i LOVE nevermoor so much! i’ve been rereading the books every year around christmas time because they’re so comforting. the audiobooks are fantastic, as well. a recent book i read that had similar vibes and in my heart Should be a series is “ember and the ice dragons”! if you ever feel like picking up a fun middle grade that might be cool. my big accomplishments series wise for this year were reading the mistborn trilogy And the lord of the rings for the first time, and greatly enjoying both.
Best new series I read this year was the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I loved it from start to finish.
Just a few off the top of my head:
- most overhyped (also one I DNF) = Book that Wouldn’t Burn by Mark Lawrence, whatever that series is called
- biggest cliffhanger = book 1 from The Tethered Citadel series by David Hair (Map’s Edge)
- if rereads count, then the most anticipated release coming out next year is the final volume of Wars of Light and Shadow by Janny Wurts
Ooh best cliffhanger is a hard one. I think mine tend to be fantasy romances because I want to get to the HEA. But in normal fantasy I just expect them too.
Nevermoor! I’ve been meaning to pick that up-and my library has the audiobook available. As for Nghi Vo, I prefer Siren Queen to The Chosen and the Beautiful, but her Singing Hills novellas are my favorite.
I've found Foundryside so underwhelming but your enthusiasm is making me want to pick up the rest of the series...
I enjoyed all of the books but its also a series that's greater than the sum of it's parts and the final book is sooooo goooood
I'm glad you are enjoying the live ship traders! Will you make a dedicated review for it?
I plan to!
I feel you on serpent & dove 👀
Idk maybe it's just me but I went into fourth wing with such low expectations that as of right now I'm about half way thru. It's serviceable it's not down right terrible or anything and it's not like amazing either but im having fun if I do say so myself
I also went in with low expectations and when I was reading it, I felt similar to you. But more time away from it makes me realize more and more how bad and downright forgettable it was. So I'm curious how it will sit in your feelings as time goes on.
I've read the whole Founders Trilogy this year. Wasn't too impressed with Foundryside, but the sequels were so good!
Fourth Wing, just… 😐😑
Have I ever told you, Sam, that the sound of your voice is calming as I code? I just wanted to so say that it's been a wonderful 8 years listening to you... as I drive myself @#$%^& insane with this @#$%^& project. 😅😘
I've missed seeing booktubers doing tags
Hello kitty!! ❤
