when it gets wet and freezes, it will push the face out.
Nice job so pretty
nice design. i like it.
Thanks for sharing. You will be amazed at how much more time you spend outdoors. I'm curious, what did your children think of the project and are they enjoying the finished product?
Great Job Very Very Neat 😊
Nice!
👋Hi,.. They obviously paid a mint on this addition but it was well worth it.
The value of their home went up ten fold .
Great job & video !
Awesome project. i would like to make an outdoor fireplace. It looks better than a fire pit lol.
Very nice job
Beautiful. I’m going to try and build a smaller version for my backyard
They came out beautiful. You should get a cast iron heat deflector they come in all kinds of Decorative styles which will radiate the heat forward giving you more warmth
Great idea, thanks!
What does that look like? I googled it but only cooking pieces came up.
Scrolling through RUclips looking for DIY Fire Place... As I’m watching, I’m thinking this dude looks familiar... It’s freaking Adam! Glad you guys are doing well.
Nice job 👍
"I'm always cold" LOL!
Hey Jen - what did you guys use to white wash the stone? Looks amazing
Im a carpenter myself and i have always admired the bricklayers skills, i tried blocking a doorway with bricks once, thank god it was to be covered, not pretty at all 🤣
keep practicing, masons and carpenters use the same skills, I know, I do both.
State of the brickwork on that chimney 🤣
Love the fireplace, it looks amazing! We are getting a price on one, but it will be all white brick. Great video. I felt like i was watching HGTV lol
I'll take it! Thanks for the kind words!
How did your project go? What was your investment id you don't mind me asking....thanks!
