I have been in many situations as a woman in engineering where I'm overlooked, patronized, and underappreciated. I feel so lucky to have not experienced those attitudes in my gym and I'm so sorry that you have. Sports should feel empowering! I feel so similarly in terms of desiring sisterhood from climbing. Women are badass. I go to many events that are held for women and queer folx and just feel so safe and supported in the environments that are created. I'll be doing my first ever sport climbing camping trip with a women's climbing group in a few months and I can't even begin to express how much joy it brings me to see that event on my calendar! I think the difference in allowance of dogs into many businesses in Mexico has more to do with its public health regulations than with attitudes about dogs. The US has more stringent regulations, especially in places where food is served, food markets with buffets or salad bars, indoor farmers markets, etc. It also differs by state and city or town, some being more lax than others if regulations are more localized.

I've heard that van life may not always be easy out there, but you can always do as best that you can handle. Usually having an empty cargo van to convert into house is better than buying an RV because the cost.

It's incredible how no one discusses the cow in the room (animal ag); taking up an area the size of the continent of Africa; humans kill 73k domestic land animals per second globally... how could any intact ecosystems exist with less than 3% of mammalian wildlife biomass left on earth? So, thank you for being vegan; and you are absolutely correct: outside of a vegan diet/way-of-life & living childfree / minimally, there is nothing better that any of us can do.
