Made to Michigan State Line Check out the old museum and drive through the old downtown of an old mining town Ironwood, Michigan was settled in 1885 and incorporated as a city in 1889.
The city was named after James Wood. The discovery of iron ore mines in the late 19th century led to the establishment of Ironwood. The city's population grew from 7,745 in 1890 to 15,739 in 1920. The last iron ore mine in Ironwood closed in 1966.
The Gogebic Range was once home to a thriving deep-shaft iron mining industry. Iron mining peaked in 1920 and ended in 1967. Many miners moved to work in copper mines in Ontonagon County. Most of those mines closed by the mid-1990s.
The Ironwood Area Historical Society works to preserve the history of Ironwood. The society uses collections, archival research, and community outreach to pass on the Ironwood story to future generations

Hey, Hey, RVerTV Russ, Michigan, Too Cool For School. Thanks for the ride along again today. 👍
The UP in Michigan is gorgeous. The western part of full of mountains and mines. Perfect time to the UP before the snows starts, the UP gets a ton of snow.
Love traveling with you through beautiful country. 😊 Happy Labor Day!!
Marvelous trip! Love all the green, blue skies and all the vintage buildings. Thank you. Take care.
Thanks Russ this has all been so as you would say too cool for school
Beautiful land up there. We are truly blessed in America 🇺🇸 thank-you Lord
The uk is better
Hi Russ! Your wonderful video of Ironwood brought back so many memories. I spent 22 winters there testing winter tire performance for Goodyear, out of Akron Ohio; we had a test area at the local airport. The folks and businesses in the Ironwood area were just wonderful and a total pleasure to work with and know. I considered myself a part time Yooper. Thanks again for the superb video!
Thank you Russ for showing my homestate of Michigan.
I ❤ your channel. For people like me that are disabled and cannot travel like you can, your channel lets us travel virtually with you so we see the US the same way you see the US. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤.
Thanks for letting me ride along, love the laugh of yours!
Another beautiful small American town all decked out and very patriotic ! Of course the museum was great, and the highlight was that stained glass door. Thnaks Russ, safe travels.
Back when I was in OTR driver I made a delivery up into Marquette, MI. I liked what I saw of the UP on that trip. The UP is my favorite part of Michigan. Marquette seemed like a nice town to me.
You missed the murals on the building. Miners that worked those iron ore mines through the yrs. The real history of that area. Plus the logging. I cried when I saw the building where Michigan Bell was. I worked there back in 1958.
Within a few miles was the shores of Lake Superior. The statue of Hiawatha.
I love that you post on Sundays I feel like I’m going for a Sunday drive back when I was younger. Thanks for the ride 😊👍
Thanks for coming to Ironwood and the Historic Depot!
We were just in Ironwood spent the night, YES we rode along the Lake Superior Michigan and Wisconsin were beautiful enjoy
Back before I was born in the 1930’s, my grandparents who ran a tourist camp and general store in western Maryland aided a young couple from Ironwood. And got them supplied and on their way. It was during the Great Depression and these dear folks had no resources. When they got home, they wrote such a wonderful letter to my grandparents and the correspondence continued even with my Mom. Kindness has its rewards indeed. Thanks for visiting Ironwood.
I don't know if it's an Omen or a blessing? You flew your drone over my camper in quartzite this last winter , when it was getting the solar installed at Solar Bills, now you're in the Town I just purchased a home in! I was looking for videos of Ironwood right after I submitted my purchase agreement in Ironwood. And your video came up. What's the chance of that?😮❔❓ I decided to end full-time RVing and wound up here. And I just watched you drive past the house??? Bizarre 😮
We’re watching your ironwood museum. It brings back memories for my husband who probably hasn’t been there in 70 years.
Thank you Your videos are very enjoyable
Hi russ another great tour thanks alot . Cheers mate🇦🇺
You have been in my backyard the last few days! And I am really enjoying your trip through WI and Michigan. I recommend Pictured Rocks and Kitch etikippe Springs. Thanks!

I agree, the little local museums are great - thank you foe stopping. This one was interesting to learn about the immigrants that came from Italy and Finland.
Wow - a Ben Franklin store! We had one in my home town in Vermont, and I think it went out of business maybe 35 years ago.
Hey Brother Russell you are doing a fantastic job and thank you so much enjoying the road trip feed stores out here where I live or cold Walmart God bless

Nice work, Russ.
A good friend of mine here in AZ is originally from Ironwood. "Super Yooper"!
Running behind, catching up. Beautiful depot museum. Hope you get a pasty. UP is beautiful, lots of great camping spots. 126K, congrats!! 👍 🙂

2 season's in Wisconsin...winter & road construction
Those hanging petunia baskets are incredible! I always wish I had a greenhouse to put our plants in before winter hits us!
You should drive East side of lower Michigan on your way through Michigan. Also Lake Superior is the youngest Lake out of the Great Lakes.
Welcome to Michigan Mr. Russ❤
It's too bad you didn't go through Hurley there's a lot of history in our town. This has been great watching to see everything from a different viewpoint. Safe travels.
It's a great video nice area tks for your work
That Museum is a Harvest Host…you could have camped there for the night!🤗
FYI Absolutely NO cell service in Copper Harbor!
There is WiFi at the Chamber of Commerce and in the park surrounding it.
Nice video, thank you. Beautiful area in the summer months. Nice in winter if you don't mind 12 feet of snow.
Russ, nice video. My late Mother-in-Law grew up in Ironwood in the 1930s. But, you blew right past Hurley, WI. A city with a population of only 1,560 people, but has 25 bars! It was a summer retreat for Chicago mobsters during prohibition. 😊
Great video sir.

Have You Ever Drove Through Kent Ohio i Enjoy All Of Your Videos
IF you want to take a break from the RV there's a rental in Negaunee called Union Station and you can rent out the entire train depot for the night , couple of bedrooms huge dining area , kitchen . a bit echoey because the floors are concrete so it's similar to staying in a garage. but it's really a nice joint if the weather cooperates. Theres a laundromat up the street that has a sign in the window "NO Mining clothes".... so don't bring your mining clothes. You can overnight at most MDOT rest areas..the one near Detroit on 275 the cops will kick you out because of the drug and prostitution trade and the one in on EB I96 west of grand rapids is just loaded with people overnighting in cars, so much so sometimes you can't find a spot to take a 1 or a 2.
Can you here the Youpers live in Negaunee?
Oh, Yeah sure hey@@erbewayne6868
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Russ go to Christmas Michigan and eat at Foggies restaurant best steak you'll ever have IMHO
Those trails are atv in summer snowmobile in winter.
Howdy Russ 👍
Russ you have a stocker, that white van seams to be everywhere you go 😮😅
Just the mere mention of subzero temperatures.. and I’m in hypothermia mode!
Sure hope you stumble on some gemstones!!!
You missed the ski jump.
