The MJ was actually only built from 86-92. The XJ was 1984-2001. So glad you went with the stock bumper with the hidden winch. Also glad you got rid of the Y-Link steering. Love this truck!

@@lukestangl4420 If you look the drag link now connects to the tie rod, not the passenger side knuckle. With the stock setup the toe-in changes as the suspension cycles. Its the main cause of death wobble on XJs and TJs.

July 7, 1987 is the day I came home with My Comanche. It still runs as a "work truck" 2023.
This video talks like a used car salesman 😜
4.0 online 6 is allot of motor for such a light truck... Breaks at the exhaust manifold before 100,000 miles. THAT COOKED everything rubber. Being female, no one would LISTEN to Me about it when I was extremely pregnant 1990. 😝 I learned to locate a "personal mechanic" for vehicles because of THIS truck. Someone that I can watch that actually does the job. That or I figure it out Myself. (My 2004 SATURN Ion Coupe is at over 375,000 miles, WAY MORE DEPENDABLE 2.2 Chevy Cobalt motor... But not a Jeep or a Truck. 😜
Cooling system on the Comanche is a hassle to fill from that bottle. Runs hot is something to watch for.... But again cracked exhaust manifold happened twice so far. #GRRR
      1987-2023 SAME Peugeot transmission 👍
      3 original fuel injectors, 3 replaced 2007.
WAIT on the fuel pump before turning the key all the way.
The Guy talking about the Comanche never OWNED ONE.

My buddy had one of these when we were young and growing up, and man we had so much fun in that little truck man. Ever since then ive always loved these trucks and have alwaus wanted one.
Which really just having any vehicle at the moment would be nice since i havent had a car at all the last cpl years due to getting in a bad accident and getting injured and car being totaled and out of work, and now walking everywhere (also in mississippi, where everything is so far away from everything lol, but ig at least i get my steps in).
But its been my dream once i hopefully get back on my feet to save up and get me one of these amazing trucks man. Theyre so nice, fun to drive, and i know his was reliable so maybe that means all of them are, and especially for how he drove his youd think it wouldve broke down, so if it survived him youd think they are reliable anyways lol.
But thanks for showing off thos beautiful truck. I love how you kept that sort of vintage look on it and really i just love everything about what you've done to the truck, it's just a great looking vehicle tbh!
I dont remember if you said, so sorry for asking if you did mention it, but is this the 4.0 model or i think they have like the 2.5 and the 2.8, and i think they even had a diesel option like 2.0 or something like that (im not the most intelligent to motors and all, so forgive me if im wrong).
Either way, again, youve got such a beautiful truck here man, i hope to see more videos from ya, i really loved this and the few others ive seen! Keep up the good work/videos buddy!

Long bed, 8' wtf? It's a long wheel base so the internal bed lenght is 7'4"
Did all that work under the hood and left the closed rad' cooling system.
Didn't even mention what they did about the height sensing proportioning valve...any lift would make it useless, and guessing from the stuff they left stock I doubt they replaced it with the adjustable wilwood proportioning valve from summit racing or even the xj's proportioning valve. So good luck to whomever won this give away. You'll need it alongside that boat anchor of a gearbox.
But now you can hack up your rear harness and put in the rear led tail lights from Oracle

    • @hodsonmotors
      @hodsonmotors  Год назад +3

Yeah I've had this conversation a few times so far, if the transmission had any synchros that were bad, we would've swapped for an AX15 rather than rebuilding the Peugeot. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This thing shifts gloriously. But there definitely has to be a point where we stop a build and start the giveaway, and with it already having an OD transmission that needed nothing, we left it alone.
