- Legend of the Lion King show filmed in the Magic Kingdom during our March 1995 vacation. This show debuted on July 8th, 1994 and ran until February 23, 2002 when it was replaced by Mickey's PhilharMagic.

I love the lion king it's one of my favourite films of all time.
Before we had "Festival of the Lion King", this was your option for Lion King entertainment at Disneyworld. I'm honestly surprised it lasted until 2002 though.
Same. I found it kind of surprising that the overlap with Festival of the Lion King was so long.

To tell the truth- Legend of The Lion King opened at Disney’s Magic Kingdom on Friday, July 8th, 1994.
And then, it closed down on Saturday, February 23rd, 2002 so that it could make way for Mickey’s PhilarMagic.

This replaced Magic Journeys which had previously been at Epcot since that opened. I think the only time a WDW attraction has switched parks.
I enjoyed this but once Animal Kingdom opened I think it was on borrowed time.
I never realized that about Magic Journeys but you're right. I know there have been some parades that have moved between Disneyland and Disney World but can't think of another entire attraction that has moved between parks.
Agree also about the borrowed time once AK opened (with their own Lion King show). In hindsight, this didn't really fit in Fantasyland that well so I'm not too upset it is gone.
@@HonestOtter It definitely felt like an odd choice, probably due to the popularity of the movie & they felt the need to try and capitalise on that.

I have Festival of the Lion King from 2000. I don't think we went in 98 or 99. Still digging through tapes though.
