    Toyota joined the electronic valve timing and lift club in 2008, with its Valvematic technology. Compare with BMW Valvetronic, and Nissan VVEL, Valvematic is different in some aspects. Its construction is relatively simple, It is compact and does not increase the height of cylinder head. It improves the power output by 10 percent, while reduces in 15 percent, the fuel consumption during regular driving. Most importantly, it adds little inertia and friction, thus, does not compromise top end power.
    Valvematic employs an intermediate shaft to achieve continuous variable valve lift. The intermediate shaft, has an actuating geared member rocker arm, like for each cylinder. Each actuating member rocker is made of two finger followers, and a roller bearing. The finger followers can rotate in relation to the roller by means of internal gear threads, and an electric motor attached to the end of the intermediate shaft. Also very important, is that the gear threads of the roller rocker, and finger followers, are in opposite direction. This mean that when ...

    That's correct, Toyota on most systems still keeps a throttle valve, but holds it open at all times. Thanks for sharing.

    At this point in time almost all of them. Even the lower ended models if they don't have it already are about to get this system. Often times you don't even know it's there unless you read the specs for the car or open the hood and see the decal for it.

    Sure, for the most part Toyota still employs a butterfly valve, but it's held open at all times. Thanks for posting.

    It means you diagnose it once, repair it once and that's it. You don't throw parts at it or play a guessing game. Makes sense.

    I can tell you this, from the moment you decided that someone else is less than you, you sold yourself short. There are no techs at dealerships, just warranty parts changers. The independent repair shops account for 75% of repair shops, some are bad, but most are good people who see real world diagnostics. Quit your dealership job and then post back with more good news. Thanks for posting.

    I don't get how just having opposing helical gears on the same shaft would make it so that when you turn the shaft clockwise the roller followers turn counter clockwise while the roller followers turn clockwise. If both gears are attached to that shaft they will turn clockwise, and if both gears are nested within the rocker and the followers then the motion will be in the same direction. Even in the animation it shows the middle helical gear rotating in the same direction as the other gears. So how is it that it can change the direction?

    If I understand it correctly the intake and exhaust controlled independently throughout the rpm range?

    Can the valvematic unplug and have the engine still running?

    why did you use a computer for the speech and why did you use velvematic instead of valvematic?

      In the film the text "velvematic" is used and the voiceover sounds like a computer generated voice.

    see where this is wrong is that the rockers only rotate, they do not move up and down like your animation, you got me very confused, but you are the only one explaining the helical gear "threads" where others leave you to guess how they change the relative angle

    What is the use of the valve lifter in this case? It seems like it is not doing anything

    • @ADPTraining
      @ADPTraining  10 лет назад

      THis is valve timing, not lift. Most brands now use 1 or 2 stage valve lift, but that's another video.

    • @Deanyfromtheburgh
      @Deanyfromtheburgh 7 лет назад

      according to the video,the valvematic system varies lift,and the timing is controlled by the VVT-i system not talked about here.

    Hello, my famous chronic problem ??? I have an Auris 2 year 2014, petrol 1.6, Auto CVT type box, after repairing my box, I took my Auris out of the garage exactly on October 19, 2022, I drained the engine just 8 days later, so that driving about 3 weeks after October 19, I had 2 check engine lights on and the ESP, the diagnosis on the scanner gave 2 error codes p264A and p1047, I changed the oil, both lights still on, from time to time they go out but often on and with the same error codes, no one has been able to dissect this phenomenon, my vehicle is almost always in degraded mode, here I am, I find myself in a dark impasse, if please if someone has already experienced this phenomenon, he can guide me, thanks again the team

    As I agree with the fix it right the first time Comment...I get the impression you have no clue on real world or diagnostics, some times it isn't as easy as just reading a code and replacing a part.
    Us Toyota techs and MDT's (such as myself ) are getting screwed on diagnostics by Toyota under warranty to diagnose this crap....bet it is still .2 scan tool diag. what else do they expect ...with that mentality YEP Throw A Part At It!
