Hi Russ, thanks for your reply, your show is always enjoyable and informative,I couldn’t help noticing that hat you were wearing, while visiting with your daughter,I thought maybe you might sell them in your merchandise store, but didn’t see it, beautiful pictures and hat, keep on trucking Russ!?
I really enjoy watching your RUclips Channel videos, Russ! I'm a WV native and we have alot of great history in our state that we have proudly preserved. I'm a lifelong resident of Weirton, WV which is located in the Northern Panhandle of WV. When you see our state capital in Charleston, you're going to love touring our state capital. You can go on a self-guided tour or the staff will give you a tour of our capital. Our capital is absolutely gorgeous. There's also a Cultural Center Museum that you can tour as well. The museum is something that you want to see. The Cultural Center Museum is right on the capital grounds. There's also a great memorial to our American Troops who fought in the war. Definitely check out the memorial as well. Talk soon. Alan
BTW, I forgot to mention I loved seeing you eat the Hillbilly Hotdog!! Need to see more of this kind of thing!!! Maybe even a cooking episode doing one of your cookbook meals?? Just a thought!!
Ohio River Valley girl here. Ancestry tells me the Ohio River Valley is my Community, but I did not need them to tell me that. All of my mom’s ancestors and all of my dad’s ancestors were from the Ohio River Valley. These videos are near and dear to my heart. The museum in today’s video was the best one yet. Maybe because I grew up with all those things. Yes, I am old. My dad’s mom passed along some of her treasures to me, so I recognized some of the things in the video. The Ohio River Valley is beautiful to me. Both the Ohio and West Virginia sides are special to me. Thank you for sharing these videos. ❤❤❤
Hey Russ, you are covering all of the major transportation systems: boats along the river of 1700's; horse and wagons of 1800's; airplanes of the 1900's & RVers of the 2000's ;>} Thanks for a historic few days in Ohio and WV !!!
This is really fun for me to see. 3 friends and I all trekked down for the Mothman Festival in the year 2010 or maybe 2009? We toured the main historic downtown, when to two museums (one for Mothman, one that was historic) and saw the murals too. Took photos of ourselves with the Mothman statue. Your video is really nice, thank you.
Thanks for sharing this. This is my neck of the woods. I was born and raised in the Gallipolis and Point Pleasant area. My husband's uncle was one of the those who went down when the bridge collapsed. It's a beautiful area.
I live here in point pleasant WV... I live a few blocks from that mothman statue. its been there since I was 10.... (2005) Wish I couldve met up with you. SHowed you some COOL stuff.... more than what you seen in the video.
Excellent video, Russ! I have read a fair amount about the period surrounding the battle of Point Pleasant, and it's very interesting to see the country and the artifacts.
Another great video Russ. Glad you got to experience Pt. Pleasant. I just drove thru Point yesterday. And that Hillbilly Hotdogs place does have some great hotdogs.
Having grown up in NYC a hot dog to me was Nathan’s kosher hot dog with mustard and sauerkraut. Imagine my surprise when I moved to WV to find out a hot dog had chili (no beans), onions and cole slaw! Grew to love them. They are all over the state with each town having their own slightly different chili recipe. Kind of like pepperoni rolls!
Point Pleasant is very picturesque. From the pink flowers to the charming downtown it looks like a nice place to visit. What a perfect way to preserve all those artefacts in the old cabin by the river. The murals are a nice surprise facing the river. Hillbilly hot-dog however was the perfect finale to this video in the perfect little town. I would totally stop there myself! Safe travels.
What a fun video, and there's nothing quite like a good old-fashioned chili dog. I kept thinking about my mother while I was watching this. She was an avid antique collector. She had an 18th century china cabinet that looked a lot like the one at the museum, and she would have loved going through that big antique store too.
Hey how was your Hotdog at Hillbillies Hotdog. Hope you had a great time in Ohio and West Virginia. When you come back to Ohio you have to visit the Hocking Hills State Park area is about 65 miles north of Gallipolis. I enjoy you videos hope you have a nice trip back to Arizonia
Wonderful video of another Ohio River small town! Point Pleasant was a great historic ! The Big house and its antiques was so interesting! The floorboards worried me because I kept expecting you to fall through them any second!!😌
Lifelong resident of Point Pleasant, born and raised. I’m a direct descendant of Mad Ann Bailey. The park is pronounced like “2 endi wee” and means where the 2 rivers meet, the Ohio and Kanawha, pronounced “Can awa”. The Mothman is a whole other story. lol. The annual festival is huge and brings over 20,000 visitors to our town. If you ever want to know more about that contact Jeff Wamsley. We also have a replica of Fort Randolph over at Krodel Park. The museum that burned was the Pt. Pleasant River Museum. They’ve since relocated and it’s very nice. The park is where the first battle of the Revolutionary War actually took place. Chief Cornstalk was killed there and put a curse on the town in his dying words. Over the years we’ve had the bridge collapse and the jail blown up. PM me if interested in finding out more. Enjoyed your video! Also, my grandpa retired from the post office and was the first one to call the coast guard when the Silver Bridge fell.
Thank you for this video! I moved to Pt Pleasant Aug 1984 but, haven't been back since I moved away April 1999. It was a treat to see some of it again.
The little mansion was cool. In very good condition considering it's almost 230 years old. The park and memorial was also cool.. Ann Bailey was a frontier scout and helped in the American Revolutionary War. The Mothman Festival draws a huge crowd. This year it was September 16-17.
You missed the best part of Point Pleasant. Rio Bravo 2 Mexican restaurant, got to get the queso cheese dip. Thought you’d like to know, maybe you can try it next time.
I'm Ohio across the river from this video trip. I hear about the moth man festival. You never know, sure enuff lots of strange things in them mountains. Lol.
Been there a couple times. I do not generally eat hot dogs but had to try these. Very good.! Take a good marker with you as theirs are usually about dry . You need to put your name somewhere !
Hi, love your videos!!! Could you please mention how you find your campsites and how much the campsites you stay at cost per night and what hookups are included. I know that would be helpful to me. Thanks!!!
One of the best videos I've seen. Hillbilly hot dogs isn't located here though. The river is pronounced Ka-NAW-a. The name of the park is Tu--endie-wei meaning mingling of the waters. The 2 rivers. As you entered Main street at 6th street you missed the memorial of the old Silver Bridge that fell. (Beside the narrow bldg.) It is the location of the ramp. The Mansion House was a hotel where George Washington once stayed. He commented it was a "pleasant point." Tribute to the River is an annual festival. The TV you saw is on the front of the new River Museum!
Looks like the preference back then was the south bank of the Ohio, that helps to explains the Ohio Kentucky West Virginia jokes from my childhood days. Did not know Danl Boone could read or write. aha ha halah. Incredible how the thousands of years of Indian history is always swept under the carpet in those kind of places and yet most people want a reservation anytime they go some where.
Driving down highway 2 is so beautiful in the fall. Were in Ohio, in Gallipolis. We drive to Huntington along that route. Never ate at Hillbilly hotdogs, but have drove by many times. My daughter lives in SC. We drove her by one time and she said Oh My Gosh and rolled her eyes. We told her we were going to stop and eat. Shes like, no way.
the whole mothman story is bizarre , many ppl think it was just the sighting of this giant bird//moth like creature which the police took very seriously when the ppl who saw it gave their statements, but all types of other weird stuff happened at that time from ufo sightings to odd looking men from the Government showing up in town going to peoples homes and businesses and all of it ending with the collapse of the bridge, very weird part of history for that town

I've been through a lot of museums and this one is by far one of the best.
Excellent video, Russ! I have read a fair amount about the period surrounding the battle of Point Pleasant, and it's very interesting to see the country and the artifacts.

I really enjoy your videos, I like to put the playlist on my TV and let them play all day.
Another great video Russ. Glad you got to experience Pt. Pleasant. I just drove thru Point yesterday. And that Hillbilly Hotdogs place does have some great hotdogs.

Great video Russ looks great I love it
The Cicadas were singing loudly at the park!
That was a very fun video. Did they sell hillbilly hotdog relief? Certainly a pretty stop and that letter from Daniel Boone! Too cool!

Hello Russ, thanks for sharing! Greetings from the Netherlands...
Does Arizona have Cicadas, Russ?
What a fun video, and there's nothing quite like a good old-fashioned chili dog. I kept thinking about my mother while I was watching this. She was an avid antique collector. She had an 18th century china cabinet that looked a lot like the one at the museum, and she would have loved going through that big antique store too.
Cicadas are kind of heavy this year.

You need to come to the East coast, a lot of history and old towns
Hello Russ watching From Ohio
Ahhh, you are in my territory now,,,😊
Point Pleasant was a great stop for us to visit!!
Thank you for sharing, Russ. God Bless 🙏
This is an amazing video, Russ. Love the Mansion museum in the park. Wow.
How do you set up your camp for the evening and do you eat out or cook on a stove or not cook at all?...
Another great one Russ!
Loved the hillbilly hot dog hustle!
Point Pleasant is a beautiful place indeed, but would have enjoyed seeing the MOTHMAN MUSEUM ! Next time please go in!
The little mansion was cool. In very good condition considering it's almost 230 years old. The park and memorial was also cool.. Ann Bailey was a frontier scout and helped in the American Revolutionary War. The Mothman Festival draws a huge crowd. This year it was September 16-17.

annie tell him the mothman is coming for russ to much of his haunting grounds were displayed in his video lol😉
Awesome Russ as usual
Excellent video... So glad you stopped at Hillbilly Hotdogs.
I really enjoy your channel and content! Do you have any idea when the Yellowstone video will be up?
You missed the best part of Point Pleasant. Rio Bravo 2 Mexican restaurant, got to get the queso cheese dip. Thought you’d like to know, maybe you can try it next time.
It’s at about 3:40 in video on the right
I didn't know you could dance. Good video.
Hillbilly hot dog was just the topper on a great day, thank you so much for sharing.
I can see why the Mothman visited, it's a really nice town!
I was born here. Still live in Pt. Pleasant....
I knew exactly where you were headed for that lunch, hope you enjoyed your Hillbilly hotdog!
Mothman Prophecies is one of my favorite films
Were you there before or after the Mothman Festival?
Mothman Festival is an annual event so he was there before and after a festival.
Kewl museum!
I'm Ohio across the river from this video trip. I hear about the moth man festival. You never know, sure enuff lots of strange things in them mountains. Lol.
Well all is really nice.
While you were ln NC. Did u go through Ellijay ga. It's about 100. Or so miles south in GA.
Small town USA.
Been there a couple times. I do not generally eat hot dogs but had to try these. Very good.! Take a good marker with you as theirs are usually about dry . You need to put your name somewhere !

Ruus you are really close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. You should really go down that route before it gets cold
Looks like the preference back then was the south bank of the Ohio, that helps to explains the Ohio Kentucky West Virginia jokes from my childhood days. Incredible how the thousands of years of Indian history is always swept under the carpet in those kind of places and yet most people want a reservation anytime they go some where.
I live across the river in Gallipolis, and Ive never seen this. But I have seen the murals on the flood wall.
Parks well adorned keep the past alive! If that stop for lunch didn’t get me jealous!
That area could easily be a Hallmark-holiday movie setting
That floodwall does sometimes get closed, especially the one there at the park, which is pretty low in elevation.
it is called a spinning wheel😊
Driving down highway 2 is so beautiful in the fall. Were in Ohio, in Gallipolis. We drive to Huntington along that route. Never ate at Hillbilly hotdogs, but have drove by many times. Many people would love to have that wall for security and safety.
Or use for firing squads.
Ask HillBilly Hot Dogs where the meat comes from for the dogs. My guess would be that road out front. I'm sure it's all USDA commercial grade.
Lol I drove that million dollar rt. 550 in Colorado.
In a big rig. Now that was slooooooow going.
What was that noise as you walked around outside mount pleasant state park was it insects
Their Locust bugs, the noise you hear in the background?... Maybe not birds...
I would also like to share that my ancestors where among the first settlers in what is now Dunbar which is about 20 miles south of Charleston.
Did you encounter the Mothman?
The auto focus on the camera is screaming loud in the video
Spinning Wheel. To make yarn for textiles.
@48:45. Hillbilly hotdogs are RVerTV approved!
