    So I get that promoting a competitor isn't amazing, but for the striker there is an entire suite of internal upgrades available. IHFY and Bespoke Airsoft provide a full host of compression parts, and Action Army Airsoft produces an excellent hop-unit. Further external parts are available through these sources as well. Couple that with an external direct-feed magazine and a stock TCD hop up and it's hard to beat the striker.

  • @Slowponeh
    @Slowponeh 6 лет назад +117

    Guys, you're trying too hard. No one will ever use a stock sniper rifle and VSR-10 is the absolute king in upgradeability.
    Also, holy moly, Tim is RIPPED, man!

      some people might use it stock for a couple of weeks depending on were they live, like in brazil the striker is avaible in a couple of locations for cheap but most of the uprgrades parts are sent from china so 2-4 weeks delivery, that also happen with the VSR and L96, but you are correct still , 99% will not use the gun stock

      Think it in this way - we upgrade the gun because they suck in reliability. Conversely, if the gun itself is good, then there is no meaning (or at least no immediate need) to upgrade the parts as well. Which means you will spend less money into upgrading.
      Not to mention parts are made under requirement. If the guns are popular then parts will be made for them - make the girls bend for you not bend down for them. VSR was born with (comparatively) exceptional performance and pricing when there were no reliable and cheap rifles, and it was still not serviceable at high power play stock, and AS-01 is filling that niche with steel sears.

      Given they had a $300 budget limit, I'd have liked to have seen them use the remaining money ($150 Striker, $120 VSR10, $25 L96) and upgrade/tune the guns as best they could. Then given us tests that actually matter for a sniper. Weight, noise, bolt draw weight, and performance/accuracy testing with a variety of weights of ammo. And yes, actually keeping the bench rest steady and still for the accuracy test.

    I built a TM L96 because I wanted to be different than the sea of VSR10’s out there. My L96 for whatever reason did not take well to upgrading and was very unreliable most of its life, but I will say when it worked it threw a .4 an incredible distance with precision. Next time I’ll just do a VSR10 again.

  • @TriggerBlister
    @TriggerBlister 3 года назад +5

    Just my two cents, I get it they run the same weight bbs through each gun to compare. But for a gun shooting 130 fps faster than the competition, they should have ran .32s or higher in the Striker to try and tame the high fps. Or off camera find what groups the best in each gun, then share the results. Obviously this video is out of date, because the internal parts/upgrades for the Striker have sky rocketed.

  • @deejay1534

    The VSR-10 is literally the AR-15 of Spring Sniper Rifles. Its the most upgradeable and has a cult followinng. The Striker however, is a much nicer tactical rifle with pretty good upgradeability. It’s only MAJOR flaw is the cylinder, but let’s face it; nobody is going to run a bone-stock rifle. With the right parts and the right shooter, you can outperform VSR-10 users

    You all should make an update video for this. The point still stands, however there is now a ton of internal upgrades for the striker now, from trigger kits, pistons, cylinders, tales EAG springs, hop ups, and barrels. I recently purchased one (gen 2) first thing I upgraded was to an m170. Made it an absolute beast, now I'm waiting for the action army hop up. After that I'll have to pull some OT for the EDGI NEMO kit. Can't wait till this project is done.

    If only you guys added the echo 1 asr to the competition it is very consistent with accuracy and fps. The speed with the bolt and reload would be short pull but reload would be like the vsr-10. The upgrades and nearly the same as any l96 upgrade kit just only needs a different bolt style and it's practically the same

    Where's the love for Maruzen APS2 clones? Well L96 MB01 comes with 90* trigger sear stock at $135 with a scope. Shoots 200 ft at 430fps out the box. Replace piston, bucking, and use a 6.01 barrel to hit 480 fps with stock spring. That's only about $225 for gun, parts, and 40mm objective scope. If you ask me, that's the best BUDGET sniper. This was my first sniper, and it lasted years on stock plastic trigger box, plastic piston, and stock spring.
    A 90* zero trigger for VSR10 will run you $100 and compatible piston for $35, which puts you at $295. Add $10 spring to fix fps, puts you at $305 and you don't even have a new inner barrel.

  • @andrewince8824
    @andrewince8824 6 лет назад

    The VSR should still be top. I actually run a Well MBO3. New piston, trigger group (upgraded to a 90°), M160 spring, 550mm 6.01mm inner barrel, Maple Leaf 510mm bull outer barrel, cheap suppressor to cover the rest of the inner barrel, Hawke Vantage + 3-9x50 scope on the top, low profile Maple Leaf safety and Excelvan lightweight 6-8" bipod. I'm getting 520fps, a 10" grouping at 80m with ARES diamond presision 0.4g BBs. The sling is nothing fancy, just a basic Viper sling with the clips removed and the sling connected by looping it through the adjusters. Base gun cost £80, it's not the best rifle ever but it works well enough for what I do. I've got two other cylinders set up with the same pistons however my black Teflon is set up with an M135 giving me about 450fps and the original cylinder is set up with a weak spring, about M100 producing 335fps for springer only CQB events.
    Cylinder swaps are as easy as removing the stock, pulling the pin, sliding one cylinder out and the desired one in.

    • @周生生-f1f
      @周生生-f1f 5 лет назад +1

      In my honest opinion, can a gun be really considered "good" if you have to slap on many other 3rd party parts which could end up having a cost 2-3x the original price of the rifle you based on?
      While the system itself is good, the performance of the gun ended up having not much to do with its original build quality. Looking at your list (as well as mine), there is practically nothing left in both your and my VSR-10. The trigger is removed, the piston is replaced, the barrel group is replaced, it basically is a gun built upon an another gun. IMO that is an end result of throwing many quality parts together rather than the gun being really good. At least the Striker comes with a 90 degree sear and a pretty amazing build.

    VSR-10 and L96 model by Maruzen/Well are the best platforms at least in Europe. You can change everything basically to action army or airsoftpro parts. And the best part, you can get high quality hop up chambers that are TDC designed for a fair price, while using Maple leaf hop up and nubs you can get very long ranges with these platforms really. Getting 3 joule and 100 m is no problem with the parts that are available here.

    Now try and see which gun joule creeps better. The flaw behind the Striker is it's extremely undervolumed and requires a TON of work to make it perform like a VSR with a few small upgrades. In my opinion, until the Striker can over come it's extremely low volume then it shouldn't even be considered

      yes, it requires more money, but not really more work. BUT you also have it much easier to reach high energy, because you can just throw in a stronger spring, which you wouldn't be able to pull in a VSR or L96, because of the long pull in those 2 guns.
      And you don't need to make the volume bigger (since that would destroy the point of buying the striker), it works without that too.

    • @biggathangigalol
      @biggathangigalol 6 лет назад +1

      You can have a striker + scope + EdGi dual bore barrel + EdGi cylinder kit + 2 extra mags for it + Action Army Hop unit + Action Army hop adjustment screw + PDI W hold hop rubber for about £800, which is pretty good considering that's a new gun, plus a full EdGi kit, and a decent optic. Though yes, the low cylinder volume is a concern for some, it's actually not a huge issue in the experience of most Striker users. The main issue with it is that the hop chamber is associated with poor QC, so the upgrade to the Action Army hop chamber is a must.

    • @jamesadams3006
      @jamesadams3006 6 лет назад

      having a high cylinder volume isnt just about pushing out the high joules there are other reasons to do it for instance if you want to get the best performance out of heavy bbs (which will usually travel further than a lighter bb and more accurately) it requires a higher cylinder to barrel volume ratio... well if you have a smaller cylinder to start with that limits you to making an even shorter barrel and that can affect performance in its own right since the different weight bbs require a different barrel length to accelerate to full speed.... cutting it all short having a lower cylinder volume limits your performance with heavier bbs.

    • @周生生-f1f
      @周生生-f1f 5 лет назад

      Let's be honest, what are we really buying for the VSR anyway?
      Chamber wise, the only chamber we use for the VSR is really the AA red chamber and the Striker has their AA blue chamber. (and add in the fact that the Striker's hop up, provided it's normal, does not leak nor curve while the VSR does with high powered springs)
      Cylinder wise, there are multiple steel cylinders (Maple Leaf, AA, PDI) for the VSR and it uses specific springs where their are plenty, but the Striker also has its own steel cylinders (AA, Ares, Edgi) as well as uses AEG springs (which is practically the most plentiful part type in airsoft). Both doesn't handle very powerful springs.
      Barrel group wise, they share buckings and barrels. Upgrade potential is identical in this aspect.
      Handle and external wise, VSR has support from Maple Leaf, AA and PDI, while AA has support from Edgi, (also) AA and Ares themselves.
      Trigger group wise, VSR has plenty while Ares is mostly reliant on Edgi, but Ares have steel sears and the Zero resistance spring guide from ML (which removes the need of a Zero trigger for reduced push/pull resistance). Striker stock is much stronger and feels tougher than the VSR.
      And up to stock performance, VSR-10 cannot handle heavy springs while Striker does that on the brim.
      VSR-10 uses pot metal for sears while Striker uses steel.
      VSR-10 curves at long distance and under high power while the Striker doesn't.
      Striker has bad QC while Marui's QC is unparalleled.
      All in all, VSR has upgrades but so did the AS-01. At this current age there is nothing the Striker loses out in upgrades, and a gun that is heavily reliant on upgrades might as well be considered a failure.

    The Ares Striker MAgazine is terrible. It never feeds the last three BBs and if you remove the magazine, three (or more) BBs fall out! Accuracy at 30m was way off as well even with an upgraded bolt and hop up. My old Daisy Red Ryder BB gun shoots better!

    This is Worth asking again- How can a Higher Cylinder Volume be had on the Striker? ......this Needs to be solved or be able to Modify it in some way to give it Better Air Volume to be able to Push Heavier BB's out to Longer Range.....Any Solutions Guys ?

      2 ways:
      1. Buy a bespoke which gives you an enlarged piston.
      2. Use a shorter barrel to compensate for the lack of volume.
      Or hope Amoeba releases an AS03 which comes with a VSR sized cylinder.

    Redwolf Airsoft all weapons from Tokyo Marui must have a accuracy under 1Joule. It's saying a Japan law. So you dont compare it. And the VSR-10 is better from Amoeba Strike. It's still a VSR-10😁

      If you're giving a tie, it goes to the l96. You can actually find everything you need to make it a monster like the vsr10 but vsr 10 parts are easier to find. At least the l96 isnt the m40a3 sportline. You have to hunt for those and even make physical modifications to the gun to upgrade the hopup.

    Whoa, hold on there all the VSR-10 fanboys. While it's true you can upgrade the VSR-10 to the absolute brim (I own mine as well btw, it can shoot really damn well), nobody's gonna comment the fact that you exactly need to upgrade a gun to just make it work?
    The thing is the era of upgrading a gun to maximum power is a relic in the days when guns are crap OOTB and the VSR, while good in performance, cannot function without some serious upgrades or else it commits seppuku. The Silverback SRS and the SSG24/Mod24X proved it is indeed possible and should not be a one-off, where guns already come with at least decent parts OOTB, such as steel cylinders and sears.
    The concept of platform guns is something we should already toss away and start demanding for better, well-designed guns that can work reliably, instead of requiring almost 3x the money to upgrade a bootleg rifle that doesn't even function properly. The VSR was the king in its era when there was no choice other than throwing cash into it, and it's 10 years later since then and we're still stuck with such unreasonable demand?

    Guys - none of the tests shown are comparing rifles 👎👎👎 they compare how you handled the gun. Just look at the movement placed by the operator during reload, and when did speed of load/ cocking be a top requirement for a sniper rifle?
    Overall - C+ (a nice try but could do much better if you tried)

  • @darkshock42mlg05
    @darkshock42mlg05 5 лет назад +1

    Nobody runs stock unless its the m40a3 sportline. Tbat gun was nit made to be upgraded. You have to hunt for them and make physical modifications to some parts. Also for $80 not bad but the more expensive shit will beat it. O isnt know why you gave the striker a point for upgradability. I know its the new kid and we need to give it time but overall, you cant rate somthing thats new until upgrades and clones cone out. I basically knew the vsr 10 was getting a point for that. That gun is way too mainstream. The only reason people know the l96 exists is because of counterstrike(awp), pubg(awm), and fortnite (l96 [they dont tell you what each gun is but i dont play fortnite since i dont have access to a good enough computer and have a shit smartphone and i dont have xbox live gold so what would i know]). They're the same gun but different calibers. Not saying its the best. The vsr. 10 probabaly is but i go with the l96 for the memes.
