- In this video I show you how to install a WiFi card, specifically the Cudy AX5400, into a desktop computer. The Dell Optiplex 9020 does not have WiFi or Blutooth capabilities stock but with this card now does. The only problem we ran into is that there is no open USB_F port on the motherboard so the card will have to be used without Bloothooth capabilities for now. I have a possible soultion to this which I may make a video about in the future.
Where to buy WiFi Card: www.amazon.com...
I wanna kiss you on the mouth ngl, your passing comment about the cord being soecifically for the bluetooth and not mandatory for the wifi functionality just saved me from a 6 hour blue screen of death loop. S tier channel ❤️❤️🙏🙏
Alright bud, glad I could help.
Came in the clutch with this one! I wasn’t sure about that Bluetooth cord either 💯🔥
Yeah, I just use it as a WiFi card and I have a separate Bluetooth dongle.
@@mjrprojects9476💯 so can you still get a usb 3.0 network adapter for Bluetooth instead?
Yeah, I only use the WiFi card for WiFi but I have a separate network adapter dongle plugged into one of the usbs.
Found one of these without a cable, thanks
The cable’s just for Bluetooth but it uses a connector that only newer computer have so u prolly wouldn’t be able to use the cord even if you had it.
I installed eveything and downloaded the driver but the wifi still doesnt pop up in the corner 😢
Yeah, you’ll prolly have to go to settings and connect to the network there. A lot of times on desktops the little Wi-Fi widget won’t pop up in the notifications area even after installing a wireless device.
If that doesn’t work, you could go to device manger and make sure that your Wi-Fi card is even being recognized and then that it is functioning correctly.
@@mjrprojects9476 mine is not recognized... pretty bad, I'm trying to find what causes it
or do you have to go to a separate computer with a usb and download the drivers there then plug your wifi adapter in and download the drivers on the computer your trying to get wifi in? bc i currently don’t have an existing wifi adapter like you did in my pc i’m trying to get wifi on it
I would assume that that’s the process you will have go through. Also your Wi-Fi card may have come with an optical disk that may also have the drivers pre installed on it. But honestly windows 10 and 11 are so advanced, I know a lot of times they will have generic drivers or they will automatically download drivers for newly detected hardware. What I’m saying is u might be able to slap that card in there and have Wi-Fi without manually downloading any drivers, idk🤷♂️. Also if you have an Ethernet connection you could try downloading the drivers there and then just unplugging the Ethernet when your done. So there’s a whole bunch of different options but I’m sure you’ll figure something out, good luck 👍
@@mjrprojects9476 i would do ethernet but sadly it’s across the entire house 😂
@@joshheath04 even if you could temporarily move the computer over there just for this and then move it back then that would work. But at that point it might be more convenient just to do the usb from another computer.
I cannot install may wifi card due to my gpu it occupied all spaces for pcie x1 slot
I guess you’ll have to either buy a usb dongle or see if you can get a pcie extension cord of some sort and install the card in a different spot.
so you didn’t have to install drivers on a separate usb? you just get the wifi and go to there website and download the driver from there ?
I already had a usb Wi-Fi dongle from before so I was just upgrading to this card. This meant that I could use the old dongle to access the internet to download the drivers and then once the card was set up, I just unplugged the usb Wi-Fi dongle.
@@mjrprojects9476 thank you! great vid btw was planning on buying this wifi adapter and needed to know how to install and get drivers on there im a very new pc owner just got it
If you're using Windows, it already has those drivers built-in, and will update it automatically. Windows has become so advanced that there is no need to download it separately.
so i just got this and installed it but obvsioly don’t have wifi to download the driver so i need the driver for it to work correct?
I assume so 🤷♂️
you download the driver onto a usb with a pc that has wifi then upload
can you buy the antennas separately?
I didn’t but I’m sure u could if u wanted
@@mjrprojects9476 i ask because i saw some on Amazon but you’d have to know which one you need depending on what type of coax you have
