Mike, I have been turning for 40 years and today I learned that I have not been using my parting tool efficiently. Thanks for todays tutorial. It's been most valuable.
No matter how often you watch these videos there's always something new to learn. People may think "No, not another", but there is the part of the video which shows the difference you get by changing the angle of cut. I hadn't realised before. Due to an accident with a saw I haven't been turning for a while so, I will probably have to have a refresher. Thanks Mike.
I first watched your video when it came out in January 2020. I just watched it again, and I think I learned at least four more things. You're a wonderful teacher, Mike. A wonderful, wonderful teacher.
Mike, thanks for the tip at around 7:30 on the video of going in straight and then lowering the handle into the cut. I never realized why some of my cuts were ragged. Great tip. Really enjoy your videos. Keep em coming. Cheers from across the pond!
Hi Mike Another Great Video on Beginning Guide Revisited As Always Great Information Great Job. One Day will get back into it Woodturning Thanks You For Sharing 👍
The jobs a good’un as usual Mike. Great improvement on the original bringing in new elements. Even experienced turners tend to hack away with the parting tool like Lenny the Lumberjack. I’ll add it to our web page to help the bevy of new members we’ve got. Thanks for this Mike.
once again tips from the Master Mike, your basic control videos and techniques are great for new turner and long time turners, It was your video that includes speeds that helped me when I first started.
Thank you Mike for this video as usual very professional . Im just about to order one of those parting tools . . . M42 Carter & son it is now ! 😂 Keep up the good work
Every time you mentioned the "Fuzzies" I thought of Corporal Jones, "Those fuzzie-wuzzies don't like it up 'em". Thanks for the tips and keep up the good work.
Hi Huw and thank you, I did a video on sharpening some years ago, here's the link: ruclips.net/video/Xl_G1QUSXkM/видео.html I warn you it's 6 years old!
Hi Mike! Your videos are always informative and well done. I particularly like you new twin camera angles. Question: Why don't you like the Bedan? I'm just curious.
Hi Eddie and thank you. I just never got the hang of it, mind you it is most probably due to the fact that I wasn't prepared to spend the time practicing when other tools I have give the same result.
Hi Mike, I always enjoy your videos and learn from them as well. I just have a question on the method used starting about 7:30 of going straight in and then lowering the handle to ride the bevel. Since you were getting a better & cleaner cut going straight in why not just continue using that method vs changing over to the bevel riding cut? Please advise and keep the great videos coming...much appreciated. Myles
Is the bedan, (not sure of the spelling), that you converted basically a beading and parting tool with only one bevel? I can see how that might be kind of "grabby".
mike the first tool you showed us,,,the one that is wider at the tip and tapers back,,is there a name for this parting tool,,and also have you ever did any fluting on your work,,
Very informative. I told my husband I had not been using my parting tool correctly. Thanks!
Lol ... thank you Pat 🙂

No idea ... strange.
