A good alternative idea for making the Chloro-Extractinator better is to have it work on more materials, have it do conversions Shimmer can't! Play into the idea of being able to sift through more materials to turn it into an easier way of farming materials without needing to go out and grind them. For instance: You could put Meteorite into it to gain Fallen Stars, giving you an actual reason to want Meteorite in Hardmode! Contaminated blocks could also sometimes drop various items related to the corresponding biome(Rotten Chunks, Worm Teeth, and Cursed Flames for Corruption, Vertebrae & Ichor for Crimson, and Pixie Dust, Unicorn Horns, and Crystal Shards for Hallow).
So, a few personal notes. While the shimmer can convert ores, it is one way. You cannot get the better of a pair with it. The chlorophyte extractinator is great for building. If you have a bunch of ore A and want it's counterpart B but B is higher, you can convert them. And then you use it for bricks. Moss. I can't quire remember if the base one can do this, but the chlorophyte extractinator allows you to turn a number of the glowing mosses into the others. This is quite nice for getting the variants you don't have in your world and cannot be done anywhere else. Purifying blocks. While there are other methods, if you are late game and using a rocket launcher to mine up an evil or hallow biome because you are looking for the dirtiest block or are trying to clear space for a build, you will have a lot of stone, ice, or sand items. Instead of placing them and using the clentaminator or using solution in the first place, you can extractinate them if you ever need a bunch of stone, sand, or ice. Fishing. While some might already have all of the fishing gear early on, for people that only start later on it can be a nice bonus lure source. Also, there is a case where you will want to get trash, such as the junimo pet from joja cola. Overall, the chlorophyte extractinator is a semi niche upgrade. It is used primarily for stuff like building and recycling item, as well as completion and nice usability.
You completely misunderstand the purpose of the Chlorophyte Extractinator. You are supposed to stick with & use what the game gives you when it comes to counterpart items like hardmode ores and Shadow Scales/Tissue samples. The Chlorophyte Extractinator is there as a convenient way of getting the counterpart of said items *after* you've progressed past where they are meant to be used & useful in, instead of having to obtain these items from another world. It's not the "worst items" or even "not useful" because It's not meant to serve as a way to get "inaccessible" items earlier in progression in the first place.
fishing and shimmmer can give you easy access to the other ores and you can easily build an artificial evil biome in prehardmode for the shadow scales/samples. In hindsight I should’ve mentioned that ore/bar conversion should stay with the chlorophyte version but I realized that from the other comments.
@@BCubedus Fishing is very slow to the point of being very inefficient for obtaining ores for how much time it takes, not to mention "boring". Shimmer letting you access the other ore counterpart I find to be an oddity though. Also as far as I remember there's no way of building an artificial biome of the other evil biome in the same world until you reach Hardmode where you can buy the seeds from the Dryad while in a graveyard.
the Chlorophyte version should also give Chlorophyte and Hellstone, and a Later version made of Luminite that give Luminite, the 4 essences, and Hallowed ore, along with now accepting sand as an option, because end game. (also, Luminite should be automatable)
Another extractinator™️ progression idea: Hellstone extractinator. It could switch pre-hardmode ores & bars to their counterparts and switch between ash blocks and sand. It could also have a really cool look if it would emit light and smoke effects (and also be lavaproof for no particular reason)
It really is a shame because I often try to get a regular extractinator to get the materials I need for a fossil pickaxe, and while I'll usually craft one of these (because i get distracted mining super fast through the jungle) I rarely ever think about it anyways :( Good ideas and I like a lot of the sound design & animations for the extractinator descriptions :3
I feel like a good buff would being able to equip it and have it automatically convert items in your inventory. Or maybe like a massive pick up range so you can place it near silt, then mine it and it converts automatically.
I just found your channel man And well I won’t lie i thought you had something like 100k subs Because of the quality of the video alas you just hit 1k Keep it up bro someday you’ll make it big ❤
I'm a fan of the extractinator, it's like gambling, but less cool without the fishing. I didn’t even know this item existed. That aside, Shimmer remains as based as ever.
I think that it could also be buffed by allowing it to very rarely drop chlorophyte ore and hallowed ore as well as being able to cycle more things like the mech boss souls. All of that stuff is on or below the progression tier you would have access to if you're using the Chlorophyte Extractinator and would be a nice quality of life feature.
I feel like the point of the item is for vanity/building purposes only. Wanna build with adamantine but you have titanium world? Or you want to make the gold crown but you have a platinum world? You need crimson blocks for bestiary sake? The way the game forces you to work with the ores you got is by design. There would be no point in having 6 hardmode ore's that can be chosen randomly if you can just switch to the most optimal one effortlessly.
I think it should stay as it is. The ability to swap between hardmode ores should stay post mech so everyone doesn't just use titanium. I doubt many people would mine thousands of silt to get a full set of armor from a cobalt one. I believe it was added as a quality of life improvement for builders and armor/weapon collectors rather than something to be used for normal progression. I get your point, but I think adding a cobalt extractinator would be about as useful and common as making full cobalt gear
I disagree with this because not everyone would use titanium anyways. I personally go for frost armor no matter the world, and the lower teir armors are also used not just by me but many (at least on RUclips) like oricalcum, and I actually like palladium. The sets all have good enough usage that it being something you can do pre-mech doesn't break anything. What's more having this effect be post mech once again renders it useless as what's the point of switching what kind of bar you have when your using at least hallowed armor
Something I wish you could do with the Chlorophyte Extractinator is the ability to feed it Rainbow Bricks for a chance at any dye in the game. I'm thinking that you'd have a 20% chance to get a dye, with that dye being 50% likely to be a common, basic dye, 40% chance to get a combined dye, and 10% chance to get a rare dye (including Dev Dyes, even in normal worlds) or any dye constructed with ores (including Luminite Dye). This would require the Chlorophyte version and not the version you propose.
YES cause its REALLY USEFUL for building I use tin plate blocks like a lot but i am in a world with copper AND i am in pre hardmode AND it is a classic character so no researching meaning silt extractinating isnt really efficient I REALLY WANT IT NOW NOW
I think the extractinators are wasted potencial, never actually thought about the fact they could be an alternative to mining or fishing, they always just felt like a bonus if you got lucky and found one really early in the game i think the best way to make them stand out is by adding unique items to them like fishing has sailfish and balloon pufferfish and allat why cant we have like special fossils from silt that you can trade for quests at some npc? Or just fossil themed accessories?
I always make this for a single reason: storage management. Being able to turn 2 seperate equivalent bars into 1 is a wonder for my storage system (shimmer doesn't transfer them perfectly, it only downgrades so you are forced to use the original ore, which can be annoying when your world has the alternate.) I also just throw away any infected blocks I get before making this item because I just don't have space for them.
"don't have room for them" What? How do you "not have room?" You literally choose how much room you have. You are right about conversion. The Chlorophyte Extractinator doesn't at all do the same thing as the Shimmer. Shimmer downgrades ore, Extractinator is a direct conversion.
@@metalboy5150 if I have 2 chests for the same category of items I will eventually by accident have 2 seperate stacks of the same item in the same chest, and that possibility upsets me. @@justerfrog5557 So just get yourself to one stack and sell/trash whatever takes you over one. Especially now when the stack size for blocks is 9999. Obviously the point is to play however you want, it's just odd to hear that someone doesn't have room when you decide how much room you have. Hell, what does it take, 90 seconds to make room for a few more chests? Even in prehardmode.
I think the Chlorophyte Extractinator would be way more useful in general if it just... wasn't after mechs. i'd argue that it's easier to mine up a bunch of chlorophyte or farm moon lord for luminite and shimmer it down into what ever ore you might need. The frequency of silt like blocks as well as how much ore you get, removes most of the practicality for building purposes imo
